The police assigned me protection. And it looks like I might need it.Working as a necromancer in the police force isn’t easy. People don’t like our type of magic so much.People prefer us dead. Unfortunate for them, what we do is useful. So I’ve been assigned protection. They’ve given me a panther shifter bodyguard. He’s very good at his job, it seems. And I like the way he calls me “Miss Grieves.” I … I like the way he calls me “Miss Grieves.” I like the way he pays attention to me.
I have a boyfriend, though.
For now.
Author’s Note: This is a stand alone steamy romance with an HEA intended for 18+

This sequel can possibly be read as a standalone though reading the previous book will give you more context for the story. In this book we get a look through Rosen’s eyes, who we were briefly introduced to in Talia’s Bodyguard. The book starts off not too far off from the previous one and has its own unique story while including the overall world tone set in the first book. An opportunity to take a peek at cold case with three hundred year old bones is something Rosen can’t turn down even if it sets off a time bomb on her personal life. I was glad to see the bodyguard Albert had his own backstory that was not a cookie cutter version of the previous bodyguard. This book really shows the hatred in the world Lisa Daniels created for the necromancers and drives home the corruption as well as bigotry of a lot of the humans. I can’t wait for the next one, though I wish we got some interaction between the sisters and their bodyguard in this as well as a clue who the next girl will be.

Rosen was assigned a bodyguard by her father when a rash of murders hinders investigations. As a child, Albert had an experience which makes his job almost a calling. Rosen’s current relationship is imploding before her eyes. Her main source of support seems to be Albert, but neither wants to act unprofessionally. Rosen’s Bodyguard is a suspenseful novel that I enjoyed.
