As a Commander in the Terran space program, I never expected to wake up from cryosleep in a cage. When I’m rescued by a fierce Mosauran warrior, I am both grateful and wary. Soran is a Prince of the Empire, and his species is one of the most feared in the galaxy. But the more time we spend together, the more I find myself drawn to him in ways I don’t understand. Especially since he’s working to … working to keep me out of the hands of the A’kai master he rescued me from. The master who believes his species survival depends upon a cure found only in Terran blood. He will stop at nothing to recapture me in the hopes that he can use me to find my home world. I have to find Terra before the A’kai do—the fate of my people hangs in the balance.

After being pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed Ms. Grayson’s first novel, Lost in the Deep End, I read The Edge of it All. Once again I was pleased to find that stepping outside of my usual genre did not disappoint. The main character, Liana, was lovable from the start. Her courage and faithfulness only serve to further endear her to the reader. So many other unique characters in this story benefit from the brilliant descriptions Ms. Grayson provides that I am inclined to want to see them on the big screen – or at the very least learn more about them in subsequent novels. Other characters are not so lovable, but they and their actions are so well described that my repulsion was manifested as a physical sensation of nausea. I am looking forward to seeing where the characters in this story go from here.
Fantastic read, New Series, and excellent length by Miss Grayson again. Five Star.
The Edge of it All, by Miss Grayson, is one of my favorite new series. This new series starter book does not disappoint one bit.
Liana is a human that wakes up to a nightmare in captivity. The last thing she remembers is going into stasis for the long journey home from the Mars colony. Not knowing what is going on, she finds herself in trouble and abused more than most. Her family has always had determined woman that knows what they want and can stand on their own. With the mantra from her dad’s in her head, it gets her through the toughest of times. During her ordeal to the lowest of heartbreak, she stands the test of time, abuse, and loneliness until she meets Tr’Lani, a fellow slave, she finds herself fiercely protective of her and can only think of an escape for them both. Only time, knowledge, and an opportunity remain for this to happen.
Soran, a liberated slave thanks to his brother Rowan, both are Mosauan warrior and the great house of Mosaura, and by the way, makes them both princes, for their mother, is the Empress of their home planet. They have come to Vylas Station to refuel to make the journey to the homeworld. With V’loryns and Mosuauan both detest slavery, they can agree on this as a common goal, but distrust of each other makes it hard to form a real alliance any time soon. You see, the Mosauan’s believe the V’lorynas are deceitful and duplicitous people, and the V’lryans look at the Mosauan’s like a closed-minded anti-alien society that intend to keep other races from contaminating their gene pool.
When Soran and Rowan enter an eating establishment, Soran jaw drops when he sees two female slaves (an Anguis), one is an Aerilon(Liana), and the other is L’loryn(Tr’Lani). How foolish is the Anguis Master parading them in front of all the patrons? Both are severely abused and injured that is obvious and make Soran’s blood boil and notices the Aerilon is not the typical body image he accustomed to seeing. A’Kai approaches the slave master Rowan knows, Talel, an opponent the left him scarred from his time in slavery. He intends to purchase both slaves and do as he wishes with them even if they don’t survive his kind of pleasure.
Read as Liana, Soran, Rowan, Tr’lani worlds collide in this fantastic read, discovery, mystery, love, and sacrifices they all are willing to do in this excellent first book in the series by Miss Grayson. It is well written and thought out. This book also brings in the previously written V’loryn’s series and I look forward when both books series and worlds can collide.
*WARNING* story contains explicit sexual content
I really liked the similarities between the alien, Soran a big strong Mosauran Warrior, and a dragon shifter. Many of these aliens in this story resemble what we might think of as a paranormal creature, which to me, gives the impression that aliens have visited our planet and given humans these impressions. There was a fair amount of world building here giving a beautiful picture of different places in space and NOT so beautiful. There is a lot of story here, so it’s easy to get to know and connect with these characters. There are sex scenes but they aren’t NUMEROUS and they aren’t brutal. I think this book was well written. It was well edited and I’d recommend it.
