The story kept me so entralled I was sorry it ended .
I bought the first book on sale and preceded to read the whole series that same day. Great book. If your not into force or sadism not for you but if your open minded it’s a great read!
Great read when you want something to ease your heart
I loved reading this book because this is what happens in today’s society. The events are so realistic. The girl is so lucky that she gets off the hook by being someones pleasure bunny. And the guy stuck true to his character – a dominant through and through.
Takes every woman’s worst fears for the health and safety of her child a twists it to make her do the unthinkable. Depicts men as manipulative, abusive bastards or saints only to reveal their impetus for their actions. Like a car accident I wanted to look away but couldn’t.
It was an OK read – dark and steamy. The plot was a little silly towards the end, but that’s not really the point, is it? It does continue, but I don’t need to read the next one. In fact, I had to reread portions of this in order to remember what book it was, so I guess I’d say Ok enough for 4 stars, but not memorable.
I honestly am hating this book. It’s disturbing to me. I honestly like most BDSM books but this one is just horrible. In my opinion. I can’t finish it. But I also want to see if it will get better. But right now it’s jjst awful.
A real waste of time. The main male character was a sadistic bastard with no redeeming qualities. Not in line with BDSM as there was no safe, sane and consensual aspects. He just beat and raped as he wanted.
It was hard to understand the heroine’s addiction to abuse.
All 4 books of this series are very real in petting Kayla’s emotions & thoughts into this off kilter relationship. She is always a good mother to her I’ll daughter but not to herself as she stays with her tormentor & he is also her true love.
Love this author and this series. Awesome
3.5 stars
So it a real good idea to read the warning!!! There is no dubious consent, nope this goes way past that line. But at the same time it doesn’t…It’s hard to explain. If you haven’t read a BDSM book yet, probably not the one to break into the genre.
What a tangled web, Ms. James weaves. I have to say the twisters and turns were epic. The interwoven lives and sins are enough to make this a daytime drama, however, content not so much.
Everything that she does is for her daughter. A desperate mother will do crazy things. She felt she had no choice and now, she truly doesn’t. He will get his payment. But it will be more than she bargained for.
I picked this book up a long time ago but never got to it. I’m glad I waited. I never would have been able to handle it. Since purchasing it, I have read several books that delve into BDSM- both the good and the scary. Having learned or being more jaded (as mother says), I was able to take the acts for what they were and not how they’d appear to an uninformed person. I’m not excusing Gage’s behavior just more understanding.
I hope that helps you to make a more informed decision.
