Knocked Up by Prince Charming: An Accidental Pregnancy Romance (Knocked Up Royals Book 1) by Lilian Monroe
Elle has had to work harder than most to achieve her goals since she grew up on the wrong side of town. Growing up in foster care didn’t help matters either but she has never let it stop her from accomplishing her goals.
Charlie, Crown Prince of Farcliff has had everything served to him literally on a silver platter. Woman throw themselves at his feet to just be near him and men want to be him. They don’t care that there is more to him than his crown.
Elle has never felt like she fit in and the rowing team at Farcliff University is no different. All the girls are golden and beautiful where she is too tall and plain. Winning the Spring Regatta would pay for the rest of her college tuition and set her up, so she finally wouldn’t have to worry about money for a while. When she is given the opportunity to go to a royal ball so that it could make her feel better about herself, she takes it. Charlie doesn’t want to be King and hates the fact that he doesn’t have a choice in the matter. He just wants to be normal and blend in like everyone else but with his reputation of a womanizer, it’s hard to prove to people that he has more to offer. When he sees Elle for the first time, he wants her and for more than one night. The next few weeks are filled with rowing practice for her and nights of pleasure for them both. Elle and Charlie went into the relationship knowing that it could never go anywhere but it didn’t take the sting out of reality when things go wrong. Charlie will be King and with that come responsibilities. He must marry someone suitable and that isn’t Elle. Elle knows she must let him go but she didn’t know it would be so hard.
Once again Lilian Monroe tears your heart out emotionally and then sews it back up all neat and tidy to shove it back inside. She always scares me into thinking it’s over but then she waves her hand and it all falls into place. It is hard to read through tears! Elle has always felt like she never measured up because of being an orphan. The moment she meets Charlie she feels beautiful and like she matters. He is being completely honest with her and she felt as if he was feeding her lines at first. She never felt like their relationship would make it because she wasn’t good enough for him. He thinks that she keeps him calm and even. She makes him a better man and she treats him as if he is just a regular guy and in her eyes he is. She doesn’t expect anything from him and that is refreshing to him. It was new territory to him, and he wasn’t prepared for it. They give each other the strength to be themselves and with they are able to rule their kingdom.

The heroine: Elle – she never knew her parents, grew up as a foster kid in Grimdale, the poor part of the kingdom. She was able to get a rowing scholarship to the university and trains daily for the royal regatta. She is bullied by the other students and her team members who are from the wealthy part of the kingdom.
The Hero(s): Charlie – the Crown Prince of Farcliff. A little kingdom near the great lakes, between the United States and Canada. His mother died when he was young and his father hates him and thinks him responsible for his mothers death. His father is pushing him to select a proper wife from the elite members of society in order to take his place as king.
The Story: The story is a loosely based cinderella retelling. Ella is not an acceptable match for the prince and isn’t invited to the ball. Though her roommate is invited and plays fairy godmother in giving Elle her ticket, providing a dress, a makeover and more. Elle goes to the ball, meets the prince and runs away at midnight without her white shoes.
Prince Charlie can’t forget the woman from the ball and does what he can to find Elle. Though when he does it isn’t exactly happily ever after. Since Charlie’s father is a difficult man and seems to have some sort of evil plan that somehow involves making sure Charlie is married to one of the acceptable girls in the kingdom, but it also involves plans for a damn project that Charlie’s mother fought against when she was alive.
When Elle finds out she is pregnant, she knows things are not going to work out. She is not one of the girls that is acceptable as a future queen and Charlie has taken every precaution to make sure he never got a girl pregnant so will not be happy with the news.
The narration was done by Roxelana Waters and Nick J. Russo. They did a good job. I thing Roxelena sounded a bit old for a college age girl, but other than that, she did fine. I liked the narration by Nick J. Russo and especially like the fact that it was dual narration. More and more, I am not purchasing romance audiobooks unless they have dual narration.
This was a wonderful retelling of Cinderella with some twists. It is book one of a series and can be read as a stand alone. It is written in first person from an alternating dual POV.
I liked Elle a lot. She is a college girl with a tough past and a drive to make a better life. I love her commitment to her sport, and her training to succeed against the odds. Charlie is a wild prince who is a player. When they meet, there is an instant connection. They are very hot together. I love the friendship and trust they form with each other. When they get an unexpected surprise, things get complicated with kingdom politics.
I think the characters were well written and their emotions were easily felt by this reader. I especially love Elle’s friend dahlia, who becomes a lead character in book 2. There are evil forces at work to keep them apart and I love that they are able to overcome them in the end. Their HEA is sweet and sexy and would definitely make the news if it were real. It was a very enjoyable read and I look forward to reading more books in the series.

A fun, modern take on Cinderella … with spice.
I’ve read & watched my share of Cinderella retellings but this one manages to be different from them all. It’d likely be impossible to list all that this read packs into it but get some down for you!
Royalty (some of which is reluctant!).
Bullies / mean girls.
College life / academy feel. Takes place on campus.
Down-to-earth, hard-working heroine.
Down-to-earth prince/hero.
Family drama / father-villain.
Sports / athletes (heroine included!).
Fairy-tale style love at first sight, even if the MCs don’t realize it right away.
Will read on in this series, very cute, fun, lighthearted read.
4 stars.
Note:
Loved this performance, perfect narrators! 5-star performance.
This book has great character chemistry and was easy to read and follow along.
It’s a different take on Cinderella without actually feeling like a rewrite or Cinderella- does that make sense?.
The main characters name is Elle ( never is she referenced to Cinderella) she does fall in love with a prince- there’s no evil step mother or sister- the King is evil instead of being happy the prince chose Elle. There’s some mystery thrown in, there is a ball- no trying on of the shoe throughout the kingdom( although an ad is made up but he finds Elle before anything goes farther with the ad)
Happy reading
MODERN DAY SEXY CINDERELLA
I loved it! It really is like a modern day Cinderella but with way more mystery, suspense and lots and lots of set your crotch on fire smokin hot sex. Elle is strong but vulnerable and she’s determined to make something of herself. Never knowing her real parents and growing up in foster care made her a stronger person, she knows what she capable of and what she wants and that’s to be loved. Her adoptive parents Tina and Frank are both special people who love her and she loves them but something has still always been missing and the fact that she comes from the poor part of the Kingdom she goes to a rich college on a rowing scholarship and for three years she’s tormented and until she meets Prince Charlie she’s never felt beautiful or as loved as he makes her feel. Elle’s roommate Dahlia is unusual but she’s fun and outgoing and she’s kind of a free spirit. I loved her character. She’s happy go lucky and she’s a very trustworthy friend and she is values her friendship to Elle. Charlie and Elle feel this strong overwhelming attraction to each other and their chemistry is off the charts smokin hot. Neither of them can deny the explosive feeling they have for one another. This book pulled at my heartstrings alittle because no matter how much they felt for each other or how much they loved each other there were always unspoken forces in the background that would never let them be together and Elle always down to earth knew it. I really enjoyed this book. At time the excitement was suspenseful and at times I laughed and times I cried. I recommend this book to everyone it romantic and erotic and is just a feel good story.
I enjoyed this book. There weren’t very many surprises in it but I did choose it as a palate cleanser so I wasn’t expecting to be blown away. Though I wasn’t blown away I did read it in one day so I didn’t want to put it down. If you are looking for a good quick read that has a sexy brooding prince and a woman who never wanted to be a princess this is the book for you.
This book is funny, and sweet and all the things a good romance book should be. I really enjoyed it!
Quick read, love at first sight, surprise baby and a HEA. Bits here and there feel like you’re reading a revamped Cinderella with a twist.
A super good Cinderella story. Elle is a hardworking, and wonderful person who gets to meet her bad boy prince. Sweet, fun and short. A superb read!
I love the story between Elle and Charlie (Your Highness, I mean). They strike it HOT from the get go and I was curious if their connection would be primarily physical or develop further. I mean, the man makes GUAC so of course I was rooting for him. I love how Elle doesn’t let the Caddy Mean Girls crush her spirit and in the end you will see who gets the last laugh. Love the undercurrent of Charlie’s Mom and how she made herself known even in her death. I want to know more about her and the scandal that seems to be suggested about her death. Spoiler Alert – so glad that Charlie sees through his Dad’s devilish ways and although at times it seems like the HEA will never come, it finally does and in a most spectacular way. Loved this book and cant wait to read about Charlie’s brothers and what becomes of them. Lilian Monroe you always leave me feeling over the moon in love with love and Happily Ever Afters.
Lilian Monroe is a new to me author and is quickly earning a place in my book loving heart. Bad Prince is my second book by this author and boy oh boy what a great little read this book is.
Charles is a Prince – literally. The eldest son, next in line to the thrown, playboy, party hard, sexy as sin royal. Known for his love ‘em and leave ‘em attitude he has no intention of settling down, ever. All that changes the moment he lays eyes on Elle.
Elle is everything that a typical, vapid, title seeking woman is not. She grew up in the foster care system, was adopted in her late teens, is in university on scholarship and lives and breathes for her sport – rowing. She is an unconventional beauty – tall, built, big busted, with short pixie hair.
Fireworks go off the moment these two polar opposites meet, unable to resist the pull between them they give into it hot and fast. Things take off between them but both know deep down that their relationship can never work because of who they are.
Forces work to tear them apart, but in this modern day Cinderella like fairytale, the Prince eventually overcomes the obstacles keeping them apart (with a little help from his fairy (god)mother) and the prince and his unconventional princess get their happily ever after. TBR and Enjoy!
Great adaptation of Cinderella that kept me up until the early hours because I couldn’t stop reading. I headed straight to KU and downloaded the next book as soon as I’d finished this one
This is book one in the Knocked Up by Royals Series and seems to be a modern twist on a Cinderella story. I really enjoyed this book and am looking forward to the next book in the series. I’m assuming it’ll be about one of Charlie’s two younger brothers. I liked the characters, especially Dahlia. I definitely want to read her story. Overall a really good book. I laughed, smiled, gritted my teeth in anger and even cried a little so it was a successful good read for me.
Elle is a scholarship student attending at the Farcliff University. She’s on the row crew, is an orphan and her adoptive parents live in the neighboring city. Charlie is the Prince of Farcliff. He’s a charming womanizer and doesn’t want a wife. He’s oldest and in line to take the throne.
Elle and Charlie first kind of sort of meet when Elle is out on the water and Charlie is running on land. They race each other and Elle wins. They keep this up even after they finally meet not knowing that they’re actually racing each other. They meet for real at the Prince’s 25th birthday ball. Elle goes for a friend and this is where they meet. Charlie is intrigued and pursues a secret relationship with her. Of course, secret relationships always go south eventually and when theirs does Charlie and Elle need to find a way to be together even though the odds are stacked against them.
I received this book in exchange for my honest review.
Charlie seems like he has it all. The future king of Farcliff he has the looks, title, women and privilege. But despite appearances he just want to be a normal guy.
Ellie is the total opposite. An orphan who has had to scrape and work for everything that she has gotten which includes a spot on the rowing team for Farcliff University.
She meets Charlie and they embark on a no strings attached relationship as they know he is going to have to marry like a king.
Except those strings have wrapped around their hearts and intertwined themselves in such an emotional and wonderful read.
Get the tissues and clear your schedule as you will enjoy every page. Ellie and Charlie are very endearing characters and bring out the best in each other.
A beautiful well written emotional romantic romance story. This I voluntarily intriguing storyline had me addicted page after page. It included insecurities, obligations, drama, bullying, secret encounters, and amazing chemistry. A wonderful cast of characters that are well developed, charming, relatable, and interesting as they maneuver highs and lows to a great HEA. I voluntarily read and reviewed this incredible ARC.
