They call me the dagger.
I’m a famed assassin.
It’s all I’ve ever known.
All that I can remember.
So when a white rabbit tells me that loved ones are waiting for me in the Wonderland Court of Faerie, it’s surprising. And then, I learn something even more shocking.
The Red Queen stole the crown from my mother—who she murdered. The queen singlehandedly created my reality of death and blood … Queen stole the crown from my mother—who she murdered. The queen singlehandedly created my reality of death and blood and murder.
While that’s devastating, I can handle it. As long as I get revenge.
What I don’t know how to handle is Henri Hatter.
He’s a rebel leader loved by everyone. A man who sings in the streets because people ask for aether’s sake. A faerie who knows more about my past than anyone—including me.
A good man who could crush my heart if I let him in. Which I can’t do.
Not if I want vengeance against the queen who ruined my life. Despite my claims that I work alone, Hatter and two nosey little pixies insist on sticking with me.
Only one thing is for sure, with them by my side assassinating the Red Queen will be unlike any other job I’ve ever tackled.
Alice the Dagger is a fae romance. Readers who love adventure, slow-burn romances, whimsical worlds, spunky sidekicks, and lots of action will love Alice the Dagger.

Note: I received this book from the author and I voluntarily give this review, it is my honest opinion.
Alice the Dagger is an amazing Alice in Wonderland retelling except the fae are involved and Alice is a deadly assassin known as the Dagger. If you’ve read or know of the Alice in Wonderland story then you will recognize the Wonderland quarks that are throughout the story and will enjoy. I, for one, didn’t like the Alice in Wonderland book, I tried but failed to enjoy it however I learned that I like the retellings. So far this is my third or fourth retelling and I find that I really enjoy them so fans of Alice and not will enjoy this crazy, wonderful, creative, story.
Alice is a teenager living in the human world, hiding her fae heritage while working in the supernatural shadows as an assassin. I know it sounds amazing already. Alice was raised by a vampire and has been trained as an assassin ever since she was young this has created a by-product of Alice always being alone, working alone and cut off from her feelings. Her personality is very understandable and I liked her before but her adventures in Wonderland causes Alice to grow so much, Ashley managed the growth so smoothly, so naturally that even I as a reader couldn’t pinpoint when she change just that she did. I loved Alice’s personality, she didn’t take crap but still cared, she determined and sharp and still thought of others.
All the usually wonderland characters were present but with Ashley’s take on them. They were present but totally different such as the famous Wonderland twins Tweddle Dee and Tweddle Dum are turned into a pair of sassy twin pixies Dee and Dum. However true to the characters they brought some comedy but not over the top. This is just a prime example of the slight tweaks that Ashley has given the story. Things feel very familiar giving me the feeling of something know while being its own thing. I enjoyed everything about this story. I was entertained throughout the story and loved every single second of it, I have no complaints. While the story did conclude well, I was surprised to realize that Alice the Dagger is just the first book in the series. I am excited to read the next book because I have a few questions that I want answered and I have no idea what’s gonna happen next in this crazy story.
Alice Queenly was raised by Xavier, a Vampire who has her trained as an assassin. Eight days before her 18th birthday, when Alice is on her way to see Xavier, a rabbit shows up telling her she was needed in Wonderland. Alice thinks she is only half-fae and was never told anything about her previous life in Wonderland so this is a surprise to her. This is an exciting tale with lots of action. Highly recommended.

This is a rabbit hole that you WANT to go down!! Ashley did an amazing job with this retelling of the classic fairytale.
A paid fae assassin raised by vampires comes along a talking white rabbit that sends her on a mission regarding her long lost family and to help save Wonderland Court.
Whimsical, humorous, emotional and suspenseful rollercoaster ride that has a slow burn romance sprinkled throughout.
The book is AMAZING. I mean Alice is an ASSASSIN. Oh, and I love the idea that Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum instead of being males they’re a pair of badass pixie twin sisters. The world is amazingly written and I love the ending to the book. This book is a definite read. Can’t wait to see what happens in the next book.
I wasn’t a fan of this book until I was 90% done with it, and the twist/cliffhanger left there is actually enough to make me want to read the sequel. 3 stars for the majority of the book, a half star for the intriguing ending, rounded to 4 stars.
This is a new to me author and alls I can say is wow what a creative take on Alice in wonderland I have really been enjoying new authors takes on old classic story. The characters are captivating and intriguing and the storyline takes you along on the journey can’t wait to read more books by this author this one is the first in the series

This is an Alice in Wonderland retelling unlike any other. This Alice is bold, brash and an assassin. There is an excitement and action in every turn of the page. A definite refreshing and unique approach told in vibrant and gifted detail. All your favorite characters from the original story are present but so much better and fun to read.

I’ve been wanting to read a Alice in Wonderland re-imagining, so I was excited to read this. Fun, entertaining read! Alice is an assassin because she owes a vampire, but it turns out that there’s been lots of secrets kept from her. Alice is surprised to find out that she has family, she has ties to the Fae realm, and there’s an evil red queen out to kill Alice. Alice finds herself on an interesting adventure with some quirky characters. Excellent to have characters such as Hatter, the Cheshire cat, and more fun characters from the Alice in Wonderland tale in this story. Love that Alice kicks butt, and I liked the action to the story; lots of dangerous situations for Alice. Cool magical elements, and of course, the setting is kooky, so that makes for some entertaining scenarios. I would’ve liked a bit more depth overall, but I still really enjoyed the read and am looking forward to more!
I liked this story. It took the elements of Alice and Wonderland and gave them a paranormal twist. It was interesting and entertaining. I loved Alice and Hatter and the 2 pixie sidekicks were a laugh. There was action, danger, revenge plans, and characters that were a great read. I really liked it and the different take of it all. The story drew me in especially Alice. I had to see what was around the next corner, I mean chapter. Just a fun read that I hope gets more stories in this world.
I love everything Alice in Wonderland. It’s always been my favorite story so when I find retelling I did right in. This book does not disappoint. The author takes our protagonist’s character in a different direction. Yes, there are all still the same plot and premise behind Lewis Carroll’s Alice but in this book Alice is a faerie and Alice goes through slightly different trials and tribulations. Along the way she meets the White Rabbit, The Hatter, the March Hare, the Red Queen and other well known characters.
The author gives us enough background story to make the characters lovable and believable. The storyline has plenty of adventure and action, a little suspense, a little romance and a lot of fantasy, as it should, it’s Alice after all.
I found this book very enjoyable and I’m looking forward to the next book in the series.
If you love Alice, fantasy or just a good read then this book won’t disappoint.

This is a slow burn standalone. This isn’t your mothers bedtime story of Alice in wonderland you heard. She is a bad @ss assassin which I loved because usually that would be thought of as a man’s job she is also a lone wolf. This book has serious twists and turns that keep you guessing.
Alice the Dagger is the modern retelling of Alice in Wonderland. All your favorite characters are there, Alice, Hatter, March Hare, and the Queen of Hearts. This retelling takes place in Faerie and Alice isn’t a sweet innocent girl, she is just shy of her eighteenth birthday and is a renowned assassin. There is death as well as danger at every turn. Alice must be strong to protect the people she cares about and release them from the evil rule of the Queen of Hearts. The story is action packed and fast moving. Ashley McLeo has done it again, this is a must read!
I haven’t read this book yet. After I read it I will update my review. This seems like a good read to me, so time will tell.

I absolutely love retelling s of fairytales and Ashley’s take on Alice in Wonderland blew my mind, fantastic worldbuilding and brilliant characters that you’ll love and hate,Alice isn’t your typical teenage girl on the brink to adulthood, she’s been modeled into a killer who has been taught to suppress her feelings and emotions, while going on another assignment she literally gets pulled down the rabbit hole, where she learns her whole life has been a lie, this where she goes on an adventure of a lifetime, she meets amazing quirky characters,it has plenty of laughs, weirdness and entertainment to keep you hooked till the last page, one of the best retellings I’ve read, can’t wait to what Ashley comes up with nextI
I enjoyed this book and am looking forward to the rest of the series.
