A Psy/Changeling novel from the New York Times bestselling author of Shards of Hope, Shield of Winter, and Heart of Obsidian…”the alpha author of paranormal romance” (Booklist). As a conflict with Pure Psy looms on the horizon, two powerful wolves fight a far more intimate war of their own … pack, it’s up to Drew Kincaid to rein in rogue changelings who’ve lost control of their animal halves—even if it means killing those who’ve gone too far. But nothing in his life has prepared him for the battle he must now wage—to win the heart of a woman who makes his body ignite…and who threatens to enslave his wolf.
Lieutenant Indigo Riviere doesn’t easily allow skin privileges, especially of the sensual kind—and the last person she expects to find herself craving is the most wickedly playful male in the den. ‘Play of passion’ was just as great as I remembered from the first time that I read it. This story is about Andrew ‘Drew’ and Indigo, we already met both in the previous books. Andrew is Brenna’s brother and Indigo is one of the sentinels of SnowDancer. Both are very dominant Changelings. Indigo and Drew have always been friends but now Drew and his wolf want more. But seducing a strong dominant wolf Changeling isn’t easy, especially if she has some fear and stubbornness to overcome. Indigo has never thought of Drew as a potential mate. For one he’s four years younger than her and two, he is also less dominant then her. She has personal seen how that can go wrong in a relationship. So she tells Drew ‘no’. But Drew may show the outside world a smile and easy-going character but that’s all a façade. If he chooses, he can just be as stubborn and cunning as his wolf. And Drew wants Indigo. So those two dominant characters start a very interesting journey but will it lead to love or heartbreak?
Indigo and Andrew were both great characters. It was wonderful to learn more about their characters and their fears. Drew was a very fascinating character and I can totally understand that Indigo and her wolf felt for him in the end. He and his wolf were charming, sneaky and they had so much love to give Indigo. And indigo may be stubborn but she never went too far with Drew. And that I loved about this story. The line between attracting and pushing away was very good balanced.
It was lovely to be back in the den of the wolves. To see Hawke and the pack again. To see previous characters again and to meet some new ones.
‘Play of passion’ was a great story.
Play of Passion (Psy-Changeling #9) by Nalini Singh –Indigo knows finding a life partner is hard enough, but when you have more rank than just about anyone you know…well it makes for a small pool of choices. Drew is a little younger, but he knows that if Indigo would give them a chance it would be worth it. In the process of circling each other, they run across evidence that the Psy Council are watching them. As they the packs for whatever is coming, Drew and Indigo have to decide if they have what it takes to survive together. On a side note, guys should really read this series. So many good ideas for romancing your lady! Happy Reading!
3.5 stars
Drew Kincaid is SnowDancer’s Tracker. It’s up to him to rein in rogue changelings who have lost control of their animals. Now he is facing his biggest challenge – win the heart of the dominant she wolf who he has wanted for years. Lieutenant Indigo Riviere is a dominant female who struggles to allow any man close to her. The last person she expects to be attracted to is Drew.
We finally have another changeling book. This one features both wolves this time though. I liked this one. Drew was a fun character but also could be serious when needed. He is the packs tracker which is probably the hardest position for anyone in the pack but he doesn’t let it hold him back. Drew was great for Indigo because he gets her to lighten up and embrace herself.
Indigo is a dominant who is terrified of commitment. She grew up seeing a dominant female in a negative relationship and it has clouded her views on commitment. While she was a bit bitchy I still liked her overall but she still did something that bothers me and made me not love her as much as I could have. I will just say that she tries to punish Drew and it involves an ex.
What I really enjoyed was the overarching story with Silence. Silence is starting to break down, new alliances are being made and Pure Psy are ramping up their attacks. I am really enjoying this complex world. I can’t wait to see what will happen next.
Play of Passion is a wolf to wolf pairing. Indigo is a dominant female wolf and 4 years older than Drew, whose dominance ranks lower than her. This is the main conflict of the story and a big reason why I didn’t enjoy this one as much as some of the others. My personal preference is a more dominant male and a little bit less pushing away. The Psy council part of the story showed a little bit of movement. I have to admit I’m pretty anxious to see how this part of the series is going to play out by the end. Overall, a good story, just not one of my favorite couples.
Love the whole series
Love each she writes
Another great edition in Nalini Singh’s psy/changeling series. Drew and Indy are complex and interesting characters who kept me turning pages.
OMG. Cuteness overload!
Merged review:
Excellent freaking series. Quite possibly one of my favorites ever, though I do love the Guild Hunter series more. Drew and Indy fit together so well in spite of my doubts. So good.
Let me start off by saying Drew kick’s ass ,I fell so completely in love with him 🙂
Drew is such an awesome character ,there isn’t one thing I would change about him,i loved that when he finally decided to court Indigo he gave it his all ,he is such a good hearted hunk ,i have no clue why Indigo tried to keep him in the friend zone when she felt the same pull towards him,i loved when he knew he was in the wrong and that he could still pull of saying sorry with roses and chocolate kisses , i felt like Indigo kinda gave him a really hard time just because he is a little younger then her,but in the end they finally get it right 🙂
I do like Indigo and i get where she was coming from not wanting to lose Drew , but there’s a time when you have to stop playing it safe , i really think Drew is the perfect mate for her,he’s caring and strong and no matter what he is always there if you need him,i think her aunt’s relationship had a negative effect of her views of mating, but i think after she takes the first step with Drew she see’s that their mating is nothing like her’s aunt’s , i loved that she was able to save Drew after he was hurt and that she finally gave her self to the bond 🙂 .
I loved everything about this book start to finish, i love reading Drew’s and Indigo’s book it was just awesome 🙂 Everyone must read this series because it is so kick ass 🙂
Nalini Singh is one of the best paranormal romance writers. The Psy-Changling series is wonderful. Just the right amount of high adrenaline action and sex. I can’t do it justice, just read it and fall in love, like me!
Play of Passion would have been a four star read for me if Indigo hadn’t did something so hurtful and hateful that I wanted to shake her. See I loved Drew and though at time Indigo came off witchy I still liked her. They were both flirting or courting if you will, Drew was trying to make her take them more serious and in a play to hurt him and push him away she went on a date with an ex lover. After that I wanted Drew to find someone else. I don’t mind push/pull in a book, but she crossed a line that can’t be forgiven with a sorry. Still the book was a 3 star read as I loved Drew and the ongoing plot the book.
