Heaven refers to them as Misplaced Halos. Humans don’t even know they exist. Like angels, vampires have been protecting humans from demons while keeping to the shadows, lurking in the darkness. In return, they’ve asked for nothing. Until now. After the heinous slaughter of his father, the Alpha Vampire, Kaj Courtenay finds himself taking on the role of the most powerful vampire in existence. He’s … in existence. He’s up against traitors out to topple him, demons bent on eliminating the vampire race entirely, and an archangel who has other plans for them. It’s all Kaj can do to maintain his focus, but he knows it would be easier with the female who owns him, heart, body, and soul at his side. Problem is convincing her.
Acadia only knows a life of subservience. She has spent fifteen hundred years bound to the Angels of Darkness, her race used as their life source to maintain their existence on Earth. Living out eternity at their mercy is her destiny, beyond her control. It has never been something she questioned. Not until Kaj appeared in her life and gave her something to live for, made her question her very existence. Acadia knows resisting the powerful vampire is futile. He holds her heart. Problem is, it isn’t hers to give.
Kaj and Acadia must break the chains that have bound them to their pasts so they can embrace the future and conquer the enormous obstacles and ridiculous odds standing in their way. And for the sake of all, they must do it together.

4.5 Star review of Bound In Darkness (Misplaced Halos #3) by Nicole Edwards
I was a little surprised at how much I enjoyed this story as I freely admit that paranormal stories are not one of my go to genres to read.
This story is vampire Kaj Courtenay and the woman who brings him to his knees Acadia. Kaj has enemies, not only from within his own race, but others who are out to destroy him and his kind. He knows he needs to focus on what is happening around him and the danger that surrounds him but he is bound and determined to convince Acadia that she is the one for him.
Acadia is not free to love Kaj and both of them must fight to break free of the ties that bind them and their pasts before they can make a life together. The question is what will it cost them and is it worth the price that will be paid?
The chemistry between Kaj and Acadia is intense and you can feel the heat rising between them as well as their connection to one another.
I was drawn into the story that Ms.Edwards wove. There was so much going on in this story, you really need to experience it for yourself.
If you are a fan of paranormal romance then this book will be right up your alley. Bound in Darkness is a well written love story about true soul mates that just happens to revolve around Angels, Demons and Vampires.
First of all I loved Kaj and Acadia. The characters were great. So glad they got their second chance. But I gotta tell ya it was boring. It was all about emotion (which is fine but not what I’ve come to expect from this series) and maybe setting up for upcoming books. But again soooo boring. I’m hoping everything picks back up with the next book.
This series has me so wrapped up in it that I am dreaming of the next installment!
I am not (or was not) a fantasy-trope reader but these Misplaced Halos, the angels, vampires & fae have me so enthralled with each new twist & turn in there story. As each character finds their place & their person, I fall even more in love!
4.5 stars
The story of Kaj and Acadia has been teased since the beginning of the series, so it was great to see them finally get their HEA. On top of that, the storyline for Oliver (Khari) and Bijou progressed to a point I’m panting for more.
Acadia has served the angels for centuries. In fact, as far as she’s concerned, that is the only reason she and the other Fae are alive. Not because the angels treat them as anything other than family. No, it’s due to some terrible thing her ancestors did in the distant past that caused God to punish the whole race. The Fae at Angel Central are all that are left in the world and she is scared to compromise their safety by admitting her love of Kaj, the Alpha of the vampire race.
Kaj has lived most of his life as a protector of his father, the alpha…until he was too late to save his father and most of his family from a sneak attack. Kaj is not exactly comfortable as the new alpha. On top of trying to come to terms with his new role, he has guilt for not being there for his father. Kaj is a doer, he doesn’t know if he can sit behind a desk in the role of leader. His Zenith (band of brothers who protect him and help him lead) helps him to find his way. They give him the space to work things out on his own but also nudge him in the right direction.
While Acadia and Kaj both know they love each other, they both hold back on going all in and admitting the depth of their feelings because of their other obligations. They feel torn between their dedication to their own races and their dedication to one another. Luckily, they have wonderful friends and family that help them see they can have each other and also do what is right for their people. For Kaj, finally having the freedom to mate Acadia, to know she’ll be okay with all that entails, is the biggest relief.
I absolutely loved all of the other stories going on in this book. Not only did we see a lot of Oliver and Bijou, there’s also an intense connection between Apollo and Blaz. Hoo boy! Their story is FIRE! There’s the mysterious introduction (to the reader only) of an unknown amnesiac immortal…or so it seems. And we still get peeks at poor Asmia.
With each story in this series I find myself getting more and more invested. The author is doing an amazing job growing the world of angels, vampires, and demons.
Each book gets better and the intrigue has me going out of my mind. With each book you be another piece to the whole story. Kaj and Acadia have been my favorite so far. I love all the stories that are interwoven throughout the book. I can’t wait for the next one.
I am so in love with the Misplaced Halos series. As soon as I was done with Salvation, I knew Bound in Darkness was going to be awesome. I was not wrong!!
I love Kaj and Acadia. Nicole keeps me spellbound in these books. I really liked that she gave us the background of Kaj and Acadia when they first met and fell in love. Their storyline was so romantic.
Vampires are one of my most favorite paranormal characters and these are going to be epic. If you’re reading this series then you’re going to love this book. If you haven’t started yet, what are you waiting for?
This series is keeping me at the edge of my seat. Heck, I’m already wanting the next book. I am so enthralled!! There were so many things happening, so many of the characters being mentioned for future books. Awesome story Nicole Edwards!!
Bound in Darkness is the third book in Nicole Edwards’ Misplaced Halos Series. While paranormal is not my first genre choice when reading, I have to say that I have really enjoyed this series as a whole.
Kaj and Arcadia have many issues in their individual lives to overcome, in order to have a life together. And when they finally do come together….they make an explosive couple.
I like how the characters are unique and the story line flow is even . At no time did I feel that the story was dragging on or being rushed.
Bound in Darkness is a book I would recommend to anyone who likes paranormal romance, particularly in the vampire sub genre.
Another fantastic book in this series!! I’m so happy Ms Edwards decided to write in this genre, she certainly has the talent and imagination for it! There is so much going on in this story that piques your interest from the start and never lets go. In my opinion in order to truly understand this world and where they are at right now, you need to start at book 1. And believe me you will not regret it if you do, it is truly a phenomenal paranormal romance series! If you love that genre, you will love this book and series! I am a long time fan of this genre and I have to say that this is one of the best series I’ve read.
Although this story is mainly about the second chance given to Kaj and Acadia, there are many other important side stories/events happening as well. That is one of the things I love so much about this series. Never a dull moment, as it were. But Kaj and Acadia’s uber steamy romance in the present and the look into what happened between them a few years ago, is certainly enough. I love these characters so much and was fully invested in their HEA.
Bound in Darkness is book 3 in the Misplaced Halos series and this series keeps getting better and better! I do highly recommend that you read the two previous books in this series to have a full understanding of the characters and the overall plot line.
This story is fast-paced and complex with a lot of moving parts and you can feel the energy of this story building and building as alliances are strengthened and a common enemy is still a threat.
This book is focused more on the vampires than the angels with the main characters being Kaj and Acadia but there are still so many other characters in play with all of their side stories.
This is an exciting book to read so grab your copy and hold on because this ride is not over!
4.5 Stars for Bound in Darkness book 3 in the Misplaced Halos Series
I have to admit paranormal is not one of my preferred genres but I’m loving everything I read in this series, maybe it’s the authors writing, maybe it’s because each one of these books is a true love story.
In Bound in Darkness we get to know vampire Kaj and the angel of darkness Acadia. This couple should not have feelings for each other and they certainly can’t be together without breaking the chains that have them bound to their pasts…..
Many obstacles need to be overcome for Kaj and Acadia to be together, the odds are against them but when you truly love someone you will move heaven and earth to be together and that’s exactly what’s needed for them to get the HEA they both deserve.
This story of Angels, Demons and Vampires captivated me from the first page to the last line, I read this book in one sitting and I lost sleep because I couldn’t put it down, I needed to know the outcome for a couple I fell hook line and sinker for. A love story like no other as these soul mates come together as one. I highly recommend this to paranormal lovers as well as all romance lovers.
