This story was first published as December in the Calendar Gals series and I was lucky to read it then. I loved reading it again.
They suffered a terrible loss when Branson’s brother, Kody, who is also Kasey’s fiance, dies. In order to get through their pain, they rely on each other, and when Kasey finds out she’s pregnant, she leans on Branson for emotional support.
Branson’s always had a crush on Kasey, and Kasey’s always thought Branson was special. But when Branson is there for her after Kody dies, her feelings start to change from friendship, to lust, to love.
I can’t wait to read The Unexpected Package.
I received an advance copy of this book. I am voluntarily giving my honest review, and I plan to buy this book when it becomes available.
DL Gallie stoke my heart with her previous books. This book just upped my love for her and her writing. She has such a way with words and situations that make it all work together and leave you reeling with feelings you didn’t expect.
The characters are broken due to circumstances and together they get put back together, piece by piece. Trust and redemption work together for good in this book. It definitely leaves you happy and in awe of the words on these pages.
The book does go back and forth between past and present, but is done to show you how far they’ve come. It is beneficial to the story and provides more details and insight.
The Unexpected Letter is a quick read but is overflowing with emotion and inspiration. As Kasey and Brandon experience a tragedy that binds them in support and friendship, an unsuspecting feeling starts to arise. As confusion sets in for both parties along with guilt, it might just take a surprise message to show them that the heart wants what it wants. This story gives you a bit of everything from devastation, acceptance, reflection, love, passion, romance, with just the right amount of naughty and nice.
Ohhhh DL Gallie is back with another short and steamy read to get me in the mood for some holiday cheer. The opening of The Unexpected Letter got to me and I was beyond anxious to see what was in store for Kasey.
My heart went out to Kasey. Torn between loss and hope. Struggling to balance hormones and emotions. Falling for her best friend…that touch of the forbidden between her and Branson is what made this book work.
There was a lot of back and forth. Feelings of guilt warred with wanting to move forward for both of them. I liked that everyone in their circle was so accepting of the tricky situation. While I did find a few spots where the language was a bit repetitive, it didn’t take away from the heartfelt love between Kasey and Branson. And that ending…sweetness city!
This book is the story of Kase and Brennan, and Kody. It’s complicated and heartbreaking, and also beautiful at the same time. They are a lovely family who are very close, them tragedy strikes and things have to change. There is guilt and lots of feelings, then lust and sexy times between them until in the end they find their HEA.
I really liked this story, it was like a mini rollercoaster and an adventure that has a happy ending despite what life throws at them.
This book starts out heart-wrenching and ends up heartwarming. Kasey and Branson’s story is an unusual journey to HEA. When fate throws Kasey’s life into turmoil, her dead fiancé’s brother, Branson steps in and takes care of her and the baby she’s carrying. Certain that pregnancy hormones are the cause of her attraction to Branson, Kasey tries to ignore her feelings. However, Branson is feeling the same. The emotions and turmoil of the situation is handled well by Ms. Gallie. Luckily, they both have friends they can lean on; especially when Kasey goes through the salsa and snap pea cravings and the crying jags.
While circumstances are unusual for the couple, that doesn’t make the emotions any less real. The journey to that discovery is intense, heartfelt, and a bonus. Ms. Gallie’s characters are fun, realistic, and their banter is sexy and amusing. I can’t wait for the rest of the friends to find their happily ever afters. I enjoy everything I read from Ms. Gallie and this holiday story is a great way to start the holiday season.
Kasey and Kody were such a special couple, my heart honestly just about broke in two reading the first couple of chapters.
Branson and Kasey struggle with their emotions and rightly so, given the situation it would be horrendous to try to sort through these new feelings and possibilities. Plus the possible social scandal, I felt for them. Having actually known of a similar situation, it certainly does sort out who your true friends and supportive family members are very quickly.
There are some sensitive issues in this story, they are handled well though and to balance these is the terrific sense of humour. Some wonderful expressions and fun banter between the characters leave you chuckling out loud.
The story is told in the present but also with flashbacks to the past, to fill in background details so readers fully understand the dynamic of the characters and their relationship. It’s a fast paced short story that leaves you feeling great.
It was raw emotional from the first chapter the heartache the lost, the fear on what was to happen. Scared and feeling overwhelmed Kasey turns to the only person who has always been there Branson. This was a very emotional read with plenty of heartache and love and support.
Kasey learns that everything that has happened around her has happened for a reason. Surrounded by such strength and love gives her the strength to survive and fight for what was meant to be. A beautifully written love story that will live on forever.
This emotional quick read is about Kasey and Branson and a tragic event that changes the course of their lives, will they be able to move forward and forget about the guilt that they hold to let true love in. This book had me with mixed emotions from the start and I am sure you will feel the same. One click you won’t be disappointed.
