This is a clean cozy mystery that I am sure you will enjoy. Sabrina remembers when the little town she lives in was totally safe. She never realized that there was a dark underside until there was a murder–of a drug dealer! She decides that she has to get to the bottom of it. Of course she runs into trouble–will she be able to come out on top? You will have to read this book to find out!
So this is how her mother felt all those years.
Treasure Cove has been a dangerous place for a long time now but it has never felt so dangerous as it does now that Jessica, Sabrina’s daughter, has joined the police force and is putting herself in danger. When the body of a drug kingpin is discovered, Sabrina wants Jessica as far from the investigation as possible but that is not going to happen. The only way to protect her daughter is to solve the case herself as quickly as possible,
Wow! I can’t believe that I have read so many books in this series! Sabrina and David have gone from dating to being married and then to being parents, and now their daughter is grown and a police officer, and I still love this series!
Pie, Peril & a Peculiar Murder earns 4.5/5 Slices of Pie…Entertaining Fun!
“Pie, Peril & a Peculiar Murder” is the twenty-sixth delightful drama from Meredith Potts’s Treasure Cove Cozy Mystery series, and Sabrina Carlson is surrounded by law enforcement. In between helping out at the family Daley Buzz coffee shop, she has a reputation of being an amateur sleuth, but she’s married to a detective and her nineteen-year-old daughter is new to the force. However, Sabrina is unhappy to learn that her daughter volunteered to go undercover in the attempt to bust Paulie, a local drug dealer. He’s the small fish and hopes are he’ll roll over on Eric Hobart, the bigger fish. He realizes he’s going to jail, and stands firm it’s not going to be as a snitch. Oh, what a difference night in jail can make! Paulie changes his mind and gives up valuable information sending the strike team off to arrest the Hobart. Unfortunately, Hobart is found dead and clues are at a minimum. Did the King Pin have a boss? Does this go deeper into the community? Is there any honor among criminals? Voice artist Lili Dubuque went beyond the traditional read aloud portraying Sabrina Carlson in a first-person narrative. It was enjoyable as she uses tone and dialect to portray the personalities and emotions of the various characters. She even made an adequate attempt at male voices. The drama was engaging, a short 2-1/2 hours of entertainment, but the story has a lot of someone “said,” someone “asked,” or some “replied;” I know that readers/listeners need to be able to recognize who’s talking, but it bordered on annoying. However, it didn’t effect my enjoyment much, and I recommend this book and the series.
Another great addition to this series and I really enjoyed seeing Jessica all grown up and being part of the investigation. She is definitely going to be a great detective when she gets there.
I enjoyed this new addition to Treasure Cove. The family aspect between Sabrina, her husband, and her daughter added a lot to the solving of this story. The parental side brought a touch of realism as well. The mystery was not too complex but took a bit to figure it out. Lili Dubuque did a wonderful job bringing the story alive.
I received a copy of this audiobook as a gift, and this is my unsolicited review.
