Seleska and her companions are being chased for the majority of this book. There are a few narrow escapes, while other times, someone is unable to escape. It does seem like a lot of the people/dragons Seleska gets close to die. When Heron is forced to kill someone, Seleska reacts in shock, but isn’t that why he is there – to protect her? I’m still waiting for her to have some gravity along with her optimism. This may be what it takes.
I received a free audiobook from the author and have reviewed it willingly.
Desperate Flight by Sarah K.L. Wilson is the 3rd in the Dragon Tide series.
The story picks up where the 2nd ended and Seleska’s journey is getting more and more perilous. Can she save magic and keep her dragonlet safe?
Great series!
The river! Fleeing into the river doesn’t stop their pursuers and every foot of their trip upriver is a fight to stay alive. Big happenings at the end. And the flight continues.
A war is brewing and Seleska, Nasataa, and Heron are in the middle
This Novella was amazing. Heron, Seleska and the baby dragon Nasataa are on a wild adventure. Every person is unique and changes as the story goes along. Seleska, Nasataa, and Heron have some strengths and weaknesses which while working together help make their team strong. The characters are great. The plot flows well. The action is nonstop. This story has some sweet moments. People are choosing sides for a war that is coming. I can’t wait to read book 4.
Desperate flight is the third Dragon Tide book. As this is a series it is necessary to read the books in order. Seleska is in a desperate flight to save herself and her baby dragon Natastaa. Danger is everywhere and her short lived allies are dropping like flies. Although the links to previous series are becoming clear there is a sense of same old, same old in this series without the depth of the other brilliant series. Only the fate of Natastaa keeps me reading. This episode is hardly even a novella at under 80 pages .. much too short for the price.
Dragon Tide: Desperate Flight picks up where book two left off. The heartbreaking fact that one of their allies is dead and that soon his rider will follow him in death. Seleska is on the run with Heron and their wounded ally, but how far can they get while being hunted by the Bubblers? It is crucial that they find the Troglodyte before he passes away, but time is against them. Their fight has struck a chord with the people and so division is rampant, and sides have been declared.
Dragon Tide: Desperate Flight is yet another fast-paced story that grabs you and pulls you through the waters along with Seleska and Heron. I know that she was not an intricate part of the story, but my heart broke when Vyvera passed so quickly after the loss of her dragon. I love the thrill of danger that is prevalent at every turn in this book. Seleska is being hunted and she literally must watch her back constantly. Rest is needed, but must be done as best they can because the author reveals that there are two opposing prophecies at play here.
I practically devoured this book in my quest to learn what happens next. This book ends on a serious cliffhanger that has me clambering to find out what happens next. There isn’t anything that I don’t like about this book. This story may be short, but it is engaging and thrilling and I love that about it.
I am rating this story 5 out of 5 stars. If you have read this series/serial to this point then don’t hesitate to grab this story. Yes, they are short, but that is something this author is known for and you never have to wait long for the next installment. The fate of their world is at stake…and I can’t wait to read what happens next.
I just re-read Sarah K. L. Wilson’s Dragon Tide series in advance of reading Dragon Tide 5: Waves of Destiny. Since I apparently didn’t post a review on the third and fourth Dragontide books, Desperate Flight (Book 3) and Bubbles of Hope (Book 4), I thought it best to do a single review as, frankly, these books are uniformly (and totally) wonderful and I pretty much have the same thing to say about both. Quite simply, each of these books is superb. Well written, with a great plot in each book and fantastic overarching story arc, as well as a perfect cast from Seleska, her dragon baby Nasataa, on down, and perfect world-building. Also totally fun. I’ve always loved dragons and this author’s series on them captures that wonder and displays it in its glory. Exactly what I look for and easily worth five stars.
A fantastic read and A fantastic addition to the series. This is a fast paced action packed read that had me on the edge of my seat. There are twists and turns. I am loving the Dragon in this series. The Author really does a Fantastic job at world building and bringing out the characters in this read. I definitely recommend.

In the third book if this series we find our little still getting into trouble. Seleska and her friends are running from their enemies who always seem to be just one step behind them. Seleska is definitely rethinking her definition of what an adventure is all about. They are still desperately trying to make the meeting with the Troglodyte to find out more about what she promised of herself, Nasataa, and Heron. Along the way tragedy strikes the group and the journey seems all but doomed, but they dig deep and keep going. Meeting Ko means getting the more of the information they were needing. There was an unexpected ending to this story, and now I can’t wait until the next book comes out so I can see what will happen next. I would recommend this book
Seleska and her group are on the run, and several of them are injured. So much happens, Vyvera has a limited time to train Seleska and get her to the Troglodytes. The bubblers are not far behind and so insistent on catching her. I loved her meeting with KO and can’t wait to see what happens next for this group on their journey.
