We were back on a mission… It was an endless battle with the cartel, defusing bombs and trying to stay alive while we saved others. Ten years ago, I made the best and worst decision of my life. I joined the Army and left the love of life behind…Lexi. When I returned home years later, I was told she was dating the leader of a local gang, Almas Perdidas, and that she wanted nothing to do with me. nothing to do with me.
After Lexi got a beating for not following the rules, I tried to remind her of what we once had, who we once were together. But she refused to listen.
Little did I know she was carrying a secret of her own that would end in bloodshed.
I needed to make a decision. Leave and continue my life as a solider or stay and fight for the woman I loved and help her escape.

I really enjoyed this story line, it was dark and full of drama and action, and it kept you turning the pages, but the characters didn’t seem to have much chemistry, it seemed as though he was doing all the work and the chasing. Keith is a very likable character but Lexi unfortunately dragged the story down with her self absorbed behavior. So I am not going to rate this book on the downfall of one character because the rest of it was a great read.
Keith gets a second chance to win over his first love !
.
Keith has it all, or does he. He has a great family, a job he loves, friends that are like family…yet something is missing; his one and only love..Lexi.

Wow, this story has a LOT going on. We get to see Keith and Lexi fall , and then struggle with Keith joining the Army, distance and deployments. Slowly our two love birds fall apart and Lexi spirals out of control.
.
This book was not what I was expecting. The storyline is much darker. To say Lexi’s life turns into a show is putting it mildly. This story has secrets, disappointments, betrayals, and possible triggers with domestic violence and sexual assault. This book had it all!!! I was stunned and for once I wondered if Ms. Drake was going to take away the HEA.
.
This book will give you all the feels, sorrow, anger, happiness and joy, then lots of anger! However, as always you have to make it through the storm to see the sunshine . Keith and Lexi has a 10 year journey to love and they earned every damn bit of happiness they get!
.
Do I recommend? Duh..it’s JL Drake, @j.l.drake can’t write a bad book. Will I keep reading? Of course, I already have. Devils Reach Trilogy is next in the reading order…but I have already read the entire series 3 times! Just start reading!! You won’t be disappointed!

“I love you Keith. Always have, always will. But sometimes that’s not enough.”
I’ve been dying to get a closer look into Keith’s life and see what’s had him all tied up in knots. Now that I’ve read Escape, I adore him even more. The author took me back in time and showed me how he met the love of his life… and then lost her.
It was like standing on the railroad tracks and seeing the big bright light of the train heading toward you. I read the synopsis, so I knew what was coming, and there was no way I could stop it from happening. Keith and Lexi were so young, so in love, so perfect for each other. But, when her life was turned upside down and Keith wasn’t there for her she couldn’t get over it. She felt betrayed. Let down. Devastated and abandoned.
Keith thought she would be there waiting for him with open arms when he finally made it back home after being deployed. He soon discovered…she wasn’t. If he could turn back time would he make a different choice? Now, years later when he still can’t get over her. Nobody measures up to the Lexi in his memories, but that Lexi no longer exists. Can he accept the new version of her? If so, can he convince her to give him another chance?
Be still my broken heart…sigh. Being inside Keith’s head was a painful place to be, I suffered with him as he struggled with a past he couldn’t change. And what an adrenaline rush when I joined him on his dangerous missions. What an exciting adventure the author took me on in this story. I’m even more addicted to the Blackstone family if that’s even possible. I’m hoping the family continues to grow and the series never ends. I can’t wait for Freedom! The line forms here…
The Mystery Man
2nd book in the Blackstone series and again J.l. Drake captures your attention. This book is filled with action, lust, emotion, swoon-worthy material. I could just eat up Keith.
We learned about Keith in Broken Trilogy as he becomes a brother to Savi and known for wanting to put tracking devices in the females. Always taking calls/text and secretive dates along with dealing with his hysterical Nan!!! What I love most about this is that his love story is a 2nd chance, with his highschool sweetheart, Lexi. Lexi has a horrible childhood growing up but Keith never gives up on her. He fights day and night for his job but also the love of his life, SWOON!
Again with all the different emotion, Escape will put you on a rollercoaster so enjoy the ride. As a bonus, J.L. Drake crosses over the series with Devil’s Reach, I just love when this happens. You will not be disappointed!!!!!!

Keith and Lexi’s story…
The Blackstone crew are back and it was wonderful catching up with the military group and their families. Keith was a strong protector and stood out like most of the characters did in Honor, the first of this series. Here was the chance to dive into his past and his love… Lexi was his high school sweetheart and one decision made her turn her back on him and their relationship. When they met years later, he had to think fast. He loved his family and Lexi, the one that got away. Using flashbacks, their story, and the up and down truth about what happened between them, was laid out with heart. And hope.
This story had me so torn. A tense plot and a complicated path for love were strong pluses to this read. I loved the fight for right that the Blackstone group had and Keith embodied that ethic. He adored Lexi, his family, and put himself out there again and again to fix all that was broken. Lexi was the weak link to their romance though and that colored my appreciation though it hasn’t dampened my enthusiasm for this series one little bit…

Wow! Such an emotional roller coaster. Keith and Lexi’s story was a great second chance/military romance that took me through all the feels and emotions. Really liking this trilogy.
Happy Reading Everyone!!!
I didn’t love this book, but at the same time I did not hate it. I adore J.L. Drake’s stories and her unique writing style. This book just threw me for a loop, it was so different from her other books. This book was frustrating, emotional, heartbreaking, and again frustrating. Let me explain why I feel that way, Lexi was just way too stubborn, angry, holding on to grief, and not letting go of hurt which I felt was selfish on her part. I believe Keith deserved so much better. I could not bring myself to like Lexi at all. I know they say love is blind, but this was hard to relate to. How much can a man take? This book did keep me engaged, intrigued, and entertained.
High School Sweethearts.
Life changing tragedy that changed there life.
Lexi and Keith had so many obstacles to overcome to get to there HEA.
Love the Blackstone books.
This story takes you on such a ride! Lexi and Keith do not have it easy, they battle some pretty big obstacles. Keith is one of those characters who is inherently good- loves his family (blood related and chosen brothers) and will not give up on you, no matter what you put him through. His unfailing trust in you makes you want to be a better person- I never realized you could fall so far in love with a character in a book!
WOW talk about a rough road traveled,Keith & Lexi your second chance was something awesome to read. I found myself holding my breath a lot with this one, while screaming in my head … No no no no. but I lovedevery minute of it !
What happens when you leave the love of your life behind and go off to war???
Keith did just that and now when he returns home for a wedding, he finds out what has happened to Lexi. Hopefully Lexi will trust him to help her out of the dark world she has found herself in!
This book has it all for me: a military man that plays hockey, a stubborn female who inherently is stronger than she will acknowledge sometimes, and family; blood and military.
I read this book in a day because I couldn’t get enough of these characters. The whole Blackstone Series has me hooked and I cannot wait for more!!
Keith and Lexi’s story is diffrent than I was expecting it to be but it showed a side of Keith that we don’t see in Jodi’s other books and that’s what I love about it. It still has all the traits of one of her fantasic books but gives some more insight into one of the boys we know and love.
Wow! Author J.L. Drake sure knows how to capture the reader’s attention with her amazing storytelling and compelling characters. I loved Keith right from the beginning when he first appeared in Broken and I could not wait to read his story. Keith and Lexi’s relationship was never an easy one and they had to face many challenges to get their happy ending. I really enjoyed following their journey as past and present intertwined and all the twists and turns that this author takes us on. I cannot wait to read the next book in this series.
Keith and Lexi were sweethearts in high school until Keith left for the military. Lexi is left behind in a situation that Keith can’t help her with and things go downward from there. Years later Keith is back for a wedding when he hears that Lexi is dating a gang leader. He warns Lexi but she wants nothing to do with him. He’s determined to save her after she’s beaten for breaking rules. This is a world full of brutality so no hearts and flowers for this couple. A great story and interesting read.
This book had me on the edge of my seat and an emotional wreck throughout. You will be furious one minute, crying and laughing the next. I really don’t want to see this series end. I’m hoping these characters continue to show up within other series.
I’ve read all the books in this series and plan on re-reading! Loved them all!
