Prudence Carlson has been lucky in life. A fulfilling wedding-planning business she runs with her girlfriends in Colorado, plus the best guy friend ever in her firefighter bestie, Finn. All that’s missing from it is a baby. Luckily, it’s the twenty-first century–Pru can take matters into her own hands. She doesn’t need to find true love to create the future love of her life. Except all this … all this talk of babies and insemination and…Pru and Finn cross a line they never expected to. Sure, one night of passion won’t change their close friendship. Until Pru goes in for a fertility check-up to find…she’s already pregnant.
As best friends, Pru and Finn have survived college, new jobs, and bad breakups, but can they survive crib shopping, birth classes, and late-night cravings? Especially when Finn has never considered himself even remotely as daddy material?

This was a super sweet, light romance. Pru and Finn were super enjoyable characters, along with their friends and family.
Prudence wanted a family and after no luck in the relationship department, she decides to take matters into her own hands. She has the most supportive group of friends and business partners who will be there every step of the way. Then there is her best friend since forever, Finn. Who will also supportive of her and her decision. Of course, Practical Pru’s plan doesn’t turn out like she imagined and her friendship with Finn will be forever changed.
I LOVED Pru and Finn’s friendship from the start, but there relationship was something special. They wanted the exact opposite when it came to relationships and family. Pru wanted it all, she was the girl who didn’t really have that growing up and Finn, didn’t want to put anyone through the pain of losing him given his career choice of being a firefighter. They had chemistry that was through the roof. Finn was super swoony and caring and loving and so supportive.
The Best Friend Problem is a super sweet best friends to lovers romance with a sweet adorable baby added into the mix. Definitely a must read for anyone looking for a light hearted romance.
4 Stars
This is a sweet, sexy and funny book with an interesting premise. Pru and Finn have been best friends since childhood, never crossing that line to something more. When it does happen what follows is a series of events that is so far outside their comfort zones that they are scrambling, in their own ways, to cope. Pru can be a bit more hurtful and rude to Finn, in my opinion, at various points of the book and I did find myself having difficulty to really like her as much as I should for that reason. I understand where her personality was part of the reason for her reactions but Finn is written as such a caring and nurturing man it really made her hurtful comments and behavior stand out. Overall, this book definitely has its funny moments, Hot moments and “Awww” moments.

4.5 Stars for The Best Friend Problem
This is a new author to me but not for long because after reading this book I will certainly be checking out her other works and I really hope she decides to give the secondary characters in this book get their own stories. This book captivated me from the ist chapter to the last line, I loved the banter Finn and Pru shared and I had some real laugh out loud moments throughout this witty read.
Friends to lovers are one of my favourite genre’s but this book was so much more than just a friendship that turned into love this book left me feeling that what ever happened in this couple’s life their friendship would remain intact even miss understandings and miss communication would not break the bonds of friendship. If you are looking for a lighthearted witty read with great loveable characters look no further than The Best Friend Problem. Looking forward to more from this author.
Mariah Ankenman entertains with her new release The Best Friend Problem, which features two childhood friends who blur the lines between friendship and forever.
Ankenman takes the traditional BFF trope and amps it up a notch with Pru and Finn. Never having a romantic relationship what could come one hot night together? A baby. Ankenman takes these two on a journey between love, friendship and family that was absolutely worth your one click.
Pru, Finn and all the characters were interesting, funny and lovely to read. Her storyline was entertaining from cover to cover. As a lover of friends to lovers storylines, I can easily say this one is worth your read!
A delightful story. Prudence likes to make plans so she won’t be disappointed. She wants a baby and has it all worked out. Finn is a sexy firefighter and her best friend. They decide to celebrate her plans to have a baby and instead end up making one. Now they have to figure out their friendship and future. The story is filled with funny quips and conversations. There are some really great characters that are bound to make great future books. You will love the sweetness of this friendship and the dreams they are able to achieve.
4 star review The Best Friend Problem by Mariah Ankerman
A new author to me, I found myself captivated by this story from the first to the last chapter. Pru and Finn are best friends and after one drunken night of passion, Pru finds herself pregnant. For Pru this is a dream come true, even though it was not how she had planned to conceive.
The banter between Pru and Finn, as well as Pru and her partners/room mates was humorous and at times made for some laugh out loud moments.
I really enjoyed the relationship that Finn and Pru built based on a firm friendship of many years. Even though it took a lot for them both to realize the feelings that they had for one another. It appears everyone else could see it, except them.
Miss communication led to stress and tension at times throughout it all you knew that their friendship would remain intact.Although having said that there were times that I got frustrated with both Pru and Finn.
Hopefully the secondary characters will get their own stories as I for one would love to read their stories.
Reading the back cover I wasn’t really taken with it (never a big fan of friends to lovers books) but in opened up the kindle and flipped the page …..
Pru is successful at business, loving life, but something is missing, Pru would love a child. Being an only child and orphan (she lost both her parents at a young age.) But with no man on the horizon (not counting her best friend Finn) Pru doesn’t see it happening anytime soon. But who needs a man when you have anonymous sperm donors?!
Finn has known Pru since they were teenagers, they know each other inside out, she gets him like no one else does (so subconsciously has he been measuring past flames against Pru?) he’s a love them and leave them type of guy, not really looking for a commitment. But all that changes one night …..
After a booze filled evening Pru and Finn sleep together, both are terrified that it will ruin their friendship, and when she finds out she’s pregnant, what will they do next?
Exploring their growing feelings for one another, it felt like it was only going to be a matter of time before this happened.
I still don’t like the friends to lovers genre, but I did like how the author put this book together.
Friends to Lovers.
One of my favourite tropes. Finn is a firefighter who doesn’t do relationships because of his risky job and orphan Pru longs for a family but cannot find ‘The One’. Friends for years, Pru is nervous to tell Finn about her decision to have a baby by sperm donor but Finn is as supportive as ever and they celebrate together. One thing leads to another and they sleep with each other. Several weeks later Pru discovers she is pregnant the natural way by her best friend! A fun quick read with lovable characters.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book from NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
The Best Friend Problem by Mariah Ankenman a five-star read that will support you. I adored this one, I haven’t read this author before, but I will be looking out in the future for as what great, funny writing. Finn was just adorable and dedicated to his job saving people. Pru was brilliant, her and the girls have a plan and they are sticking to it, I would happily have them plan my next wedding, I can just imagine it up the mountain in the sunshine but high enough there is some breeze. Throw in a determination to have a cute little baby and what a great story you have. I can’t wait for more from this author.
Can I Have A Fin?
‘The Best Friend Problem’ – is a quintessential best friends to lovers romance with a sassy, delectable twist! Finn, Pru and their hilarious mash-up of friends breathe life into a favorited romance storyline, making it an enjoyable one sitting read for me!
Pru has tried to find ” Mr. Right” that has not worked out in her favor. Ready to move on with her life plan- its baby-making time, with no men in sight, a sperm donor will be her preferred donor. Finn, best friend extraordinaire is tasked with helping her along the way. Mind whirling with the bomb she just threw in his direction, he knows no matter what he will help her.
Well, he helped. Sort of, kick-starting a rollercoaster of heated and heart-squeezing moments they’ll never forget.
Such a fun read! A well laid out tale with great characters and perfect amounts of all that is good in the fictional world!
I highly recommend checking this yummy spark induced romance for yourself!

Oh, wow! I am going to have one serious book hangover after reading The Best Friend Problem. Mariah Ankenman has penned one beautiful, fantastic friends to lovers romance. It’s combined with a surprise baby story and that’s got to be two of my favorite combinations.
Finn and Pru have been best friends since high school. Pru lost her parents well quite young and was raised by a great aunt, who is now deceased. All alone, Pru has decided to get a sperm donor so she can become a mother. Well, one night with a little bit too much booze on both sides and you’ve got it, no sperm donor is necessary. But both Finn and Pru have to be brave enough to realize that what they’ve got for each other is a whole lot more than just best friends. It was wonderful watching the story develop and their relationship grow and I can’t say enough things about how good this story is.
Told in 3rd person, this is a heart-warming romance with 2 complete characters. Tasteful love scenes, emotional ybut not graphic. 5 star all the way.
