Sam and Rob meet in the hospital at an extremely stressful time for Sam and Rob offers some much needed comfort. It turns out that the comfort actually goes both ways and the two develop a relationship that deepens very quickly. Unfortunately, there are secrets from the past that could ruin everything if these two don’t open up and trust each other. I loved this story of two really caring, decent guys who really deserve their HEA.
Everyone has secrets, but when is a good time to spill? Sam Miller is a man who does not take anyone or life for granted. His Aunt took him in when his Mother passed and he contributes to their catering business Poppy’s Pantry as an act of love. He gets lots of support from friends. But he still feels the pressure. They compliment each other and cautiously find comfort in each other. Can they open up to each other? Can they trust each other? Will they accept each other’s secrets? They grow and change as their relationship progresses. Is it enough? Nice read. Great guys. Characters give you a feel good vibe while you root for Sam and Rob. excellent start to a new series. I received an ARC from Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. Nice cover art!
Sam’s aunt is in the hospital with a broken hip. He meets Rob who works at the hospital. They have a connection but Rob has secrets. I really enjoyed this book.
A fabulous story. “More Than A Superstar” offered great escapism with the perfect blend of sweetness and heat. The angst was superbly paced and introduced so I wasn’t left wanting to pull my hair out in distress. And more importantly, I routed for Sam and Taylor very, very vocally. They so deserved their HEA.
Charming slow-burn romance, from friends to lovers and so much more. I enjoyed the character development of Sam and Rob. My heart often hurt for them as they hid parts of themselves. They both were struggling with so much and their connection was important to their survival. The writing was good and the story-line was engaging. I liked the pacing of the story, it kept me reading and enjoying.
This is book one of the More Than series and i am looking forward to the next book!
I was gifted this book from the author and i freely give my review
This was a sweet slow-burn romance between Sam and Rob that had me captivated from the start. Both men are lovable characters. Both have secrets they don’t reveal right away. Sometimes half truths are more damaging than saying nothing at all, but I get why Rob doesn’t tell everything. It’s not easy to confess, especially not when you’re starting a relationship.
The story progresses at a steady pace with a few sexy moments, just right for the kind of romance they have, and has a wonderful HEA.
I really enjoyed the time reading this really charming, yet emotional, sweet, yet filled with angst, sexy, delightful, and totally awesome twist on the traditionalll. Filled with secrets, misunderstandings, it is based loosely on the friends to lovers trope and finally ends with a wonderful HEA. I would recommend getting this gem for one of those days where you just want to crawl into bed or your favorite chair for a relaxing day with your new favorite book.
Sam and Rob’s story is a fairly sweet, low-heat, contemporary romance, with a touch of angst and drama. For me, all the drama that came from the secrets and miscommunication was a little over-the-top, but I definitely did enjoy the story, and found the connection between the MCs to be tangible and well-developed. Would have loved an epilogue but hoping this isn’t the last we’ll see of Sam and Rob in this series!
Nic Starr is an auto buy for me. This is a MM contemporary story. Rob and Sam are the main characters. Rob is a disgraced rockstar and Sam has had tragedy of his own. Great story of love winning in the end! I’ll read more from this author.
Sweet romance with light angst.
Sam and Rob meet and become friends first then start dating.
Rob has secrets and trust issues and so does Sam.
Rob’s secrets come back to cause problems with Sam.
They had great chemistry and after some misunderstandings, which would have easily been resolved if Rob had just let go of his pride and confided in Sam, they get their HEA.
Copy received from author for an honest review
I never read this when it was first release, and I am pretty new to Nic Starr’s works, so it was nice to dive in fresh.
Sam is just too darn cute. I loved him from the minute he walked in to see his Aunt Polly. I just wanted to hug him and squeeze him and call him George.
I liked that Rob was going incognito, getting to know Sam, and Sam getting to know him as Rob, not as a public figure.
There is no much heat in this story, which I was expecting. I feel that this would be a good m/m book for the YA set.
There were lots of secondary characters (maybe a few too many and I was getting confuzzled) but there is great set up for the next book in the series.
Quick, enjoyable read, I look forward to the next book.
Sam lost both of his parents by aged 20. Just when he thought his life could not ever get better, not able to properly grieve in pops his aunt Poppy to give him the much needed love, friendship and grieving space. Such a loving figure in his life, she has an accident and ends up in the hospital for a few weeks. Taking on the responsibility of the family business he and his aunt shared, Sam is too mussy for a relationship, let alone love. Besides, he’s twenty-two. Plenty of time, right?
Rob, an employee at the hospital where Poppy is a patient. Tired and struggling himself, he notices Sam and thought how beautiful he was. He introduces himself to Sam and things sort of take off from there. Random hellos, a few exchanged glances, laughs, hospital lunch. The attraction is pretty much immediate between them, but neither say anything right away.
Things can only be “perfect” for so long. The secrets they keep from one another become hard on the new and already struggling relationship. It was imperative these two remain together for them to completely overcome. Half truths are better than whole lies, right? In hindsight, not always.
What a beautifully written story about two young men navigating their way through love, acceptance, and grasping the much needed HEA.
