I really enjoyed this book and am looking forward to reading more of this series. Though this is only part a larger story it can be read as a standalone since their is no cliffhanger.

A really good shifter romance.
Zela is a doctor who specializes in diagnosing patients with blood abnormalities when she gets a case involving Valor, who has an identical twin, Vayne. Despite being truly attracted to Vayne, she tries to avoid them once she realizes there is something strange about them. But there is just something about the bloodwork that calls to her and she can’t let it go. Of course, by then she doesn’t really have a choice. She agrees to help them and finally admits her attraction to Vayne. It’s a really good story that will hold your attention and keep you guessing.

I love well written PNR books and this one hits the spot. Has your bad boy alpha and your sassy female with the chemistry being there and added twist making for the storyline to flow smoothly.

Guarded by Vayne by Haley Weir is an amazing story that I had the privilege to read. This is book number one in this amazing series that I have fallen in love with. I can not wait to read the next book in this amazing series. I highly recommend this story to everyone who loves reading about contemporary and paranormal romances in their stories.

I was so excited by this book. Dr. Zela Harper is a serious woman ruled by her work. She avoids any kind of relationship, even friends, and has no life outside of her research. When she starts treating a John Doe that has strange medical reactions she is enthralled. Vayne appears in the hospital where Zela is treating his twin, Valor. He flirts and she shoots him down. He can’t figure out why she is not falling all over him. That woman’s personality changed 100%. She is fierce, funny, smart and determined to help. Unbelievably she worms her way into all of the brothers’ hearts, including the oldest, Aiden who is also the alpha. The trials she has to go through proves how strong and inventive she is. This is an outstanding beginning for this series. I requested an advanced reader copy from Booksprout and am under no obligation to leave this review.
I can’t point a finger at why, but I didn’t connect with any of the characters until about halfway through the book. None of them start out particularly charming, but they all warm up, and there’s some humor (particularly in the family interactions). I like that it’s a departure from the standard shifter script; this is a type of world I haven’t seen before. There’s also a refreshing level of honesty, and I don’t miss the “keeping secrets for the other person’s good” trope at all (although a little bit sneaks in about 3/4 of the way through, it’s short-lived). There are minor proofing issues, but a HEA with presumably the other brothers’ stories yet to come.

An absolutely fantastic first book in the “Carnal Creek Shifters” series and it is a fast pace engaging page turner! The storyline is well-developed, emotionally deep, and well written. There are twists and turns, suspense, danger, witty banter, humour – I laughed through out the entire book, and heart-racing adventure that will keep you on the edge of your seat. This book took me on one wild ride and kept me captivated until the end. The characters are strong and their development is obvious; the chemistry between them is off the charts, intense, instant, and potent. A lot happened in this book and it is definitely worth the read.

Guarded by Vayne
Haley Weir
WOW! Talk about fated mates! She worked for the CDC. He was once a Viking, cursed, and is now a were wolf (along with his twin). They arrive at the ER where she works and she gets his (brothers) case because she works the cases that are odd.
If you like werewolves and fated mates, read this book.

Guarded is book one in the Carnal Creek Shifters series and my first book by this author. I loved that this book is about a group of ancient Vikings that were cursed and became wolf shifters. Vayne and Valor are twin Vikings who come from the cursed Viking line. Zela is a Dr at the hospital where Valor comes in with an illness and was chosen as his Dr because of her previous work for the CDC. When Vayne enters the room Zela doesn’t realize that she is his mate but is completely thrown off. Vayne and Zela are fated mates but can they get past the curse? Great start to the Carnal Creek Shifters series and I can’t wait to read the rest of the series.
