An interesting story of slander, loss, betrayal, conviction and loyalty. I liked the storyline. A daughter, Laura, out to avenge and redeem the good name of her father after his best friend slung it through the mud with false accusations. Laura had guts to do what she did. To venture out in the world alone on her quest. Other than lie about her name, she was honest, forthright, caring and loving. Callum, the son of her father’s former best friend and business partner had responsibility and social skill issues. It was Laura’s good fortune that Callum despite his drawbacks fell for her and she for him. I never truly understood the animosity between Callum and Andrew. The twins were adorable and so was the cook Zelda. Zelda really had some depth to her character and she opened up to Laura about what it was like to grow old and look back and realize the things that could have been different. She encouraged Laura to fight for what she wanted and live, not to take anything for granted. That was a beautiful moment. Although the story was a slight slow it was still interesting.
Her family is devastated when her father is accused and convicted of a major crime he did not commit. They sold all they had and gave it to the partner. Left them with nothing. She takes a job as a Governess with the deceased partners nephew to look after his uncle who was the partner dies. But the thing is the nephew knows she is lying about something and doesn’t know what. She is determined to find out what happened and clear her father’s name. It has danger, intrigue, excitement, twists and turns, suspense, so many emotions and much more. I highly recommend it. I received a review copy and voluntarily review it.
Perfectly charming and heartwarming characters. Just enough heat! Interesting plot that kept me thoroughly engaged throughout. Enjoyed every minute of it!

A lie became something more.
Oh, the characters in this piece were wonderful, the plot was such fun, and over this entire book was just a grand read. What started out with a lie became something more like twins and their uncle. It is a mystery and a romance all rolled up in one well-written tale. I always look forward to reading a book by Emily Honeyfield they are simply entertaining. High praise for this charmer I highly recommend.
Secrets, lies, vengeance, love, all in a neatly done Regency Period setting in a truly well written tale that is Laura and Callum’s romance in Emily Honeyfield’s Nothing Like a Ravishing Governess. Definitely a fun read that I’m happy to recommend.
Beware of a wolf in sheep’s clothing
Laura’s father, Timothy Pierce, is found guilty of embezzlement and prosecuted to the full extent of the law. All of his assets went to his partner as reimbursement for the missing funds. His family would have been homeless if his brother had not taken Timothy, his wife, and Laura into his home.
Laura knows her father is incapable of this crime. She wants his name vindicated, and the actual culprit found. Laura applies for the position of governess in the ex-partners’home using a different surname. The twin 6-year-old boys that she teaches are orphans. Their uncle Callum Burke is now standing in as a father figure.
At a stop, near the end of the trip to the manor, Laura is accosted by two men. She pays for a horse and leaves abruptly, trying to get away from the men who proceed to follow her. Callum Burke rescues her from an attempted abduction and assault. The two men want more than just her money.
Things are dicey between Callum and Laura. He knows she’s lying, but he does not know why. The more frequently that they interact with each other, the higher the tension between them becomes.
Read to find out what happens to the two unlikely combatants? What is going on with the ground keeper’s son? See if Laura can find proof her father is innocent? What happens when Laura tells why she is there and gives her real name?
I am an ARC reader and own the book.
