I have previously read and left reviews for all of the books by Joyce Alec except Entangled with the Viscount and Bewildered Earl.
Entangled with the Viscount: I had not seen this book on Amazon an was glad to see it in this collection. It is a wonderful story of love, suspense and reckoning. Lady Ashton and Lord Johnsons characters are well described, quite believable and the story was a treat to read.
The Aristocrats Charade: Lady Ophelia, and Lord Peter Marchmont have just agreed to end a courtship, neither one unhappy about it when a series of events conspire to reverse their decision. A little mystery, suspense tossed with an growing attraction to each other make for light reading and enjoyment. This review along with all the other stories except Bewildered Earl from Joyce Alec have been posted on Amazon previously.

Promise of the Earl was a beauty and the beast remake. The Earl of Turner, Edward was selfish and cruel until a fire destroyed his good looks and forced him to change his ways. Dorothea Earnest was a bluestocking, beaten by her father and forced to do his bidding in his revenge against Edward. I liked Edward’s friend Stephen, Viscount Johnston and hope he gets his own romance. I didn’t like how Lord Gaines and Lady Lauder were tried and punished without the possibility of a trial based on their overheard confessions.
In An Earl’s Wager, Lord Hartley bet Lord Morton that he could steal a kiss from Lady Ellen by the end of the season. He didn’t consider what this would do to her reputation. It was only when she rejected his advances that he decided to pretend to reform to manipulate her into getting what he wanted so he could win the bet. But once he started to change he realized that he didn’t like the man he used to be. And when she finds out about the bet he has to work hard to earn her trust and forgiveness.
In Alice’s Arranged Marriage, she had no choice but to accept an arranged marriage with Charles, Lord Allerton after elite New York society didn’t accept her as the daughter of a newly wealthy man in trade lacking in social skills. Charles is only marrying her for money and he insults her repeatedly over her lack of refinement and wants to spend little time with her even though they will soon be wed. He does change his ways, but I didn’t like him for the self-centered snob he was. His family tries to drive them apart, which adds to the drama.
In the Aristocrat’s Charade,Ophelia was rude towards Viscount Marchmont when he tried to restart their courtship. Yes, he ended it and did not seem very happy about restarting it, which would have made me question why he would want to. But she still she shouldn’t have agreed that he was dull when he commented that he could be, agreed to dance with him and then avoided him, tried to force another lady on him, and other behavior that was not appropriate. When he is finally forced to reveal why he needed to court her again she gets caught up in solving the mystery and is much nicer. However, I liked her friend Miss Smallwood much better. She was kind and got her point across without being mean.
In The Viscount’s Heart, Miss Emily Smythe was a mousy wallflower that Viscount Arthur Wickton’s sister was friends with. She has had a crush on him for years, but he’s never really noticed her. Emily draws the attentions of Lord Davenport, a fickle rake who is only after her dowry and wants her because he feels she will be biddable enough to not question him continuing his rakish ways after marriage. Arthur realizes how dastardly he is and threatens to tell Emily, but before he can do so the driver of his hackney is shot in front of him and he is kidnapped. He has figure out how to escape, so he save Emily before it’s too late from Lord Davenport. Or maybe the wallflower will stand up to the bully and save him first?
This is a collection of Regency Romance set in London and Mail order Bride Romance set in the American West that will provide many hours of enjoyable reading for any Romance Lover. I received a free copy of this collection via Boodsprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Promise of the Earl
I really liked Edward and Dorthea’s story. It is filled with tragedy, suspense and romance. This is an entertaining story about 2 damaged people who find healing and love with a happy ending.
Alice’s Arranged Marriage
This is a lovely Regency story which put me in the Christmas Spirit and left me with a good feeling. Once again Rose Pearson has written another fabulous well written Regency Romance. Lady Georgiana and Mr Oliver Lowell make a fascinating couple.
The Aristocrat’s Chrade
Lord Peter Marchamont is courting Miss Ophelia Gray, but he feels this courtship is not going in the direction he would like so he decides to end it. The feeling was mutual and Olivia is relieved by his decision. A few days later Peter receives a threatening note stating he must court Ophelia or his brother Edward will be ruined. Peter returns to resume his courtship of Ophelia and together they work to protect Edward so that their courtship can end. As they work together this results in the development of mutual respect and affection. This is another well written book by Joyce Alec filled with intrigue and mystery.
The Viscount’s Heart
Emily Smythe was a wallflower who had a crush on Viscount Arthur Wickton for years, but he hardly noticed her until a fickle rake Lord Davenport took an interest in her. When Arthur tries to warn Emily about Lord Davenport he is kidnapped. Will he escape or will Emily find courage and rescue him? Another beautiful story by Joyce Alec.

On her trip there Etta was given a package containing a precious broach by a stranger with the instructions to keep it safe until she returns for it. Reuben helps Etta find refuge in a strange town.
