As a descendant of one of the Founding Families who led the exodus from a dying Earth and now rule New Eden, Mei’s choices are endless. But she has never felt part of the Yu Family or the world of technological marvels and genetic perfection the Founders created. All that will change the summer she spends at … Mynyddamore, the home her ancestor Mabel Yu built in western Caelestis. Here, living among the Ddaerans, the original inhabitants of New Eden, Mei will discover secrets about Mabel Yu that her family want to keep buried and a truth about herself that will forever change her own destiny.
Between Mountain and Sea is a coming of age novel, the first book in USA Today Bestselling author Louisa Locke’s Caelestis series in the Paradisi Chronicles (an open source, science fiction world created by multiple authors).

Good character development. Interesting story.
Really good story. I get tired of stories that focus on wars and fighting. This was very different but the premise did not surprise me at all. I can just imagine the rich doing this very thing.
I’m house bound due to covid and kept me interested
A good start for the series by this author. The subject is “open source” so there are other books in this environment by other authors plus one story by the author and her daughter. All of them are definitely worth reading.
Well written
It does flip between the now and the past frequently.
This book is a simply a good story with great characters. The science fiction futuristic setting is not overdone or too technical yet different enough to create a good sense of the location. The characters are interesting and the premise of telepathy is not overdone with super powers but stay within believable boundaries. Its a good adventure and worth the read.
world building never turns out the way the founders envisioned: not plymouth rock, not san francisco, not heinleins harsh mistress. generations later, the powers – that – be insist that They are living just as the founders intended – if you are not then there’s something wrong with you. Unless an actual founder’s diary turns up. And, generations later, you know the world really isn’t that way – you know you are supposed to shut up, but it’s just not that way.
This was a very well-organized and skillfully written book. I figured out what was going on with the main character before she did, but the writing kept me very involved to find out when she would figure it out.
When I first started reading, I wasn’t sure of this book; however, after I got a chapter into it I was hooked. The premise of creating a new world without the mistakes of the old one, while talking to animals and talking to the originals makes this a fascinating first book in the trilogy. I highly recommend them.
I enjoyed this Book and I enjoy the back-and-forth between the family generations. The follow up books were too expensive in total.
hard to follow who was doing what
This book takes much too long to get interesting at all
