The sequel to Flat-Out Sexy, starring a bad boy race car driver hero who’s met his match-from a hot USA Today bestselling author. Grad student Imogen Wilson realizes she’s hit on the perfect thesis for her sociology degree. If she follows the so-called “rules” on how to get a man, can she steer her way into the world and hearts of stock race car drivers, and establish their dating- and … establish their dating- and mating-patterns?
Although sexy and reckless racer Ty McCordle is the ideal test subject, Imogen knows that for the sake of science, she can’t give in to her growing attraction for him. Yet he’s the one who’s chasing after her, and Imogen realizes that she actually wants to be caught. A southern gentleman like Ty will satisfy all her curiosity-and make all the risks worthwhile…

This is a really enjoyable read. It has two main characters that couldn’t be more different. Ty is an all around great guy, originally introduced in book 1 as a member of the Hinder Racing Team and friends with Elec and Ryder. He is unfortunately dating a bimbo that no one can stand. Ty and Imogen run into each other a few times and finally give in to their chemistry the same day Ty breaks up with his previous girlfriend. Their relationship, while unlikely, is adorable to watch develop. She is a teaching assistant to Tamara (book 1, Elec’s wife). She is working on an advanced degree and loves Shakespeare. While Imogen’s thesis is ridiculous and a little irritating, it does seem to suit her personality, and the book is fun to read. The amount of racing info in the book is just right and can be enjoyed by everyone. Elec and Tamara’s kids, Hunter and Pete, make several adorable appearances, and so does Evan (Elec’s brother and another racer). Ryder and Suzanne continue their relationship dance. They are divorced, still friends, and obviously there is more. I can’t wait to read their book next!
A nerdy girl named Imogen from NYC and a sexy stock car driver named Ty from Arkansas, have to be the most unlikely couple, but there’s no accounting for attraction. Their relationship is moving fast, maybe too fast. By the way, Ty has a secret. Another entertaining stock car romance.
You would think this line, “you’re the hottest biscuit this side of the gravy boat” said by the hero to the heroine after an extreme hot and heavy session of sex would sound very corny. But coming from Ty McCordle, Erin McCarthy’s hero in Hard and Fast, is exactly what you would expect him to say. Ty has a way with words, as does his lover Imogen Wilson. The discussions and conversations between these two is what makes Hard and Fast one of the most enjoyable books I have read so far this year. It is so great to have a book where the main characters are up front with one another. They communicate perfectly with their frank discussion about sex and what they are looking for in a significant other. Ty and Imogen have a no holds bar relationship and is exactly the one I would love to have if and when I meet Mister Right. Erin McCarthy really does push the limits with the intimacy and sex between these two. All the sexual cards are on the table and Imogen is willing to do whatever Ty wants because he understand her like no one else does.
These two also have fun together out of bed. Ty introduces Imogen to new things such as camping, fishing and the fun of sleeping bag sex. Imogen wants Ty to try some Shakespeare, which he does, but learns the Bard in his own special way. (Ty has a little secret about reading that if it got out would bring him shame)
Ty and Imogen click in such a way that is so very special. They have a meeting of the minds that all men and women should have both in fiction and in real life. Hard and Fast shows that attraction may start with a person’s looks, but in order to keep it lasting, it is how they use their noggin that matters most.
