Lucian Marcello is aware of the expectations following him as the oldest son of one of North America’s most infamous Cosa Nostra Dons. Family in his world is more than blood and sharing a last name. It’s the honor, respect, business, and the life. Being a Capo is just a stepping stone until it’s time for him to take on the role of underboss but a chance meeting with her could be the one thing … he’d risk it all for.
She is exactly what he didn’t know he was looking for.
Jordyn Reese spends her time trying to stay under the radar of a man who wouldn’t think twice about killing her. Unwillingly affiliated with a dangerous MC gang, her life is dominated by the men surrounding her and her future rests solely in how useful she can be for them. The last thing she needs is some Mafioso gaining her more unwanted attention from the club.
He is everything she should stay away from but can’t.
Notoriously violent when it comes to getting what he wants, Lucian will stop at nothing to make the target on Jordyn’s back disappear. But sometimes the worst threats are the ones you can’t see until it’s too late. The truth behind Lucian’s history is about to take center stage in more ways than one, and it’ll either save him … or kill him.
This world leaves everyone a little filthy.

Filthy Marcellos: La Cosa Nostra is not just a choice of regime and routine, it’s a culture. Born as mafia royalty, the Marcello brothers were raised ingrained with the beliefs and rules of what it meant to be a Mafioso prince. It is for life. Their status is considered a given right. They will always be these people. They will always be Marcellos.

Full disclosure: I downloaded this book because it was free and I didn’t want to pay $10 for the whole series. I’ve never read anything by this author. OMG. It was so good!! I’ve already bought and downloaded the series and finished Antony and Cecilia’s story. I’m hooked!
“Love can make a bad man a monster…”
This book is one of the best I’ve read so far in the mafia romance genre, I was expecting something completely different, but this is pure mafia and pure romance; infatuation between the characters, I just loved it. I’ve been reading so much about sweet love and romance in all its glory so I needed to make the very delicate transition from sweet to dark again, and this series just prove me that we can have sweet with dark in one and Bethany-Kris is the perfect author for that to happen.
Jordyn is living in fear, she knows that there’s no one that can take care of her, so her safety and her future are in her own hands, but there’s someone how really wants her to fail and is willing to make that happen even if he has to force her and break her.
Lucian Marcello, the eldest son of the Don of The Cossa Nostra is the one you fear, his name is attached to a past he can’t forget, but that past and his present is what has built the man he is today. After seeing Jordyn he can’t get any peace of mind, he needs her, but the moment he decided to act on it he came across with an almost broken girl…vengeance is the only way he can give her a new life.
This book just became attached to my heart, it is so beautifully written in third person and after reading the first chapter I was hooked. Believe me when I tell you that this book is worth the risk of reading something completely out of your comfort zone.
This book starts out a new series with a bang! Do to special timing and circumstances these two bump into each other and it’s a shock to the system. There is lots of drama, pain, thrills and love in this book tans it makes for an amazing book.
Really enjoyed this story, especially enjoyed the twist of the plot towards end of story. GREAT WRITING
A wonderful escape on a rainy weekend! Sometimes I need this!
Loved the whole series.
Title: Lucian
Author: Bethany Kris
Publication Date: April 27, 2016
My first read by this author and I loved everything about this book.
Lucian was a great H and Jordyn is the perfect match for him. No matter what happened she didn’t break and never went the TDTL route.
Antony and his wife were great and cemented the “famiglia” aspect of Italians; his brothers while not prominent in the story were a welcome addition.
Loved this book! I have read this whole series and love these brothers. They are fierce protectors and loving to their partners. There was always a layer of suspense to the series and I kept turning the page until I was done. Recommended for anyone who loves strong males with equally strong partners.
Enjoy the book every page
Enjoyed reading this book and would love to read about Giovanni and Dante but they aren’t available on Nook. The story was different and new.
I enjoyed this book
So good I”m reading the series!
Caution: This is not everyone’s cup of tea, it’s explicit in both violence and sexy times. That said, it ticked a lot of my boxes. It’s steamy hot. The protagonist is protective and commanding. The heroine is strong and no pushover, despite being horribly traumatized in the early part of the book. I also liked that the secondary character are fully fleshed and realized. It’s edgier than your traditional romance, but still a fun ride.
A well written book, filled with bad boys you can’t help but love!
This is going to sound strange, but this is the only way my brain can explain this story accurately: Reading this book was like listening to a calm narrator on audiobook while sitting on a soft fluffy cloud.
The story is well told with dual narration, but the characters, especially Lucian were so calm and almost monotone that the story didn’t feel nearly as dark or disturbing as it should. It was like it was coated with fluffyness. Not that that is bad an anyway, it just threw me off as I was expecting dark, violence, and triggers. While that darkness is there it is not worrying or troubling to read. I loved this story and will read more in the future.
Lucian is an amazing character. He is alpha and a mad man without being dominate or crass. His women was amazing as well, she just fit right into his life and their romance was epic. This is one of a very few stories that I have ever read that felt real. Like you could really experience these situations or people. There was very little fantasy and a lot of fictional reality. So enjoyable!
What I loved most about this entire book was that it was written with honest words. The characters trusted each other and TALKED OUT THEIR PROBLEMS! I am so tired of stories trying to rely on missed communication as the basis of the plot. This was not one of those stories. The characters got into arguments, misunderstood each other, but the conflict was resolved with in the chapter, so the story could focus on the real plot! I cannot explain how amazing that is to read!
Re-read (1/1/21) First off, I need to address the thought that was most present during my entire time reading Lucian. That is that this is a very elegant story; there is a richness to every aspect. The money, the cars, the descriptions, the way the characters held themselves, the dialogue, even the cover of the paperback had this soft and elegant feeling to it with just a hint of danger underneath. (I think that was the most surprising for me because I am used to dark, dirt, grit, and violence and this has that just in a much more sophisticated manor.)
I liked the Marcello family and was happy to be introduced to each of them in this story. Each member has their own personality, and I could feel that as well as the love and respect they each had. I liked Lucian because he was down to earth, solid, and strong but also a bit lost in certain moments. Jordyn was a nice balance for him. I think she became his stable safe place and that is what made her a great character; thought personally I wanted a bit more from her.
The story is more relationship and family focused and that seems really fitting with the family and their beliefs; but I also expected more action. I did like what action there was and it was solid with in the story and not overly graphic. There was enough to get the idea that these men are bad but also enough to really balance out the romance. The minor yet important plot line was simple and worked well to answer all questions I might have had when reading. The romance was nice (steamy as all get out), and I really felt the attraction between Lucian and Jordyn.
There is no cliffhanger, and the only trigger to list would be violence, graphic but not exploitative. I will mention that there are a few editing errors but there way minimal and really did not affect my enjoyment of this story. Overall a very enjoyable read and I look forward to the other brothers’ stories! 4 stars.
