This started out pretty good then got bogged down further I went. Didn’t attempt to finish it. It didn’t grab me the first few chapters . If I have to struggle to turn the page, then it’s not worth it.
Liked the book enough to buy the 2nd and 3rd in the series. Good plot, likeable bad-ass characters. The only thing that I don’t like is that it is set in 4010, and not only is there still a President with a 4 year term, cars on the streets, and bionics have just come into play in the last few years, but someone is wearing Armani. I just don’t see that happening still, 2000 years from now. Otherwise, it’s well written and the plot is well developed. I’d buy a 4th in the series, just to find out what happens to the great characters.
Struggled to get through this book, and I am unlikely to read other books from this author.
Needs better proof reading, but the story is excellent.
WARNING! “Cliffhanger” ending, ie the story simply stops without resolution. So if this convention to get you to read the next book is not acceptable/enjoyable to you-don’t waste your time. The plot concept was ok. The story is told from three individuals points of view. When the third narrator picked up his view point, the story become fairly transparent and a parody of an Indiana Jones adventure. I sincerely wish I had stopped then but unfortunately didn’t and so was as disappointed as I feared I would e.
Bad language
Coo far fetched. Hard to swallow
Stinker. Banal formula book.
Love the book – wish it was not a series.
Science fiction
Interesting concept, writing needs sharpening and desperately needs a good copy editor. Numerous small mistakes in grammar or fiction detract from an otherwise good read.
this is really a YA read. not as detailed as i prefer.
Enjoyable but as Science fiction it stretches science in places.
I selected this book because it had an advertising blurb that indicated that the characters were augmented, as supported by the title, The Bionics. I was hoping for an updated Cyborg (the book that became The Six Million Dollar Man on TV). This book isn’t it. Also, the overt political point of view, the President in the book, make a reasonably conservative reader cringe. Mt tablet lost my position on the book today and I’m not sure I will try to find it again. I will give the author credit for an interesting selection of bionic abilities, but that isn’t quite enough to carry the book on for me. There is also a strong romantic sub plot that does not move the story forward for me. Others might be more positive about that.
took too long to engage the reader
Good read, entertaining. Not as engrossing as some great ones but a good book. I’m glad I bought it and read it.
Excellent young adult sci-fi of near future (4000 something) after nuckear attacks o major American cities and the corrupt government that evolves from the chaos. Told from shifting perspective of 3 major characters. I am thru 2nd in series now, eagerly waiting delivery of next 3 books, hard to fnd #5. Got first 2 as digitsl, had to go to paperback for other 3. Highly recommendeded….fantastic morality perspective for YA readers.
