Can three broken pieces make a whole?
Josiah Evans is the orphan who lost both his parents. He’s sweet, shy, and all heart. He wants nothing more than to be loved.
Mateo Sanchez is the son of a gang leader. He’s seen it all, and never hesitates to do what needs to be done, no matter what it is.
Tristan Croft is the wealthy attorney who clawed his way up from the bottom to rule his own world. … bottom to rule his own world. He’ll never depend on anyone but himself again.
Three men who couldn’t be more different…and yet, as their lives intersect they find an uncommon balance that calms the storms inside each of them, and ignites fires hotter than they ever thought imaginable.
Told in three parts and spanning over ten years, BROKEN PIECES is a journey of healing for three fragmented souls, finding love in the unlikeliest of places—with each other.

This is book 2 of the Full Circle series and this features a very well done M/M/M romance. Riley Hart is a very good writer and each individual has a story and brings something to the relationship.
I was recently offered to read one of Riley’s book. After reading and loving it, I decided to look into Riley’s older books and started on the Broken Pieces series…. So glad that I did. The intertwining stories of these 3 broken men, touched me. Starting with Mateo and Josiah in New York, we find 2 foster kids, who couldn’t be more opposite, broken in different ways, yet they find a way to be there for each other, which develops into a pure love. Having to hide their feelings for various reasons, they are eventually torn apart. Forward to California when Josiah has gone to start the new life he was hoping to have with Mateo, finds him meeting Tristan, another tortured soul. Even though Josiah still can’t forget or stop loving Mateo, he forges a romance with Tristan, starting off as friends. Now ten years have gone by and Mateo comes back into the picture. The decision on who to pick, tears Josiah up, because as much as he loves Tristan, he still loves Mateo…. Each of them complete him in different ways. Instead of tearing them all apart, they find a way to join together, Josiah centers Mateo and Tristan and his love for them, makes a bond between Mateo and Tristan that they never saw coming….. There are many twists and turns and up and downs for these three, but they manage to only grow stronger as one…. I felt sorry for poor Ben though. As the ex boyfriend/best friend of Tristan’s he can’t let go. He hangs in there, adding more to their tale….can’t wait to read more about them.
What an angst fest – the blurb did not prepare me for the amount of torment all the characters would go through. My favorite part is the last third of the book when Josiah, Mateo, and Tristan come together and the start of their trio is formed. Their relationship is beautiful. Overall, I enjoyed this book and found the writing well done with interesting characters.
I liked the premise, it was just a bit long for me.
Riley continues to remind us that love can overcome so many tragedies. These men have survived childhoods that would have ‘broken’ most of us and were still able to give and receive love. A message that needs to be broadcast to every corner of the world.
This is a new author to me, first time reading something from Riley Hart and it was very pleasant.
I know I gave this book 4 stars, but I was debating between 3 or 4 because of some things that I’ll explain better below.
I was very nervous because this is my first polyamory and it was told in 3 parts:
First part: feature the first couple, Matteo and Josiah
Second part: feature the second couple, Tristan and Josiah
Third part:feature the trio, Matteo, Tristan and Josiah
I have to say it was nicely executed and I like the author writing. Also it was a ‘showing’ kind o book, not a ‘telling’ kind of book, which I don’t like.
First thing I didn’t like in the book: the sex scenes. It was kinda boring to me, couldn’t find sexy at all and I love virgins, I really do. It was fast, normal, and not exciting for me. I thought it would get better when the second part came, but it didn’t. Then the 3some happen and… Nothing. It did not appeal to me, it was a little “stiff”, choreographed.
Second thing it was Matteo’s puking. No, I don’t mind a MC with a weak stomach, but in these case was a resource the author use to show his affliction towards the bad things he does/did. It was overdid, forced, unnatural.
Third thing… Well, I’m conflicted about the third part of the book. VERY CONFLICTED. I don’t really like jealousy and possessiveness between my MCs and it doesn’t happen, so I was glad. But I was also sad because it was too damn unrealistic the way the 3 of them com together. The book become very ‘telling’ instead of ‘showing’ things. Always narrating and telling “this happened, that happened.” not actually showing us the scene itself. And was very, very fast pacing. Matteo and Tristan fall in love each other almost instantly, like in the first week they met. It was weird. It took Tristan almost 2 years to let himself be with Josiah, but a week or so to be with Matteo. The author try to tell us they were conflicted about each other, but their actions tell us otherwise. Feels very force and unreal, with little to no emotional payoff. If Josiah wasn’t there, I’ll be fine with just Matteo and Tristan, really. The sentence “Josiah is the glue to their relationship” is said over and over, as it trying to convince us because he actually wasn’t. They would be damn fine without him, even though the 3 of them fit together fine as well.
With that said, unbelievable as it was, I love it. Because there was no angst and my heart haven’t skipped a beat ^^” It was easy to read, that’s what I’m trying to say.
I enjoy the reading (listening actually) a lot. I’m dying to read the second book despite the flaws I found in this first one. The plot itself was very good, I love it. It’s just that third part that really bothered me, wish it could have been write differently.
This entire series brought me to tears in so many instances. Well worth the read.
I’m writing here but it is for the entire trilogy, a tough one but also a story so close to my heart. I understand each of them as friends and lovers, with all their struggles, dreams and fears. I’m happy that in the end all five of them found the family, the closeness and the peace they needed for so long.
The end though doesn’t feel really complete yet.
