1778: France declares war on Great Britain, the British army leaves Philadelphia, and George Washington’s troops leave Valley Forge in pursuit. At this moment, Jamie Fraser returns from a presumed watery grave to discover that his best friend has married his wife, his illegitimate son has discovered (to his horror) who his father really is, and his beloved nephew, Ian, wants to marry a Quaker. Meanwhile, Jamie’s wife, Claire Randall, and his sister, Jenny, are busy picking up the pieces.
The Frasers can only be thankful that their daughter Brianna and her family are safe in twentieth-century Scotland. Or not. In fact, Brianna is searching for her own son, who was kidnapped by a man determined to learn her family’s secrets. Her husband, Roger, has ventured into the past in search of the missing boy . . . never suspecting that the object of his quest has not left the present. Now, with Roger out of the way, the kidnapper can focus on his true target: Brianna herself.

Perfection:)
I loved this book and all of Diana Gabladon’s books. I’ve read them all and have not been disappointed in any of them! I can’t wait for her next book to be done! I highly recommend all her books!
Excellent addition to the Outlander series. American civil war history, true love, and family time travel. Only Diana Gabaldon does it best!
I didn’t want the series to end.
All of her books are fantastic
Waiting for the next book in this series of Outlander by Diana Gabaldo !
I love this series
This is the 8th installment in the Outlander series. Our main characters are now really involved with the Continental army against the British in the American Revolutionary wars. And since they are in the thick of it, they encounter a lot of well-known historical figures and you have to admire Gabaldon’s attention to detail in order to have a good mix of historical accuracy and literary license with her fictional characters meeting the real people of the time. Now that I am caught up in the series, I eagerly await the 9th book which should hopefully be out in 2018 (Gabaldon admits it takes 4 years per book and 2018 will be 4 years). It does feel as though our main characters never catch a break but the end of this 8th book is pretty joyful.
Love all the boos in the outlander series.
