Our story is far from perfect, but there’s not one risk I regret taking to get the girl. Not the judgment. Not the whispers. Not the stares. Because age is just a number, and we survived. Ollie and Charlie against the world. Except now … there’s Milo.
I don’t usually give over 3 stars to a novella but this one, just pulled on my heart strings.
This novella follows Charlie & Oliver in the years to come after their story in The Truth About Tomorrow.
You read about Charlie & Oliver becoming parents, and the difficulties they face together when one of their children is born with a disability. The only con I had was it so mentioned Charlie went through post natal depression but didn’t go into that. I would liked to have read how Ollie handled that.
But all in all, this novella just proves that their love is strong and true, and nothing can get inbetween them.
4 Stars.
Celeste never ceases to amaze me! She is such a fantastic author! She reaches you on such a deep, emotional level… you’ll never look at the word the same again! I more than loved this book! It’s a novel of Ollie, Charlie, and sweet Milo! It will rip your heart out and have you crying at 2 am! There has never been an author that can open your eyes the way that Celeste does. I love her! She gives you a one of a kind story that you will never forget and the path to get there is unforgettable. Angst, Love, Hope, Terror, I have felt it all so raw and real for these characters. So many people in our world go through so many unimaginable things and the bottom line is you really just never know. Everyone has a story to tell and you just don’t know what they have gone through or what they’re dealing with. Celeste makes you count your blessings and reflect on everything you are grateful for. Not everyone is lucky, somethings are out of your hands and there is nothing that could have changed the hand you were dealt. The unknown is such a vast scary place to find yourself. That feeling that Charlie experiences really steals the breath from your lungs. I loved this read, it melted my heart and I can’t wait to read Into the Clear Water!
“Today. Tomorrow. Always.”
I love that Ollie and Charlie get their happy ever after. They both deserve it. I also love that Charlie wasn’t automatically healed. Because she got married and had a baby her life was suddenly what she wanted, it didn’t erase her past. Her issues may have been getting better but they were still there. That’s how life works, your demons don’t disappear just because you’re happy. They still come out, maybe not as often, maybe not as intense all the time but they are there.
I think I love Ollie even more after TTAU. He is everything he needed to be for Charlie and it just made my heart happy. He took all of Charlie’s broken pieces and loved and cherished them. He made her feel loved and secure, which is exactly what she needed.
Charlie will always be the girl with demons, but she’s also this string, fierce woman who doesn’t give up. It would have been easier for her to fall apart time and time again, but she didn’t. She fought her way through each and every obstacle and has come out onto. And because of Charlie’s past she is an amazing, caring mother.
Charlie’s pain over having her choices taken away when she was younger made their decision about Milo’s hearing harder for her. My heart hurt for her, and her struggle. I understand her struggle even if it seems crazy, It didn’t matter if the decision is for the better, it’s still a choice she’s taking away from him.
And then there’s Milo at 7. I need him to have a story. He’s going to be something amazing when he gets older.
The Truth about Us is a phenomenal conclusion to Ollie and Charlie’s story. B. Celeste managed to jam pack this novella with all the feels. TTAU is another 5 star read.

We’re the captains of our own souls
So there’s no need for us to hesitate
We’re all alone, let’s take control.”

What’s this book about? (I’m trying to give as little spoilers as possible)
Charlie and Ollie found their happiness despite what other people might have thought of them. And now there’s a new addition to the equation, Milo.
This is my second B. Celeste read after reading The Truth About Tomorrow.
This is Charlie and Ollie’s tomorrow and I couldn’t have been happier to read it. If I’m being honest, I expected Milo’s age to be different, but in the end, I adjusted and I loved in anyway. I was thirsty for more Charlie and Ollie. In this story, I was served exactly the feels I needed, maybe even more. This novella was a quick, fun and very emotional read. I finished it in two hours or so, quite the page-turner.
I’m pretty sure if I read The Truth About Heartbreak, I’d be in my feelings even more concerning the bromance between Ollie and Rhett. Since I read Tomorrow yesterday, Ollie and Charlie’s development and their relationship with Milo was of highest importance to me. Charlie as a momma bear was EVERYTHING. Mental issues played a big role once again and I LOVED how it was all handled once again. This author 100% knows what she’s doing if she’s making me root for these two former star-crossed (AGE WHO?) lovers LOL. We didn’t get anything too kinky here (AFTER A PROMISING BEND-OVER IN THE END OF ‘TOMORROW’) and that might be my only issue, however, I’m willing to turn a blind eye since the leads had bigger issues than their horniness in this story.
I was glad to see both leads and how they were doing. I liked how we got to see how these two were behaving AFTER they got what they wanted, including how everyone else behaved around them and their strange union.
I recommend this lovely read to anyone who enjoyed the previous instalments of this series, love an age gap and appreciate a cute new-parent couple that has to endure heart-breaking new-parent struggles.
