“He thought I was his muse. Turned out, he was mine too.”
Maggie Stevens is done feeling objectified.
After spending her entire life in the spotlight and climbing the high fashion ranks as a model in LA, she’s willing to leave it all behind for a fresh start. Moving to Seattle seems like the perfect solution.
A clean slate.
New adventures.
Endless opportunities.
All is going according to plan. … adventures.
Endless opportunities.
All is going according to plan. Until she meets the drop-dead gorgeous cooking instructor who delights in adding to her misery.
Desmond Blake is determined to make a name for his culinary school–one that speaks to his hard work and undeniable passion.
The day his food photography hobby garners attention from an unexpected source, he knows his dreams are finally within reach. An obstacle he never sees coming? The sharp-tongued bombshell with a distaste for all he stands for.
When Desmond accidentally captures a photo of Maggie during a moment of weakness, he starts to see there’s more to the fashionista than meets the eye…
Sometimes what can be seen through the lens is a skewed version of reality. A bent perspective. Manufactured, therefore losing all sense of authenticity. And sometimes all it takes is a different angle to see what’s right in front of you.

I enjoyed this intensely emotional read. I thought that Maggie and Desmond made a compelling couple. Their chemistry and connection was powerful and undeniable. Sparks fly as these two clash and their relationship evolves from enemies to something so much more. Lots of emotions, tension, clever repartee and a slowly simmering attraction that deepens into sinfully delicious desire. A really, really good read!! This is my elective, candid review.
Through The Lens is just irresistible and completely captivating. I honestly couldn’t stop reading once I had started and ended up reading the entire book in a single sitting. It’s a beautiful, emotional, and wonderful story that captivates from the start. K.K. Allen is one of my favourite authors and she never fails to bring a terrific story that keeps you engrossed from beginning to end with her impeccable writing and her relatable and incredible characters that you can’t help but fall in love with.
From the first chapter, I fell in love with these characters and I was rooting for them from the get go. There was an amazing slow burn between Maggie and Desmond and when they finally got together, it was like pure magic. They have this undeniable beautiful connection and I absolutely loved reading their story. From their initial love hate relationship to their witty banter and the snark and sass, to their steamy passion; their romance story was a beautiful thing. This is a very emotional story and there were times that my heart broke for both Maggie and Desmond.
Through the Lens is a wonderfully beautiful story of two broken people discovering themselves and finding each other despite their flaws. This is more than a romance novel story and for me, K.K. Allen wrote a fabulous story and I truly loved everything about it.
K.K. Allen never cease to amaze me with her writting.
Every book, every chapter, every word are perfectly done.
Through the Lens is a masterpiece from the very first page until the last one.
From the banter, to the laugh.
From the hate, to the intense longing.
From the resentment, to the forgiveness.
From the angst and sadness, to the enough understanding.
A rollercoaster that will leave your heart in a puddle full of emotions.
This time around we get to experience something different and unique, just how K.K. knows how to do.
We get to see the life of 2 people with different path but because life, as always, has its downs just like a fashion runway, Desmond and Maggie crossed path, but this time with no return.
The electrifying connection between them is undeniable, the more they try to walk away from each other, the more their past and present keep bringing them back together until there is no more resistance.
But, like all beautiful stories, there is always tribulations trying to rip them apart or test the strength of their love. Will they be able to survive it all? Or will they let the thunder wash them away from each other?
Another 5 for an incredible Author!!
Highly recommend it!!
These two started out wrong but then little by little they started seeing past the annoyance. Maggie had daddy issues and an overbearing mother and Desmond was the total opposite. He thought she was a brat and she thought he was annoying but they had a lot in common. They were lost souls and eventually found each other and healed together. It was beautiful to see how they got together and also how they both healed especially Maggie. Both her and her sister overcame a lot together and it was nice to see them moving forward. Desmond was amazing and him and Maggie had some funny banters but they were perfect for each other. They made each other whole.
This is the first book I’ve read by this author. It was a slow burn enemies to lovers book. I really enjoyed it. I loved Desmond and Maggie.
Maggie really had become disenchanted with her life. Desmond was working hard to make his dreams of the kitchen come true. When they meet, they each take an instant disliking for one another. I love when characters are like this. It makes the fall that much sweeter.
This is an angsty, romantic, and funny book. It was also steamy hot. Desmond was sexy and confident. When he finally set his eyes on her, it was very obvious. One of my favorite lines was “Whoa, that escalated quickly.” Maggie’s thoughts would run away for her from time to time… I laughed out loud at that particular thought. This book was good! I would recommend it.
First, I want my own Desmond. Now, I can say I devoured this book and could not put it down. Maggie and Desmond pulled me in from the start and took my a one emotional roller coaster. Maggie is trying to figure out what she wants out of live while still dealing with past events in her life. Desmond, the hot chef with a habit of taking pictures, has gone through things and is trying to achieve his goal with his business. These two are thrown together to help each other out, but can they get past their hate towards each other and look past assumptions they have for the other? This story was fun, flirty, breaks your heart and puts it back beautifully. Desmond and Maggie will melt your hearts and leave you wanting more!
We meet Maggie, an upcoming model who is currently walking in her final runaway show to hopefully star in a soap opera. Desmond Blake, a chef meets Faye Montgomery, a food critic on their way to Seattle. Desmond tells Faye all about his culinary business that he started with a friend. Faye then gives Desmond her number so when she’s in town again, she can possibly tape a segment for her show on their culinary school and Desmond’s talents.
I absolutely loved this book. I need more of Maggie’s and Desmond’s story. This was my first book by Ms. Allen but certainly not my last.
