I went from being an ordinary, underachieving college student to a television personality.
It was a smooth transition.

Money, fame and popularity—great stuff to have, except when it’s all you’ve got.
A part of me died when I was thirteen.
I’ve been trapped in a tunnel without a light ever since.
Although I put on a smile and sang songs about love, dark lyrics consumed my mind.
There was no way I could open up to anyone.
Until I met the girl who changed everything.
The It Girl Wears an XL is a boy band romance featuring a sassy, curvy fangirl turned heroine and a tortured, bad boy hero with a heart of gold. Contains foul language and steamy scenes. No cheating and a happy ending with loose ends.more
Cute story as a whole, but there were several things that I couldn’t get past to make this as enjoyable as it could have been. The characters were hard to connect with. They were supposed to be 21/22 years old, but sometimes they came off as much younger, which in turn, made the sex scenes feel inauthentic, because I kept referencing them to be teens. They each had their own demons they were fighting but it was hard to really feel the draw to them. I also had some issues with Bea (the heroine) and her supposed best friend. Her friend was almost always negative and in a passive aggressive way, constantly telling her to lose weight. I didn’t understand with all the things she said to Bea, why Bea still considered her her best friend. The friend was always trying to lose weight, even though she was tiny, meanwhile Bea, being of a larger size, began to become famous despite her weight. So, if she could do that, why was the friend making such a big deal about losing weight? She didn’t need to lose weight to make her mark in the world. This book was set in Seoul, Korea, and I don’t know if the author is from there, but maybe there was something lost in translation among the pages. There were a few incidents that took place that were unanswered or left without resolve that I originally questioned, but then I see that there is a book two coming out. It doesn’t end in a cliffhanger… just left with those questions. There is a small amount of sexual content, which in my opinion, could have been left out and would have made this book perfect for teens coming of age. (Those scenes felt like they were thrown in just to add some heat.) I hate to be all negative (feeling like one of the trolls that Bea has to deal with,) but I just had a hard time reading this one. I did like the plot line and could tell what the author was trying to achieve throughout, it just needed a little more work in the execution.
How can a XL girl fit into the modern world made only for SX girl? Bea is brilliant, funny and an XL girl. Can she find happiness and love with a gorgeous bad boy band in this cruel world of fame? A great story about real love and real people. I received a free copy of this book and I voluntarily reviewd it.
Slow to start. I got to over 27% into the book and I still couldn’t find any dialogue or description of the story which would have indicated to me any relevance with respect to the ”upcoming” storyline. It may have improved later but for me, an introduction must lead to the story in an organic manner, so the reader wants to carry on reading. Both of the main characters, Bea and Taek had been described well enough to be likable. However, I am afraid, this book wasn’t enough of a page-turner for me.
