When Erin Poletti pulls her car into the thousand acre Rydell River Ranch in River’s End, Washington, looking to stay with her hated brother Chance, she never intends for it to be anything more than a pit stop on the way to the rest of her life. After her mother’s suicide, Erin has no choice but to seek out her brother where he works as a ranch hand, as she is left penniless, homeless and for … reasons she will share with no one; without the basic skills to navigate her life. Ranch owner Jack Rydell watches her pull onto his ranch and knows that trouble has come to his ranch, his three brothers, his two sons, and most of all: to himself.
Erin has a short lived relationship with Jack’s youngest brother until circumstances eventually leave Erin nearly destitute on the ranch, and finally reveals the secret Erin has desperately hidden. And only then, does Jack finally begin to know the woman whose presence has so altered his life. Eventually, Erin finds a job, and starts to work with Jack and his horses in order to repay the debts she feels she owes him. But the longer Erin is there Jack begins to wonder if he can resist the woman he now knows, despite everything that stands between them.

I loved the characters and what they went through. This is a story that is from the heart.
Wonderful story of imperfect people who keep trying!

“River’s End” by Leanne Davis is a
contemporary romantic novel set in
the eastern mountainous region of
Washington state. It is a discovery into
the motivation of individuals. Out two
main characters, Jack & Erin, each learn
about themselves as well as each other. The entire group, made up of
Jack’s three younger adult brothers,
along with Jack two sons all play
important parts in the fast-paced plot.
Their characters are well developed along with descriptions of the
magnificent scenery all around them.
Their 1,000 acre horse training ranch
seems to become a significant character in itself!
Thanks Ms Davis for creating these
lovable, memorable characters!

Redemption, judgment and guilt :three human elements that make Davis’ story believable and powerful.
Finding One’s Self
Erin is one of those girls that nobody really took to the time to see her, the person. Her mom killed herself and she couldn’t stay where she was living, so she to get her awful brother. Jack doesn’t like her bet Charlie, but his brother hired him. But now she has been with Joey, he doesn’t know what to do.Her brother takes off and steaks her car, money, clothes and leaves at the ranch. But the one thing his son Ben knows is that she can’t read.
A well written perfectly paced story pulling you in from the start. This being book one in the series is a great start for the series, about Jack and Erin. A lot of action to keep my interest through the end. Cannot wait to read the rest of the books.
This was the first book in a while that had me excited to keep turning the page!
Step in to a realistic story
I am amazed with the way this author writes – so realistic, including all the nitty gritty that most people don’t want to include. I found myself questioning where the story was going – but that is a good thing! It wasn’t obvious, and definitely kept me intrigued to the very end. You’ll definitely love the story of Erin and Jack, and all the rest of the characters you are introduced to in this book!
This book is just amazing..Love Erin she alone and goes and find her brother on the Rydell farm ..Jack older of the brother taking care of the family and his children….Jack not sure what is Erin intention at first but he feel a pull toward her he hasn’t feel been a while … You feel the chemistry between them will they act on it or will they resist it …love all the characters of the book can’t wait to more of them ….this was my first book of the author and won’t be my last …hurry and get this book you won’t regret
My overall end feeling of this book is that it’s good and I’ll likely keep going with the series. However, I had a hard time getting into the characters in the beginning. As a character I have a hard time relating to Erin, I’m anything but a victim type and generally do not enjoy stories where they are the heroines. In this case though I think it ultimately works.
The reality of someone who’s suffered from severe dyslexia, in a male dominated world, would create a woman like her who doubts her value and worth at all times. It isn’t what we want but it is real!
The characters are complex and I think that was why it was a slow start. Developing the story to bring these people to life is difficult.
I think this one made me a little angry, if not sad. Erin was pretty much walked on by every man she met, including those she called family. It caused her to not think highly of herself. It took someone to see the good in her and to treat her the way she deserved to be treated. He was honest, caring and took his time getting to know her and show her that she is loveable and worthy.
I love this author. Her new series has unconventional characters with such emotional depth. I’ve read western romances before and was curious when I saw Leanne was going to write a series about a family of cowboys who lived on a ranch. It seemed like such a departure from anything I’ve ever read from her and wondered if it would still have a gut-wrenching story and characters that are so heartbreaking with their past and current situations. Well I shouldn’t have worried, the heroine, Erin Poletti, life has to be one of the saddest I’ve ever read.
When you read anything from this author don’t expect some cookie cutter romance you’ve read a 100 times. This has to be one of more unconventional love stories I’ve ever read. When reading this you need to try and put yourself in Erin’s shoes. She is a 26 year old women who is illiterate and has been made to feel unloved her whole life and expects no kindness from anyone. Does the author try and cure her of these things during the course of the book, NO – the hero Jack Rydell tried but 26 years of feeling less than nothing isn’t just going to go away and I liked that the author didn’t try and make us believe it would.
I was sad when I came to the end of River’s End but I know there are more books coming in this series about the other brothers and I hope in those we get to continue to see Erin continuing to work on her issues and that eventually she and Jack can finally have that conventional relationship.
