A sizzling story of everyone’s favorite couple from amazing Stephanie Evanovich’s New York Times bestseller Big Girl Panties: hunky professional baseball player Chase Walker and his sassy wife Amanda. When pro baseball player Chase Walker first meets Amanda at her restaurant, it’s love at first sight. While Amanda can’t help noticing the superstar with the Greek-god-build, he doesn’t have a chance … Greek-god-build, he doesn’t have a chance of getting to first—or any other—base with her. A successful entrepreneur who’s built her business from scratch, Amanda doesn’t need a Prince Charming to sweep her off her feet. And a curvy girl who likes to cook and eat isn’t interested in being around the catty, stick-thin herd of females chasing Chase and his teammates.
But Chase isn’t about to strike out. A man who isn’t interested in playing the field, he’s a monogamist who wants an independent woman like Amanda. His hopes rally when she discovers that squeaky-clean Chase has a few sexy and very secret pre-game rituals that turn the smart, headstrong businesswoman on—and into his number one fan.
Then a tabloid discovers the truth and turns their spanking good fun into a late- night punchline. Is Amanda ready to let loose and swing for the fences? Or will the pressure of Chase’s stardom force them to call it quits?

This the first novel that I’ve read by Stephanie Evanovich. My daughter owned the book, but I couldn’t wait for her to give it to me,so I could read it. I luckily was able purchase one of the last hardcovers with the original cover photography on Amazon. (Love this cover more than the new one)
The story takes place in and around NJ and NY. Being a full-fledged Jersey Girl; born and raised and still living here, made me smile.
The story is about an restauranteur Amanda Cole and Pro- Athlete, “golden boy” Chase Walker. Amanda loved her life and was quite settled. Then enter Chase who turned her world upside-down. She loved being with him. He was perfect…the total package. Perhaps, he was too perfect.
Only… Chase’s perfection held a secret. A secret that in the beginning Amanda questioned and struggled to live with. Yet, their relationship and love grew strong, their loyalty knew no-bounds.
Then, the secret that Chase had and Amanda came to terms with took an unwanted turn and exposed each of them. Something Chase had to man-up to and one that Amanda needed to run from.
Stephanie’s writing and this story had me laughing out loud, sighing deeply, swooning a bit and shedding several tears.
If you haven’t read this novel, I hope you will. It’s now one of my favorites.
Hilarious circumstances weave this timely tale. The author’s word smithy ability causes the reader to chuckle and laugh out loud more than once on this reading adventure. You will be sorry at book’s end which for just one more page of enjoyment.
This author makes me laugh. Her light-hearted stories are a great read anytime, especially during a pandemic lockdown! Forget about all of the crazy stuff going on in the world with Her book!
You can’t go wrong with this author! Love me some Ms. Evanovich
Adorable
Great Book
Good read
Not as funny as I anticipated it would be
*clears throat* Well, that was… different.
I had never heard of this author, but that was what I was looking for: something new. Annnnd done!
I had such mixed feelings about this book. I do not judge someone based on their, shall we say, intimate quirks. However, I will judge someone that gives no explanation to his partner and just starts striking her without her understanding or consent. Regardless if it is your kink or not, that is NOT ok. That is abuse. This is only highlighted by the fact that she was crying and scared and confused. In my opinion, it would have taken a completely different tone had she been forewarned or eased into it somehow. Instead, she was abused and then told that basically this is him, get used to it or get out. I don’t understand what part of this is ok.
Though I did disapprove, I finished the book. The writing was great and the characters were well developed. For me, certain aspects of the story did keep me turning the pages to see how it ended (and it was a sweet ending). I just wished the author had taken a minute to finesse the aforementioned details.
This book was totally not what I thought it was. I thought it was a fun romance about a regular girl falling for a baseball superstar. I am sucker for those. This was that but it was so much more. Amanda is a driven, independent woman who has worked hard for the success she has in her life. She is a restaurant owner and a total control freak. Chase is a baseball super star who is used to getting what he wants. And what he wants is Amanda. So he spends the time wooing her. Amanda is not the normal woman he is used to. It takes serious time before she gives him a chance.Once she does allow herself to fall for him they begin a sweet, heart warming romance. But Chase has a secret. And Amanda soon learns it. Chase likes it rough in the bedroom. Nothing dangerous, but definitely nothing Amanda is used to. This is the side of Chase he keeps hidden from the public eye. Amanda gives it a chance and finds she enjoys it too. Then they are careless when they think they are alone and a fun spanking turns into a media nightmare. Amanda runs. Chase tries to cool it all down. Now it’s up to Amanda if she wants to continue on. And when she comes to her decision it is her who has to woo Chase this time.
I just loved this couple. Yes, there were a few times Amanda drove me insane. I wanted to yell, “Give him a chance!” Then it was “don’t punish him for what happened!” I was totally team Chase the whole time. As the story went on I started to understand Amanda and I was rooting for her happiness with Chase. And I also liked that this book showed a normal couple that liked it a little rough and fun between the sheets. They weren’t dominants and submissives. They were two people who respect each other and don’t want to hurt each other. That’s what love is all about. Finding that compatible person who shares what you like. This is a great romance. Can’t suggest it enough!
Pretty sexy, but a happy ever after.
A romantic comedy with a naughty twist! Loved every minute of this entertaining read! Highly recommend it!!
I like all the Evanovich books, but this one was awful.
Just like her first book I really enjoyed it. You should start with her first book.
Absolutely horrible! I picked up this book from the library, noticing only the Evanovich name and not that it was Stephanie and not Janet. The writing itself was strong enough to keep me reading, but the story line, the characters and the action were absysmal. This book is supposed to be a darling little charmer of a romance, but the main character ends up being abused by her baseball boyfriend and puts up with it! I was affronted and pissed. Having read hundreds and hundreds of books (maybe even thousands), there are fewer than a dozen books I have not finished. Some really lame and poorly written books I have finished for one reason or another, but this one got returned without my even checking to see how it ended. I simply didn’t care. If Amanda stayed with Chase, I didn’t care to know. If the media found out about his “kinky” habit (i.e., abuse), I didn’t care. I was horribly disappointed to have wasted any amount of time reading this book and have tried to balance it out by warning anyone else who might be curious about reading this. Just. Dont. Do. It. Unless you are into some low level S&M, are good with clearly stalkerish behavior, or just don’t think much when you read, move on past this one.
This is an S & M book billed as a fun little romance.
This book is a fun quick read. If you’re looking for something light to read, I highly recommend this.
