No need to visit the ocean. The ocean is coming to visit you… to convince skeptical authorities of the risk, the likelihood of a more powerful seismic event grows…
This was an exciting read. The concept was original and the plot well crafted. All the characters were easy to relate to and well developed. Were it not a work of fiction, I could easily see some of these scenarios play out in real life.

Great read for a slow weekend! Loved the science that gave the story a realistic backbone! Could almost swear I felt tremors! Fast paced action and a strong, intelligent female lead – an excellent combination!

All I can say is “wow”. It is definitely a page turner book. I live in northern Georgia along the Appalachian Trail…..wonder if I would survive.

This was a somewhat entertaining book that captured reasonably well some peoples unwillingness to believe science. Unfortunately, in this case the science behind the story is completely nonsensical.

I’m always hesitant to review books I didn’t finish but I guess the fact that I didn’t finish says something.
I thought the book read like the author was hoping for a (made for TV?) movie to be made from it but the writing style wasn’t drawing me in and the characters seemed kind of stereotypical. The story seemed to be shaping up to be a rather routine disaster novel (keep in mind I didn’t finish it; maybe it gets better.) I don’t think I made it to 20%.
On the positive side, I learned a little. I was not familiar with the idea of intraplate earthquakes (I even googled it to be sure it wasn’t something the author made up to drive the story; they’re a real, if somewhat rare, thing). Unfortunately, the science wasn’t enough to keep my interest.

As with many books the author had a hard time coming up with an ending.

The premise is very scary. Entire east coast of USA wiped out by tsunami. The book i not believable, but is a good ride.

Good education on seismology, earthquakes and tsunamis. Other than than, just one catastrophe after the other, with little to differentiate among them. Stopped reading about 2/3 through.

A very technical look at earthquakes and unimaginable tsunamis which was interesting and scary. But the book didn’t quite capture the emotional element of such devastation.

This novel about huge tsunamis caused by unusual earthquakes is enlightening and alarming. The main characters were trying to convince a leading scientist to accept a geological process that did not fit into his current theory even though it could cause catastrophic numbers of deaths. I was unable stop reading this action packed and interesting story.

Not the best written book I’ve read. Story predictable. Lot of potential for character building, enhancing the story line, but felt the book fell short on both.

The tidal wave to end all tidal waves hits the east coast. Lots of geeky science talk if you’re in to that sort of thing. Author admits he takes some liberties with plate tectonics theory. Still, it’s a page turner. The main characters are simplistic, but he adds enough vignettes to give a human dimension to the story.

I believe this idea had some potential, even for a played out “super disaster” theme, but it was poorly executed. The plot is thin, the character development is almost non-existent and the writing is ultra dry with really weak descriptions. If this was a movie, it would be in the dregs of the B rated variety. Don’t waste your time.

I found this book to be too much into the scientific details for my liking. Kept losing my interest. But if the science behind big waves is of interest to you than this book is for you.
