Least of all being changed and controlled by the aliens in power.
With no guarantee of success, eliminations happening frequently, and the threat of potential allies becoming enemies, does Eileen have what it takes to survive? And when her heart gets involved, can she live with what she has to do to escape Purgatory?

When I started reading this I wasn’t sure what to expect. I sure didn’t expect cages and voices. The terrain Eileen was to navigate was foreign and she is given very little direction. On that first challenge she meets Clay, X and Y, and Kenny who was on the cage next to her joins as well. What ensues is an initiation of sorts, one where she believes she’s going to die.
These guys are all controlled by different voices, and her ‘Tim’ was a bit more helpful than theirs.
Eileen is snarky, efficient and sexy. The guys are handsome and protective even when they shouldn’t be.
An interesting, thrill packed tale with the beginnings of a reverse harem as Eileen finds she doesn’t want to be without any of them.
I can’t wait to read the next step in their journey!
I voluntarily offered to review this book with no obligations and my opinions are honest!
This was a great book !

This is the beginning of Eileen journey into the gates of Purgatory city.
Will she survive ?
Loved the characters + the storytelling !
It has all the ingredients that you need for a great book!
I can’t wait for the next book in this series.
This is not a book I would normally pick up and I struggled in the beginning to get into it but by the end I was hooked. There is a lot of mystery about what is exactly going on and by the end there is few answers and more questions. I’m interested to see where the authors take the series.
Talk about welcome to the Thunderdome! Eileen has been trying to survive on her own. Aliens invaded earth and now ruled everything. Humans either learned to survive outside, or they entered the mysterious gates of Purgatory. Most believed they’d end up working as indentured servants or something. They’d be WRONG. She’d done all she could on her own, and thankfully survived long enough not to sell her body. However she was just plain tired. Thus she ended up at the gates themselves willing to walk through just in hopes of seeing another day. What she didn’t know yet, but was about to learn… They were a false bill of goods. She quickly found herself in a cage pumped fill of liquid….next thing she knows there’s a strange man in a similar cage next to her spouting odd things about being in a game? Something had been done to her arm. What the heck was going on? Part Terminator, part Hunger Games, part Lord of the Flies….it’s survival of the fittest and sneakiest. Can she survive this? Is it even possible to make friends? Can they figure out what’s actually going on? Right now, survival at all costs save her soul is most important. She’ll certainly have to dig deep and use resources never before used. I for one am cheering her on!
This book is really unique, so different than any others I have read. I enjoyed it even though I was a tad confused overall. I am hoping my answers will come in the next installments and everything will click into place. I was hesitant to pick it up but I was curious and I have enjoyed other works by the authors so I dove in and was pleasantly surprised that I enjoyed it as much as I did. I stumbled a bit at the beginning but by the third chapter, I was hooked.
The story starts in an intriguing manner with anxious tension and excitement brimming from the pages. Eileen, the main character, is making a huge decision…a step into the unknown, but it cannot be any worse than where she was coming from, right?! Well, as you dive into the story, you find out if her choice was correct while having your eyes opened to a whole new world of confusion, danger, excitement, uneasy alliances, half-truths and secrets, life and death, and unimaginable monsters lurking in the darkness.
Eileen wakes to a new unforgiving world where everyone and everything is your enemy…maybe even the voice in your head, and any hesitation or compassion could mean imminent death. It is a kill or be killed world she fights to survive and she has to navigate it alone…or does she? She is thrust into an alien game where she and many others are chess pieces, pawns, in their twisted videogame-like reality where she has no idea what is going on, what the rules are (aside from staying alive), who to trust, or even how to survive. As she helps and gets help from four different men, whom she is unexplainably drawn to, and when her heart gets involved she realizes she is done being a pawn in someone else’s twisted game, she is going to take a stand, make her own rules and fight for herself and her men and only time, fortitude, a sway of allegiance, and newfound bonds will determine their fate in the end.
Purgatory City is full of suspense, action, danger, mystery, and romance in a post-apocalyptic setting similar to that of The Hunger Games or The Maze Runner. It is a gripping tale from start to finish with a reverse harem twist.
I received an arc thru Booksprout and I am voluntarily providing my honest review.
