Who’s worse than Wyatt Earp? An Earp wanna-be with a really big gun. That’s who Kentucky State Police Trooper Jack Fletcher discovers he’s dealing with when he happens up on a deadly two-car crash one foggy morning and finds two dead men, a dead infant, and a seriously-injured woman on the side of the Bluegrass Parkway in central Kentucky. There’s just one problem. When he spotted the accident … accident initially from the other direction on the parkway, he was sure there were three cars.
But where is the car? Who was the mysterious man driving it? And why would he kidnap a 17-year-old girl? Jack goes back to the source—the woman he found on the side of the road—and Aleta Culp confirms the suspicions of the man she’s come to think of as her guardian angel. Jack’s charmed by her innocence, impressed with her tenacity, and ready for the sweet, soft, curvy body she offers him. But when she identifies the wanna-be outlaw, keeping her safe from an up-and-coming cartel leader will only be possible with help from San Antonio FBI Agent Cruz Livingston and Texas Ranger Daxton Chambers. They know the threat better than any of their Kentucky counterparts, but even that may not help.
Loaded with a love that’s hotter than sin, suspense, drama, and a criminal element short on intelligence but long on treachery, Bluegrass Bravery: Justice for Aleta is a triumph of a woman whose losses drive her to be braver than the men around her. The story is built around an actual accident that took place in Kentucky in 1983.

Out of tragedy Aleta Culp finally takes control of her life and starts living it on her terms. Jack Fletcher, Kentucky State Trooper, bears witness to Aleta’s heartache and becomes part of her re-emergence. Falling head over in a short time happens to these two wonderfully likeable characters. Add in a sociopathic assassin and a gang rivalry that could erupt in a bloodbath at any moment…great stuff!
Back to a series that I just got a taste of with the first book of the series earlier this year. The cartel in Kentucky. What? Why? Did he get lost? Aleta and Jack find that they have seen the same thing on a Kentucky highway. Now, how do they find that missing young woman and keep Aleta safe. Jack was just so cool. And Aleta was innocent but not. She was determined to do what was right. Cruz is back and he has a little friend, Daxton. Two of my favorite law enforcement officers.
Watching Jack and Aleta find each other while staying alive was entertaining. Maybe not the right thing but I found our wanna-be cartel head to be a bit on the stupid side of things. I thing what I find most relateable would be the truth bases of some events that Deanndra connects with her stories.
This is a great book! Kentucky State Trooper Jack Fletcher happens up on an accident with one survivor. Aleta Culp Lost her husband and 5 month old son in an accident that left her in bloody and broken. When Jack sees Aleta 4 months later he finds his suspicions of another car at the scene and a crazy man shooting at the other car involved in the accident. As the investigation continues these two develop feelings and both their lives are in danger. There are 2 drug lords, a kidnapped 17 year old chemist, a loco hit man, a concerned brother, FBI, DEA and other alphabet agencies wanting a piece of the pie, hot steamy scenes and two people learning how to love again after loosing someone.
Great second story in the series with an element based on a real tragedy. And what a tragedy it is for Aleta, but she’s a survivor and not who you would think she would be based on her background. I love her spunk and readiness for a little adventure and passion. And she finds both in her angel, Jack, the trooper who’s on the job to find the culprits that changed her life. Lots of sizzle between these two. Like the first story this is a insta in the romance department and I am all for the lust part but could have waited on the love. I really like the mystery and suspense of the story with the drug baddies, a unique assassin and a young girl. And the danger that followed Aleta is suspenseful but she has the hunky Jack to protect her. What a terrific hero! This is a quick easy read that’s well written with wonderful characters. Great secondary characters in law enforcement. I look forward to the next story. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC.
