A splendid send-up of government, the postal system, and everything that lies in between in this newest entry in Terry Pratchett’s internationally bestselling Discworld series. Convicted con man and forger Moist von Lipwig is given a choice: Face the hangman’s noose, or get Ankh Morpork’s ancient Post Office up and running efficiently! It was a tough decision . . . Now, the former criminal is … . .
Now, the former criminal is facing really big problems. There’s tons of undelivered mail. Ghosts are talking to him. One of the postmen is 18,000 years old. And you really wouldn’t want to know what his new girlfriend can do with a shoe.
To top it all off, shadowy characters don’t want the mail moved. Instead, they want him dead—deader than all those dead letters. (And here he’d thought that all he’d have to face was rain, snow, and gloom of night . . .)

Terry Prachett’s take on the postal system in his world. Very funny as are all the Discworld books.
There is no funnier protagonist than Moist Lipwig!
A easy to read book, Linda off the wall. The characters are interesting, and the story line compels you to read more.
Terry Pratchett (may he rest in peace) is always a great read. He seems finished with Rincewind and the Night Watch, but Moist von Lipwig is a great successor!
Hilarious, as with all Terry Pratchett books.. Never can see how he will resolve the problems, but the way he gets there is always amazing.
I keep coming back to this book anytime I see Terry Pratchett’s work out there. I’ve mainly only read his Discworld series and out of all those books, the ones that feature Moist von Lipwig like this one are my favourites.
Terry Pratchett’s Disc World series is in a class of its own. Fantasy and humor are the high gloss over socio-political satire that’s as sharp as a razor’s edge.
Wonderful Terry Pratchett book. Love how he can take something mundane and twist it until it comes out funny and original. Great Discworld novel. Over the years I believe I have read every one he has written.
This is the first Diskworld book I’ve read it hook me on to the series
Part of the Discworld series. Fun reading. A lot of familiar characters to those who have read previous books in the series.
Of all the humorous fantasy books Terry Pratchett has written, this book is the funniest. I do like his Sam Vimes character better, but this story (starring Moist Von Lipwig) has the most laughs per page. The audio version is especially well done.
Who doesn’t dream of making the postal service run better? I suppose this is a sub-sub-genre, called …
Terry Pratchett’s Disc World was one of the most enjoyable fantasy fictions created. Humor, satire and social conscience all rolled together. The earlier works are short and do nont build as the later books, but all are fun reading.
How can you not love a book with a character named Moist von Lipwig?
