After some alarming turbulence during a flight, Penny West emerges from the aircraft to find herself in an alternate reality in which she is married to a man she’s never met in her own world.
“Lacy was asked to spy on Rico and when he found out he was very unhappy and planned to punish her until he felt he could trust she would never betray him again.” Penny was just getting to the good part when the stewardess interrupted her, telling her that her Kindle and phone needed to be stowed. Evidently, they were hitting some bad weather ahead.
The next thing she knows the plane is taking a huge dive, lights flashing before pitching them into total blackness, and passengers screaming. When the plane stabilized, she noticed the elderly woman beside her looked unconscious and her head hurt. Then the plane takes another dive.
When she opens her eyes again, there is a young woman sitting next to her flipping through a magazine. Did she pass out? The other passengers seemed to have calmed down and she didn’t notice the elderly woman finding another seat.
She lands at London Heathrow looking for her reserved cab when a man grabs her and kisses her. WTF! Who is this gorgeous man? She has no idea who this man is, but he can definitely kiss and he knows her name.
I loved this book! It is very well written and I found the storyline to be very intriguing. The plot is surprising and well thought out. The book doesn’t so much have a cliffhanger, more like leaves you with a beginning of the twist.
Penny finds herself in her fantasy, but is scared for multiple reasons and is expecting to lose her new found happiness at any second. David feels initial guilt, but then tries to get Penny to accept their new reality. I love the characters. They are fully developed and go through a huge range of emotions.
This book has a mind boggling plot and it is smoking hot. I want to land in Penny’s reality. Looking forward to the second book in this duet!

What would you do if you suddenly found yourself transported to a parallel universe where everything was different? You have a different home, different job and instead of being single, you discover you are actually married to a sexy tall American guy who shares all your kinky preferences?
To be honest I would probably behave exactly the same as Penny West, the heroine of Vanessa Brooks’ Claimed by Daddy when this happens to her: whirling through a merry-go-round of emotions including incredulity, fear, panic and – what with the sexy ‘new’ husband – lustful abandonment.
Given such an outlandish premise, it’s really rather relatable.
The book starts with Penny flying back from New York to London. The plane is caught in turbulence, she blacks out and then suddenly everything has changed. Well, not everything. She is still herself. Her face is the same, her family history is (almost) the same but suddenly she is in the middle of a life that she has no memory of.
Time slips are a tricky business. To everyone around her, Penny’s story seems wildly implausible. To everyone else, including her husband, she looks like the same person doing the same thing as she always done. But to Penny, it must feel like starting a movie halfway though with no memory of how the first half went.
Finding yourself a sexy husband who likes to practise Domestic Discipline and calls himself Daddy has its benefits, that’s for sure. David, the books hero, is pretty damned perfect, make no mistake about it. But it’s hard for Penny to get onboard with the situation when she not only has no memories of meeting and marrying him but also has her own perfectly clear memories of living a completely different life during that time period.
Luckily Penny has the support and acceptance of not only David, but also her sister, her sister’s partner and her Dad (who is actually dead in her own timeline). Once they are onboard, it becomes possible for Penny to accept her situation and focus on adjusting to her new reality.
And it’s a pretty amazing alternative reality that she finds herself in. She and David are clearly not short of a few quid, they run a successful business together and own a fancy house in an expensive part of London. Alternative-Reality Penny has the Submissive/Little lifestyle that Protagonist Penny had only ever dreamed of. She has her own special playspace and everything that a Little could wish for. And she has a husband who absolutely adores her.
Except there’s the problem. David adores his Penny. The one he married, the one with whom he has five years of shared history. Can he accept this interloper who doesn’t know anything about it, has no recollection of their wedding day, their favourite restaurants, their shared experiences and their in-jokes?
Can Penny allow herself to love David knowing that simultaneously she both is and isn’t the woman he loves?
Well, happily, they have a jolly lovely time of it finding out. The sex and spanking scenes in this book are absolutely delicious. Poor David has to adjust to a role which is outside any expectations that he might have had when he signed up for life as a Daddy Dom. That of negotiating a relationship with a woman who is both the person he knows both inside and out and who is also, in every meaningful way, a complete stranger that he needs to woo all over again. Given that Penny is physically exactly the same as his Penny, it does make it a lot more straightforward for him to give her the most earth shatteringly amazing orgasm that she has ever experienced. He literally knows which buttons to press.
They don’t just stop at the one earth shattering orgasm obviously. There’s lots of that sort of thing. Penny gets a very thorough lesson in everything that she has been hitherto missing out on.
There is a strong age-play element to this story. But there is also a lot of grown-up Dom/sub stuff as well. David and Penny draw a distinction between their age-play and their grown-up time. David actually tells Penny off at one point for using her “little voice” in the bedroom.
I wouldn’t describe myself as a Little (although there is definitely a Daddy Dom dynamic in my relationship with Gentleman Friend even though we would never use the actual ‘D word’.) I quite like Penny’s little lifestyle though. I’m quite jealous of all the Disney stuff she has, for one thing.
Claimed by Daddy is a highly original take on the Daddy/little genre. Cuddles, spanking, sex and the multiverse Many-Worlds Interpretation of Quantum Mechanics. It’s got it all!
I really, really hope that Vanessa Brooks writes a companion book to this one telling the story of the Other Penny who switches lives with our Penny at the start of the book. What does she do when she suddenly finds herself in a universe where she never met David? As Penny says to Davis, “I honestly believe that she would try to find you.” I think so too. How do you persuade a man who has never met you that he’s actually your tried-and-tested perfect Daddy Dom? Sneaky seduction or just fling yourself over his lap and be done with it? It would be great fun finding out.

I received an ARC from the author thru Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving my review. This was a complicated blend of romance with age play and science fiction. I grew up watching the twilight zone and at times I could almost hear the narrator of that show in my head. It’s hard to do a review without spilling too much. The storyline and characters had so many twists and turns. He wants his wife while she just wants the life she thought she had. I went back and reread parts because there were just so many pieces to it. I originally chose this book because I enjoy a good Daddy and Little girl story. This was that along with a lot of twists thrown in.

This is my first time reading this author and after reading the blurb I still wasn’t really expecting what I got. It’s a great story though and well worth taking the time to read. It’s a slightly different story that I’m used to reading when it comes to D/l relationships and that’s a good thing. I liked the plot and the characters.

The way this author handled the indecision and the hesitancy of the heroine in the story was amazing! She picked up on all the nuances of being a Little, and how an adult female would feel if thrown into that situation, with no previous experience. She handled the problems as well as the high points with aplomb (and I’ve always wanted to use that word in a review-yea me!). And that word sums it up well.
Vanessa Brooks writes very well, but more important than her writing skill is her ability to bring out the emotions that are attached to both the H and h when writing about a story line such as this. This book could have been a disaster if Ms. Brooks had not been able to put into words how a young woman would feel in the situations she finds herself in.
I’m not a huge fan of Daddy/Little stories. I understand the concept and have known people personally to be very into that scene. I read an ARC of this story because I enjoy the way Vanessa Brooks writes, each book gets better and better, and because I wanted to give the subject matter a fair shot and an honest assessment when I was done.
Kudos to the author for the brilliant writing and the forthright way the subject was handled! Thank you Ms. Brooks for the opportunity!

D/s Age-play with a twist
Once again Vanessa Brooks has taken a trope and given it her own twist. This time the trope is and twist added is an element of scifi/fantasty – alternate timeline. After a storm, Penny is thrust into alternate timeline where she is married and immersed into the D/s age-play lifestyle. The author portrays the emotional upheaval and lows and highs that Penny experiences with depth. Because the story is told through David’s point of view as well, we get to know the feelings and angst he feels. David grows to love Penny and is very tender, but firm when he needs to be. Added bonus is the hot love scenes. All combine to make a very enjoyable, 5 star read.

Wow, this story is out of this world unique and creative. I absolutely enjoyed reading it. The character pulls at your heartstrings as the story progresses. David and Penny are a wonderful couple. David struggles a bit with the truth of her reality but he eventually accepts it. A well written story that you will not want to put down. I highly recommend this tale if you like your romance hot, sweet, and a little kinky.

This story caught me from the beginning. I was drawn in by the plane ride and fascinated by the premise of the rest of the story. Although my personal “Daddy” is on more of an equal footing with me, this story offered a view of a relationship with more of an “age” differential. I liked the way this type of relationship was portrayed and found myself admiring Penny for her ability to recognize a personal issue and take steps to improve herself.

Wow! Unique daddy dom romance between Penny, a single woman flying home to England from America after a business trip, and David, an American now living in England. Twilight Zone, here we come. During her flight, there is turbulence and the lights go out. When they come back on again, there seem to be different people in the plane. When Penny departs the plane, she is met by David, who believes he is her husband/daddy. After a lot of confusion, thinking Penny is playing some kind of game or has been hurt, David takes her to his home. She is reunited with both her sister and her father, but neither is the same. What happened to her on the plane? As they try to figure this out, Penny and David grow closer. She comes to realize how much she loves her new daddy and her new lifestyle. This is a marvelous plot, well-written, steamy and hot, full of love and tenderness. What a great twist on the genre! A must read!
