‘Wow, just wow!!!!!… So amazing and beautifully written… I loved it so much… An emotional rollercoaster that I never wanted to get off from… pulling your emotional heartstrings at every turn.’ Blue Moon Blogger, 5 starsI will not think about it anymore. I won’t think about her. My lost little sister with her beautiful smile, her chestnut-coloured eyes. My sister who I couldn’t protect. If … couldn’t protect.
If you passed Alice on the street, you couldn’t help but smile. At how she holds hands with her husband, Jack, who she has been with since she was at university. At the way she admires her three boys, the centre of her universe.
But if you looked very closely, you’d see how tightly she holds Jack’s hand, afraid to let go. You’d see how carefully she watches her boys, scared to look away. You’d see her smile fading in a matter of seconds, and the pain she hides behind her eyes.
She has told Jack that she ran away from home when she was younger – but she didn’t tell him the whole story. Her husband doesn’t know about the guilt she bears about her little sister she failed to save.
Now, after a lifetime of fresh starts, Alice can feel her past playing catch-up. She is sure she is being watched, certain she is being followed. She may not be able to stop her secret coming out – but can she stop the world she has lovingly built collapsing in on her?
This utterly heartbreaking, beautifully written and gripping family drama examines just how far we are willing to go for our loved ones, and the desperate decisions we make when we have no other choice. Fans of Jodi Picoult, Kerry Fisher and Liane Moriarty will be blown away by this incredibly moving tale.

The themes of domestic and child abuse will undoubtedly trigger some readers but push through, and you’ll find a stunning, unflinching look at how resilience and love can overcome even the direst of situations. The author does a fantastic job of capturing a wide range of thoughts and feelings as long-hidden family secrets come to light. The characters were well-developed and the plot, although difficult to read at times, was tight and thought-provoking. I certainly recommend this book. First, I want to thank Nicole Trope, Bookouture and NetGalley for providing me with this book so I may bring you this review.
Must Read Book of 2020! Nicole Trope’s Nowhere Girl covered some tough subjects like no other author has before! She makes it into an incredible storyline with so many twists and turns and some very shocking moments.
Nowhere Girl drew me into the story right from the first sentence of the story. How could you not fall for little Molly!
I loved this book for the suspenseful mystery and the very unique storyline. However, this book may not be everyone’s cup of tea for the subject matter.
Nicole mentions in the book and I agree with her that authors put out the same themes to books many times. Especially when it comes to writing about woman. Many ideas and issues in books revolve around domestic violence and child abuse. Why? Because society has not gotten it right yet.
She is incredibly passionate about this issue and it comes out in the characters and their behaviors. Some scenes I wondered how she stomached as they were a little graphic.
This book went from present day and the past to give you the back story.
I loved how Nicole thanked her mother, Hilary, for being her first reader and for reading her books with a fresh eye.
Someone Help
This book is emotion filled. Alice was happy with her mother and father, but when she was six her father died. Her mother could not cope with the loss, she could not cope with life. After she married Alice’s stepfather than things got worse.
The beatings started, and her mother became enslaved to alcohol. The her little sister was born and she loved her. Her stepfather became meaner and then he did unspeakable things to Alice. One day Alice took her sister out to the highway and hid while a car stopped and a lady in a shiny red car picked her up. Her sister was two years old.
Alice watched television that night and saw a wreck in a shiny red car and thought her sister was dead in the wreck. Her stepfather beat her mother and her but she never told what happened to her sister.
The story told in the book is about Alice, her relationship with her mother, her marriage and children. She tells her husband about being abused, but say nothing about her sister except that she died in a car wreck.
The story is separately about the sister now called Molly that was adopted but the foster family that took her in when she was found. She did not know she was adopted until she was married and read a blog on the computer that Alice wrote.
The story is about the mother Margaret. How she couldn’t cope. Her struggle with alcohol. Her grief at the loss of her husband Adam and her abusive relationship with Vernon,
It is mostly about feelings, about pain and hurt, about love and hate. It is about marriage, trust, heartbreak and hope. It will make you cry and fill you with hope.
This book covers the topic of child abuse and does it in a sensitive way dealing more with feelings than actual detail. It was an interesting read about a subject which needs to be addressed in society.
Thanks to Nicole Trope, Bookouture, and NetGalley for allowing me to read an advanced copy of the book.
