Wildly imaginative! Wonderful characters. Interesting plot. Vivid descriptions. Simply a GREAT read!
*I received a complimentary ARC of this book in order to read and provide a voluntary, unbiased and honest review, should I choose to do so.
Excellent! A thrilling page-turner, with a cast of great characters and a story that will keep you reading non-stop until the end.
I love the concept of a genetically transmitted disease, a very dormant recessive gene than can unleash lycanthropy. I love that we soon discovered that Joe is a very unreliable narrator, even in his own head. I love that we really don’t have a clue about what’s going on, what’s true and what’s a lie, who is a friend and who a foe.
The story is simply fascinating, Joe’s head is a scary place, but the world? The world is even scarier.
A most recommended read for those who enjoy the genre.
Frightening!
I haven’t read a book like this in a long time. Right off the bat, you feel like you’re up to your elbows in alligators and snapping turtles! This book has it all, love, hate, sarcasm, comedy, drama, mystery, anger and forgiveness. It was scary, sad, a little bit funny, scary, and a whole lot of action, guns, and monsters. Oh, did I mention scary? I received an Advance Reader Copy and chose to provide this review.
I really enjoyed this book! There are all kinds of twists and turns that you don’t expect. The characters are well developed and the writing style is immersive – it really draws you in and keeps your attention. I definitely recommend this book!
“Truth is a war; science is my weapon’.”
“It’s only wrong when the opposition are doing it. They use torture; we use enhanced interrogation. They are invaders; we are liberators. We conceal the truth to protect you; they do it to deceive you.”
Dark, oppressive and grim, a paranormal and psychological thriller with gritty and horrifying undertones. A thrilling and twisted story! The story evolves with mystery and intrigue at every turn, a twisted and scary reality that had me glued to the book without consciousness of time. How our childhood can define our adulthood, depending on the strength of our mind and psyche. The flashbacks in conversations and thoughts of the characters are very informative to understand the personality of the protagonist and the rest of the characters. Just our basic fears, insecurities, form us as we grow up. The plot is so realistic it draws you in, absorbs your soul, makes you aware of your own harsh reality. The lengths the protagonist-a scientist- goes to save his sick daughter and create a cure, a cure that could result in a curse and detrimental to humans. The internal battle to sacrifice her life to save humanity from terrible horrors is a constant throughout the premise. It left me breathless, like a heavy weight on my chest, a pressing pressure that wouldn’t let me breath, a crushing feeling in my heart and choking sensation in my throat, I had to Will myself to not fall into such desperate and depressing situations. A truly impressive storyline, worth a read!
