What happens when a sweet girl and a bad boy meet on a reality TV show? Answer: nothin’ but romance!
Six years ago, Midge Knightly walked away from her trust fund, her Hollywood producer father, and the expectation that she would join the family business. Avoiding handsome playboys with hidden agendas was just an added bonus. Now one semester shy of graduation, she is shocked to discover her … shocked to discover her scholarship has lost its funding.
Her estranged father is having problems of his own. A contestant on his latest reality TV series has cancelled a week before shooting.
His solution?
Midge gets her trust fund back if she stands in as a potential marriage candidate for the dating series Marry Your Billionaire. Twenty women competing for one arrogant guy. Not Midge’s cup of tea. Agreeing to this proposition sucks her back into the world she happily broke ties from, but no trust fund equals no college degree.

In order to save his company and his reputation as an honest businessman, the billionaire must prove to everyone that he isn’t the naughty, bad boy they believe him to be.
His solution?
Become the first bachelor on Marry Your Billionaire and hope that one of the contestants holds some potential. So what is he supposed to do when the woman who intrigues him the most wants to be eliminated?

Excerpt:
“I’m afraid I’ll have to decline the offer, Mr. Prescott. If the outcome of this entire exchange is for you to end up a bachelor once again, then having me as your fake girlfriend is going to be problematic for you.”
“Why is that?” he asked.
Midge leaned forward, reached for his hand that rested on the table and turned it palm up. She then drew lazy circles around his palm and up his wrist. His eyes darkened a bit with a heated look that communicated her affect on him.
She continued that soft contact as she said, “Spend enough time with me, and you’re liable to fall desperately in love. How will you be able to let me go after that?”
Without hesitating, he captured her fingers in his grasp. Raising them to his lips, he softly kissed the tips of them, never breaking eye contact with her. She hadn’t been prepared for him to rally like that, and she found herself just as mesmerized by his actions as he had been with hers.
“Maybe I’m okay with the idea of never letting you go.”

Reality TV vs. Real Life
Midge’s dad was big in Hollywood and when she decided she wanted to write & not follow in his footsteps he cut her loose, but she has one more semester left and her scholarship ran out . Now her dad wants her to be part of a show she bargain one day she gets her trust fund back. But things get hairy. The Billionaire is Brody Preston whom she talked to earlier in the day and doesn’t know.
It’s not a new book, but I got a copy for free, I thought the was blurb interesting, then decided to read it over the weekend.
The narrative of the author is very good.
The plot involving famous people could be one more in the long list of the typical “Billionaire CEO who falls in love with the girl who does not care about his millions,” but it’s more than that.
Madelyn “Midge” Knightly is the daughter of a famous filmmaker, director and producer, but for six years she does not want to know about this world, full of people without content, only interested in approaching to use her as a “step” to reach her father.
She decided to invest in her writing career and is almost finishing her first manuscript while completing her course to be Masters in English.
Some day, her favorite coffee shop is invaded by a CEO and his assistant, who is in crisis. He has signed a contract to attend a reality show and thus try to wipe his image after having been the target of lying gossip from a woman for whom he did not want to have a romance.
Midge intruded on the conversation and, to her dismay, her ideas were accepted by the CEO. But there was a huge “if”: he wanted her to have a very special part in it all.
Brody Prescott, founder and CEO of Shackled and Loving it, an online dating service, was not the best advertising for his own business since he held himself as a famous bachelor.
After being accused by Felicia Davenport that he had broken his company’s privacy polices, having access to information about women he related, he urgently needed to deny all this filth and change his image from bachelor to a man in love and engaged.
But how could he find the perfect woman if they all only approached him because of his money?
It is when he “trips on” a beautiful woman (with glasses and freckles), who understands everything about show business and does not care about his billions.
How will he manage to convince Midge that he is not a womanizer, as she is the right woman for him?
The story brings a funny backstage to TV shows as The Bachelor, with dangerous scenes, full of mystery.
A little over 50% of the reading there are some parts that could have been suppressed, but in the final chapters, the plot twist makes the reader wonder who/how/why all that plan was made.
clean romance
5 stars
I received a complimentary copy of this book for free to give a voluntary honest review. This review contains only my own thoughts and opinions of this book.
I started reading this book with doubts and low expectations. Not because of the writing or the author or anything like that. I’ve read and enjoyed almost all of C.J Anaya’s books so just for that I was hopeful. However the idea and plot for this book with the whole billionaire romance reality TV, added Cinderella twist, shebang is what had me doubtful since I’ve read and seen it done before. I am so relived and happy that my fear of unoriginality was completely off the mark.
I can with confidence say that this was the best book I’ve read from C.J Anaya yet. It had everything I desire in a romance book; bucketloads of drama, a sizzling romance, unique and perfectly flawed characters, a not too obvious antagonist and characters dancing with the line between good and bad. Best of all, it had the perfect balance and buildup for a dramatic climax. I found it very cleverly written with both a original and complex plot. It really showed the effort and passion the author put into the story and I am especially impressed with the characters.
It unusual that I like a character from the get-go, but I really liked Midge and Brody. They both had a very profound and specific personality that stood out. I liked her spunk and his forwardness and it complemented their pasts in the Hollywood business well, just as much as Midge’s insecurities did. Her characterization was pretty much spot on for a person escaping the business and all the vanity and fighting to make it on her own. I fell in love with them together from their first meeting each other. I could really feel the chemistry between them with all the jokes, fights, intimacy and drama. The character that impressed me the most though was Corbin Knightly, as well as his strained relationship with Midge. It is unusual and very much welcome with a character in a YA that is difficult to place on either the good or the bad side. His character really strengthened the story and the realism since it was unclear where he stood. He no doubt loved his daughter, but made some calls and decisions that made me question his agenda and work ethics. It made it an interesting and thrilling read to see both how the relationship between Midge and Brody, as well as between Midge and her father would work out.
Then we have the antagonists. While Felicia was very obviously the villain in the story with her past with Brody, a bad temper and a rotten attitude I did not mind the transparency of her character and agenda. The author made no secret that she was the bad apple in the competition and instead compensated it by adding an accomplice who I am reluctant to call a villain. Because just like Corbin Knightly the character was difficult to place as good or bad. Her identity, kind personality and her own secret agenda was perfectly written into the story.
Just based on the characters, the romance and drama I would absolutely give this story five stars. Sadly, I was not completely satisfied with the climax of the story. While the buildup to it with all the drama was thrilling the resolution fell a bit short. Sure, the live on TV twist added som flare, but I did not like the fact that after how crappy Brody acted she just forgave him on the spot. No, scratch that. I did not like that he forgave her like she was the one who needed to clear it all up and apologize. Yes, it had all been a misunderstanding and yes, they both had been played. But bottom line is that he did not trust her enough to listen to her explanation and in his anger he did something so crappy towards her (no spoilers). The fact that she had to prove herself, apologize and want him back was so unsatisfying. I wanted some sort of apology and an admission of guilt from him as well as him having to fight to get her back after that. Not just her taking him back like nothing and then happily ever after. The fact that it was resolved so easily and quickly made the ending rushed. I would not have minded a more dramatic ending and a bigger resolution, and not just between Midge and Brody, but between Midge and her Father as well. Still, I do still enjoy a happy ending so I’m not unsatisfied with that. Just with the part getting to the happy ending.
Now having finished Marry your Billionaire I’ve learned to never again doubt C.J Anaya. She has more than once proven that she can take the most overly used plot and still make it so beautifully one of a kind. Because her writing style and imagination is on its own very unique. I am looking forward to reading more from her.
SPOILERS!
This really is a fun story in a the bachelor-esc setting. The author did a great job with the twist secondary antagonist, which I didn’t even guess until like 3 pages before it was revealed! She did a really great job keeping the story from being too predictable, which was fantastic.
The dynamic between Midge and her father is bizarre to say the least. One minute he’s claiming to want what’s best for his daughter and to have a relationship with her, but then he’s doing this crazy blackmail scheme against her that just escalates. It was very back and forth.
The main antagonist in the story is straight up crazy, but I feel that the response to the events that occurred were not treated in a realistic manner. I mean, a lot of the things that ‘Charlene’ did were pretty bad with potentially dangerous effects (such as Midge’s allergic reaction). But then at the end of the novel, she doesn’t really face any repercussions. Not only that, but in reality (at least in my mind) while the potential for great drama for the reality show is high, the liability issue would cancel that out. No one in charge of a TV show would risk having to deal with a huge payout to injured contestants.
There was another part that confused me, right at the very beginning. In one part of the scene, Midge has taken out her laptop to work on her novel. But then 2 or so pages later, the scene repeats itself where she’s taking out her laptop. Didn’t that just happen?
Despite the oddities in the story that didn’t really make sense to me, it is a really fun read. I would definitely recommend it!
I LOOOOOOOOOVED IT!! Simply loved it! Everything about this book was so damn lovable!! Marry Your Billionaire definitely became one of my most cherished books! But, let’s take it from the start.
This story is about the billionaire Brody Prescott and the to-be-author Madelyn “Midge” Knightly. Brody is the CEO and founder of an online dating company and Madelyn is girl who’s studying to be an author. But, suddenly, Fate pushes these two people to turn from strangers to ….. sort-of-lovers. And all begins when Madelyn’s father blackmails her to fill the place of a contestant who dropped out off his show. A show of 20 women fighting over the heart of a billionaire who is who other than Brody Prescott. It looks simple and straightforward right? Although, there are many other things behind it. And they, absolutely, got me stuck and unable to tear my eyes off the screen.
The love that Brody and Midge share it isn’t similar to any other. What they have goes beyond undeniable chemistry. The intensity and depth of their feelings is simply wonderful. But what makes them an even more spectacular couple is how they respond to each other but, more importantly, what they are doing to support, magnify, fight and keep that love strong, deep and epic. The words are just incomplete and unnecessary when it comes to describe these two. They are all about emotions.
“There were three things he knew with certainty.
One: Midge was no gold-digger.
Two: Midge was going to be on the show.
Three: He absolutely wanted and needed her in his life.”
C. J. Anaya created a story which is irresistible and unforgettable and so are its characters. Her writing is sweeping you away from the first page and, as you go on, its impact is getting stronger. Also, she suceeded to write steamy and hot scenes between Brody and Midge without even needing them having sex. I mean, WOW! I wish there was more of them because I can’t get enough!
Whoever loves an outstanding, powerful, one-of-a-kind love that knows how to surpass obstacles, then Marry Your Billionaire the book for you! So, go and grab your copy…..
