Bitch games….yeah, we all PLAY them. Women, men…it doesn’t matter. We can all be B’s and we can ll play the gams. And sometimes those games are for keeps. But let’s explore some of the various games that are played. Man to woman. Woman to man. Man to man. Woman to woman. This compilation has it all. It’s steamy, it’s erotic, and most of all it’s full of twisted games.
This is a selection of short stories written by Andrea Smith and we all get to read them all at one time. Some will end with you heart melting and some will leave you scratching your head wondering what happened next. A few will even have you asking what exactly am I reading. This is the stories that women and men play when there out in the world trying to find someone to spend their time with. Or some are even naughtier. Either way you are sure to find something you like.
Each one of the stories in Bitch Games left me with an open mouth, lump in my throat, anger or oh, no! These are taboo at its best and Andrea Smith does it well. There should be a subtitle of “sharing is caring,” or maybe not! In the first story, you will find yourself with a need to commit matricide and patricide; okay, step-patricide! Then a night designed to be a simple hook-up in a bar turns into a fight for dominance with some very interesting equipment. The third story will make you laugh uncomfortably, before shock sets in, and you will never look at computer aided software in the same way. The fourth is nothing short of sweet and romantic, but you won’t see it coming. A sex therapist is gifted with the ability to see just what his clients need to get them through a traumatic experience, again and again. In the next story, Caden and Jen, Mason and Ally are couples who seem to be in committed relationships, even though Ally has an eye for the unconventional. I have to admit that I felt more than a little uncomfortable with her plan, and sick to my stomach as it all played out. Just, no! Next, Sherry’s mother and step-father are having difficulty conceiving. After spending their savings for fertility treatments that produce nothing, they make a deal with Sherry. What should have been clinical, turns personal and the lines between right and wrong are blurred. My feelings were terribly conflicted as to how it was resolved. And the last story, set in 1967, is about a young white woman who sets her sights on a beautiful black man, triggering a scandal in their small town. Nathan Crawl is a little more complicated than he first appears, and complicated is not a compliment. Velma and Pru are the closest of friends, never doubting their loyalty to one another. A subsequent lovers’ triangle turns into a heartbreak for Pru, and it doesn’t go well for Velma. In the end, for Pru, it’s a case of all’s well that ends well, with a “take that” to Nathan! This book is not for the weak of heart and it certainly is taboo. Andrea Smith has an eye, not only for the taboo, but for the dark taboo!
I suggest an icy cold margarita while reading this steamy, hot and twisted book! Each story is a short, well detailed and fast paced. Each story has an unpredictable and a wow ending. One of the story touched me in a relatable way. But each story is a bitch for sure!! Such a great read, from a super talented author.
Another 5 Star! I recommend this book and all of her books.
