Bailey Ruth Raeburn has always been great at solving mysteries. Why should a little thing like her death change anything? In fact, being dead gives her more of an opportunity to be on top of events. Bailey Ruth is delighted that her unique position as a ghost makes it possible for her to lend a helping hand, sometimes seen and sometimes not. And if anybody needs a little help, it’s Kathleen, the … the pastor’s wife. There’s a dead man on her porch, and once the body is discovered, the pastor is sure to become a suspect.
Uncharitable people might call it meddling, but Bailey Ruth knows Kathleen needs her help! As a member of Heaven’s Department of Good Intentions, Bailey Ruth goes back to earth to extricate Kathleen from a dire situation. If Bailey Ruth has to bend a few rules to help Kathleen save her family, Wiggins, her fussbudget supervisor, will make sure it all turns out right in the end.

This book was more interested in sharing the author’s personal religion than being a fun novel.
Terrific series, you wish it could be true! Delightful.
This was a fun book to read. I will continue reading the series.
It was an interesting read. I thought it was a little disjointed and jumped around a bit at the beginning.
It seems that Bailey Ruth spends more time tampering with evidence than she does actually helping. She feels what she is doing is right even when it doesn’t quite work out. Of course it is her first assignment and it is hard to do with your boss watching your every move and breathing down your back.
I tried, but I just could not “like” this character. I guess my dislike of the character was why it was hard for me to get interested in this story.
I hadn’t read anything by Carolyn Hart before and it had some good ratings, but it just wasn’t for me.
Great easy read.
I liked how this book started with Bailey Ruth Raeburn talking about how she is adjusting at being a ghost. Bailey has a supervisor, Wiggins that tells her the rules called precepts about being a ghost and she is suppose to help Kathleen, the pastor’s wife. Bailey has always been great at solving mysteries and breaks all the rules of being a ghost to solve a mystery.
Bailey Ruth is a member of Heaven’s Department of Good Intentions and bends a few rules to help Kathleen save her family. Ann Marie Lee narrated this audiobook and did a wonderful job.
Baily is sent to solve a small problem which she instantly makes worse, and has to dig herself out of a “situation”.
The book is truly amusing, moves quickly and is definitely a what happens next to a ghost with an assignment.
Bailey Ruth was at times a bit much. Her character was humorous, but not very ethical for an “angel”. All in all an entertaining read.
I loved the “ghost” that was in fact not a ghost, but an emissary of Heaven.
I thought the premise was original and the story line was entertaining. How can you not like Bailey Ruth? The mystery that carried the action was good too.
What a wonderful story with wonderful characters. Excellent writing.
Not great literature by a long shot but fun to read. A cozy mystery with a touch of the supernatural, it might be described as “Touched by an Angel meets Stephanie Plum.” I look forward to the further adventures of ghostly do-gooder/detective Bailey Ruth, as she struggles with her role as an apprentice emissary for the heavenly Department of Good Intentions.
Carolyn Hart never fails to deliver Even her lunch-counter food sounds good Good characters Easy romance Good whodoneit!
I enjoyed it enough to seek out others in the series and other book series by the author.
