A Place in Her Heart by Carolyne Aarsen
Holmes Crossing Series Book Six
Becky Ellison has a very full life and Day-Timer to prove it. Committees, church activities, and her job as editor of Going West magazine. When she meets her new boss, life gets a lot busier. Not to mention he’s the same man whose review of her first book sent sales falling and the refusal of her second book. This good-looking man was the bane of her existence, and yet, as a Christian, she had to find a way to forgive him.
Rick Ethier was angry. He loved his job of traveling around the world. Being outdoors. But no, his controlling grandfather has given him an ultimatum. If he runs Going West and turns it around…Grandfather dearest will get off his case about his job. About settling down. About God. He didn’t expect what he found in Holmes Crossing.
I love all of Carolyne Aarsen’s books. They always leave me with tears in my eyes, a good thing, as they draw you into the lives of the characters. Becky and Rick’s story didn’t disappoint. I loved it!

I thoroughly enjoyed A Place in Her Heart. It was great to watch Becky grow as a writer and Rick grow in faith. Ms. Aarsen writes such believable, fallible, down to earth characters that become family while I am reading her books. Even the grandparents were special. If you enjoy a clean, well written romance with awesome characters, do not miss this book.
It was refreshing to read a book where the main characters disagree but are respectful of each other’s opinions/views. Opposite of the times we live in. Becky and Rick both want the same thing but go about it in different ways. Her family was so fun and I loved how they were matchmakers. This is a romance with a Christian viewpoint – these are my favorite. Great series.
This book is a very Christian book and that is what I liked best about the story. I enjoyed Becky Ellison, an editor who lives with her family in Holmes Crossing. She never seems to find the time to make her dreams come true.
I really enjoyed the feelings Rick Ethier ignited in Becky from anger to love and everything in between. I enjoyed their hot and cold relationship as Rick was trying to find his way back to God and to take down the walls surrounding his heart since he was a seven year old boy and his mom died.
I enjoyed Becky’s close knit family and her undying faith and finally her ability to let love in. I especially liked the banter in the Runaround Sue articles between Becky and Rick. I received an advance copy of this book and I willingly chose to write an honest review.
This book reminds me of a flowing vine that is interwoven around faith, beauty in life and the hand of God. It’s the insight into salvation and yet a story-line of how we “get there” in our belief as a child of God. Rick is not only new in town, he is new at work and having new feelings. With conversation and pictures he tries to capture Becky’s optimistic faith and her enthusiasm for life. Those are some of the words of the author that grabbed me and kept me reading. He wanted to be successful as a publisher and she wanted her words as an editor. This is their story of meeting in the middle at work; his renewed faith in church; and, the families that are involved. I loved the writing and felt comfort from reading this story. Thanks to the author that sent me this ARC that I found happiness at The End.
