Piper has been crushing on Ryder Williams for years.. What better chance to make her move on him than when he’s sacrificing himself on an auction block for a squealing mass of fans at a charity event? Too bad she’d rather hide in the bathroom than raise her paddel; what girl actually bids on a guy who doesn’t know she exists? Not. Piper. But that’s what friends are for…One meddling best friend, … for…
One meddling best friend, and an overpriced bid later, and Ryder Willams is Piper’s for the taking. Too bad that she has no intention of collecting on his debt.
Too bad Ryder is determined to find out why.
NOTE:: Switch Bidder is a SHORT #JockHard Novella, at 10,000 words. Aka: Short Novella.

Well that was quick!!
It was just getting good and then BAM. Over
Well I guess they start dating and all.ends in an HEA??
These novellas are life. I am loving them so much.
Piper has had a crush on fellow classmate Ryder Williams for quite some time now. Ryder is a star baseball player and part of a fraternity on campus. They had a class together in freshmen year and Piper can’t seem to get him off her mind.
Piper’s best friend, Mallory, is always trying to get her out of her comfort zone. Piper is this super shy and innocent person. She loves reading romance novels which made me like her even more. Mallory drags Piper to this auction that one of the fraternities are hosting for a charity event. They’re auctioning off different guys and Ryder happens to be one of the participants. While Piper is too shy to bid on Ryder…her friend Mallory has zero problems taking care of it for her friend. In the end, Mallory wins Ryder during the auction and writes down Piper’s contact info.
This book was really cute and definitely had some steam to it. I only wish that it was longer. It was over WAY too quickly for my tastes. I loved seeing how the book played out after the auction. You’ll have to pick up the book or audio book to see how everything went. Let me tell you, the narrator for Ryder is EVERYTHING. I looked it up and his name is Jason Clarke. I 100% found a new narrator to love. I was swooning so hard over his voice!!! EEK!!!
Definitely pick up this book and this author!! You won’t regret it!!!
This book was so good I was sad it was over. I loved Piper and how quirky yet shy she was. She has such a fun personality when she lets it shine. She is lucky to have a great group of friends who look out for her.
Ryder is actioning himself for a good cause. One lucky lady will get him to do any chores around the house they want.
The banter between these two was so fun and the chemistry was perfect. I really enjoyed this fun fast paced read.
Sara Ney is a go-to author when I want laugh-out-loud sports romance. I love how well she mixes humor, romance, depth, and sexy times in her books, as well as getting glimpses of her personality through her writing. I listened to this free audiobook through the ReadMeRomance Podcast.
Summary:
Piper’s crush on Ryder has spanned her entire college career, but she’s just too chicken to do anything about it. Even when they shared space in class all she could was stare. Of course, a bachelor auction in which Ryder is sacrificing his time to the masses would be an excellent place to make a move. Too bad the thought of bidding, let alone winning, makes Piper weak in the knees and lightheaded. Especially since Ryder has no idea who she even is. But a well-intentioned shove sees Piper as the victor with a very large, very hot prize. A prize she never collects. Thinking the whole situation is over, Piper is gobsmacked when Ryder seeks her out to find out why.

Sports romances are an oft-read genre for me, and Sara Ney a one-click author. The Jock Hard series has been a hit and miss series for me, though. I loved the prequel, but it fell a bit with book one. Then, came back strong with book two. Switch Bidder was looking like a winner, and I did enjoy it. But, I did have one major problem. First, I liked the characters. Piper was the cute, shy sort, but not a doormat. I did feel that she was very naive, and that didn’t quite fit, what with the best friend she had. Ryder was sweet. I was pleasantly surprised to find out that he’d crushed on Piper the whole time. Although, I didn’t like the implication that he’d bowed out of pursuing Piper because of his friend’s short crush. Together, they were funny and cute, then steamy. I loved the banter between them, and really enjoyed the telephone get-to-know-you scene. The sexy times may come across as happening quickly after they’d spent barely any time together (I personally don’t mind), but it is a novella, so it’s a little expected. It was also incredibly hot. In the end, I really liked this addition to the series. The unintentional winning bid concept was fun and not one I’ve seen a lot of. I had a bit of an issue with the female narrator’s voice, at first. It took me an episode to get used to it, and I never got used to the whiny voice she used for Piper’s best friend. Luckily, there wasn’t a lot of her dialogue and I really enjoyed the male narrator. My biggest issue was the abrupt ending. I was just getting into a Piper and Ryder togetherness, and it was just done. It’s not that I have unanswered questions, but more that I liked them individually and as a couple and I wanted more. Sara has said this won’t be released in ebook, and I’m fervently hoping she changes her mind. I’d love to add this to my shelf, as well as get some bonus content expanding on Ryder and Piper’s relationship, giving us more of an HEA instead of a HFN.
This was a super short novella which had a very abrupt ending. Will there be another book about these two? The story was just too short to really get to know Ryder and Piper.
An short sweet story. That once you start to get into it it’s over. Which is a tease. I knew it was a novella. Nut I expected a complete story.
I discovered this through the Read Me Romance podcast as that’s where I heard this first. Normally, after the podcast and the book is released, the eBook itself will have more content through an epilogue or something. I thought this would be the case with this. But it wasn’t. I was left disappointed. The writing was awesome. I was loving the characters and the banter between Piper and her friends and I loved Ryder and Piper’s first date. But then it just ended sometime after that and we get no resolution. An epilogue would have been great as that would have at least given us a glimpse into how their relationship turned out.
Sara Ney never ceases to amaze me.
Loved Piper and Ryder. This was a sweet, cute, fun and short read that left me wanting more. Can’t wait for me to come.
Short but wonderful. Love the series. The characters are great and the banter is so good. Can’t wait for more.
Want a sweet romance easy read summer novella? Then this is the novella for you.
Do you enjoy reading about characters who you can relate to? Then this is the novella for you.
Enjoy reading male characters who will go to great lengths to get what he wants? Then this book is for you.
Do you love friends who will go above and beyond to help out in the name of a crush? Then this book is for you.
Sara does it again with a light-hearted book about needing that extra help to go for what you want. Ryder is swoon-worthy, and Piper is the girl who knows who she is but needs help going after what she wants. Sara puts it all together for an enjoyable read that won’t disappoint.
This quick little novella was both sexy and sweet. I loved that even though it was short there was a good progression in the storyline. It started off sweet and innocent before quickly setting everything on fire. I was caught off guard by how quickly these two came together once they connected. I would be very interested in getting more from these two in the future and hope they make an appearance in future books from this series.
This was a super cute and super fast read.
If you’re pressed for time and looking for something short and sweet with a fun storyline, zero angst, a touch a steam and a guaranteed HEA then I highly recommend this novella!
Switch Bidder is a quick cute read. Piper is a shy and sweet. She has had a crush on Ryder since her start of college but has done nothing about it. Ryder take part in a charity auction and while Piper is hiding out in the bathroom her friend bid on him and win for Piper. Piper has his number but doesn’t plan on calling him but they run into each other. I liked Ryder. He’s not cocky but goes after what he wants. I loved these two. I really wanted more and I was a little disappointed when he pages weren’t turning any more.
I love Sara’s writing so of course I knew I would love this book even if it is a novella. I desperately want more though. NO!!! I neeeeed more!!!
I’m always a little impressed when a novella (especially a short novella) manages to suck me in and get me invested. Usually the pacing of novellas is too quick and my heart wants more time to bask in the feels and the swoons. And, to be honest, I felt a bit of that here as well, like the build up was so perfect and then it took off on turbo speed and sort of left me feeling like I wanted more time to revel in the warm glow of these two fantastic characters. What’s different here, however, is that I still felt invested in them. My issue isn’t that I felt disconnected from their relationship, only that I wanted more time with it.
That said, this was a super fun read. Quick and flirty and a fair bit dirty. It does move very quickly and ends abruptly, but Sara Ney can write the heck out of some playful, sparky chemistry and her dialogue/banter is always on point. There were some laugh out loud moments, and some moments that set my heart aflutter.
Switch Bidder was a fantastically refreshing little nip of Ney’s addictive Jock Row series. Just a little taste to keep me wanting more. And? It worked. 100%. I loved these characters and this playful little storyline, and I am positively salivating for more of this series!
Switch Bidder is such a sweet and fun short story.
I love Sara Ney’s characters and Piper and Ryder were completely endearing.
Piper is reserved and quiet, I could totally relate to her character. Whereas Ryder is the popular jock, and baseball player, he’s also Piper’s secret crush. He’s sweet and cute, and I loved the fun and flirtatious banter that takes place over text as well as in person.
I want to see more of this pair, as this title is more of an extended prequal than even a novella.
I originally listened to Switch Bidder on Read Me Romance, so I was totally pumped with Sara announced a full novella was coming. I love the sassy wit, social awkwardness and smoking hot scenes she writes. Piper and Ryder have crushed on each other for years, unknown to each other. After a fundraiser auction, they get their chance to spend time together. While this book moved QUICKLY, there’s so much to love! I would have liked a little more closure at the end, it was a little abrupt and some bits were missing to create a fully rounded novella for me, but Sara Ney always delivers a story to tickle my fancy.
