An Amish girl’s disappearance is a mystery…
and the clues lead straight into danger at Christmas.
Convinced her friend didn’t run away as the police believe, Lizzie Kauffman searches for the truth—but someone will kill to keep it hidden. Now the Amish housekeeper and her friend Caleb Zook are on the run for their lives. And if they want to find their missing friend, Lizzie and Caleb must figure out a way to survive the holidays.
This is Lizzie Kauffman and Caleb Zook’s story.
This is Emma Bontrager’s story.
“I’m running out of time,” Lizzie Kauffman moaned as she reached for the polishing cloth and rubbed it over the silver teapot.
Her housekeeping job at Thad Thompson’s estate in Sarasota, Florida, would end Saturday, and she had yet to find information about Mr. Thompson’s twenty-five-year-old adoptive son, Andrew.
The memory of what had happened three years ago continued to haunt her. The police had been convinced Andrew was out of the country the night her best friend, Emma Bontrager, had gone missing.
With a heavy heart, Lizzie regarded her own reflection staring back at her as the silver began to shine. She knew the truth about that night, but law enforcement had failed to listen when a young Amish girl on vacation with her family claimed the son of one of Sarasota’s most prominent businessmen had kidnapped her friend.
Caleb couldn’ let Lizzie travel to Freemont alone. He would never forgive himself if something happened to her,and after the shooting at the coffee shop, her situation had gone from dangerous to deadly.
Aithough the shots had been meant for Jeb, Lizzie could have been injured.
Thankfully was the reporter’s wound was superficial, not that a flesh wound wasn’t significant.
I recommend reading.

Plenty of excitement and a sweet romance!
I completely enjoyed this romantic suspense story! Lizzie Kauffman felt guilty about her part in a friend’s disappearance, so she left her Amish community three years ago to search for her missing friend. By coincidence…or His plan…..Lizzie reconnects with longtime friend, Caleb Zook, who helps in the search for Emma.
As the investigation of Emma’s location continues, this sweet couple faces the hopes, then the disappointments together. Danger is always near, with close calls and exciting escapes. During all the excitement, it’s touching to experience how Caleb and Lizzie watch out for each other as the attraction between them builds.
I really liked both the heroine and the hero. I admired Lizzie’s dedication to finding her friend, which took great perseverance and self-sacrifice. Caleb is protective, intelligent, and such a caring person. Since his intentions were misunderstood in the past, the story reveals his true heart and a lovely romance. Additionally, the details of Amish life are comforting and interesting to read about, including touches of the Christmas celebration. If you enjoy romantic suspense, you won’t want to miss this special story written by one of my favorite authors.

I stayed up way to late to finish this as I could not put it down. Full of intrigue and suspense and balanced with blooming romance it takes you on a thrill ride. The characters pull you into their world and you definitely want more when it is all over. I love LIS and this author has it perfected to keep you coming back for more. I don’t always have time for a full length novel and this satisfies the need to read but more quickly. I won a complimentary copy of this book.
