What a good story! The way she describes the kittens’ antics I can just see them. So cute!
The Cafe with its rescue kitties up for adoption might just go under if an unexpected spate of building in formerly unbuildable spaces goes forward. A local beekeeper might suffer a similar fate.
Is it murder or bad business?
Kitten-tastic mystery and adventure!
Marjorie runs a unique cafe where kittens are available for adoption. When a contractor is building a new cafe right close to her she begins to worry about her cafe. Things go from bad to worse when her friend is accused of murder.
This is the first book in the Marjorie’s Cozy Cat Cafe series. It is a great introduction to the well crafted characters and the small town where the series takes place. The storyline flows quickly and smoothly, filled with a great mystery complete with viable suspects, interesting clues and suspense. The narrative is from the heroine letting us get to know her thoughts, feelings and actions. The story is fun and engaging and can be read in one sitting. I really enjoyed this book and look forward to reading more from this series.
This book is a quick read that deals with a little mystery and murder but focuses more on the main character’s thoughts and emotions.
The main character, Marjorie, owns a “kitten cafe.” Which, for those of you who don’t know, is a place to eat baked goods and get coffee while surrounded by adoptable cats. So, needless to say, this is a great indication of Marjorie’s personality. She is very kind and compassionate, but also a little more invested in her cats than her own social life. However, she does have a couple of friends, Esme, being her closest. Since this book is so brief, we don’t get to see a lot of interaction between the friends, but what we do see is very natural and believable. Esme feels like the more spontaneous character, whereas Marjorie seems more grounded, but their friendship totally works. We also meet Braden, Marjorie’s potential love interest, and very briefly get to see their relationship develop.
The plot is a simple one for a couple of reasons. First, it’s a shorter story, so there can’t be too many subplots or distractions mixed in, which isn’t a bad thing at all. That keeps the book moving, and the audience engaged. We are taken down a few different paths, but the story stays focused. The dialogue and overall story arc is appealing. However, I wouldn’t have minded more details to pull me in, such as a bit more character development and interaction. Marjorie definitely spends more time with and talks more to her cats than any of the other characters. But that does allow the reader to see a lot more introspection from the main character.
Overall, this book is entertaining. If you are looking for a book that is a quick read with a little mystery and tons of loveable kittens, then Calico Confusion is a good choice.
Great kitty cozy!

This was a great read drawing me in from the start and keeping me hooked to the end. I’m really looking forward to more books in the series. I highly recommend this to both cat lovers and fans of cozy mysteries.
What a heartwarming story. The kitten café is such a great place to visit. Love the antics of the kittens and how the author describes their traits and how they interact with their potential people available to adopt. Yes, the kittens adopt the people and not the other way around. Very true to life. A wonderful series that I highly recommend to all cozy lovers.
