Ava:Left to die as an infant, Ava Beaumont has not had an easy life. Being raised by the system has taught her to be independent, hardworking and cautious. When Ava becomes a victim she uses her inner strength to put it behind her and move forward. Now she lives a good life with the family she has created through adopting pets that were also throwaways, including a smart mouthed parrot and a … a skateboarding pig. When Ava meets Gunner she realizes what her life is lacking but does she have the courage to trust a big, rough biker enough to let him into her safe little life?
Gunner:
Being the President of the Devil’s Angels MC was not something Gunner asked to become but through the loss of his dad the job was thrust upon him. While he loves his club and club brothers wholeheartedly, Gunner wants his club to move in a better direction. And when Gunner spots bakery owner Ava, he realizes that’s not the only change he wants to make in his life.
Nothing worth having is easy to acquire.
This is an MC story with a heart. Come meet the crazy pets and even crazier club members of the Devil’s Angels MC.

I LOVE this book! It is the perfect MC story! It covers all the bases of a normal MC plus it has the added fun of humor throughout it. I really couldn’t get enough of Gunner or Ava but it’s the pets and the rest of the MC that really elevate this to an outstanding story.
Ava is impressive at what she has accomplished and survived. I mean really….it’s a lot! She is a take no crap lady. Gunner is the Prez and even though he is a jerk more than once to Ava. I still like him. He just needed trained. She is the perfect one to train him.
I love Axel and Ava’s relationship. It makes me laugh all the time. Especially when Gunner doesn’t like it. That makes it even funnier. Chubs is another favorite character. Actually I loved all the MC boys. Pooh, Petey, Cash, Rex even Vex. The verbal sparring between these men and Ava is glorious. They are tough but still have heart. Ava just brought them all together.
The pets are the absolute stars of this story. Mac being number one. I have many highlighted passages and many of them are conversations that Mac has with someone else.
I loved meeting this crew and Ava along with her pets. I always wonder about Ralph (nasty neighbor) and what could have happened there other than The given introduction to Ava, Petey and Gunner. Anyway this was a new author for me and I am more than pleased I gave this a shot. Totally worth it and I am on to book 2!
*WARNING* contains explicit sexual content, crude language, and violence
Gunner is President of Devil’s Angels MC. Gunner puts his club first always, which is why he never wanted an Ol’ Lady, never wanted a wife. Gunner would not say no to a one nighter with old Petey’s neighbor though.
Ava and her little family of a bird, cat, pig, and a dog has moved many times, but she has started a business this time. Ava loves to bake and maybe it’s time to stay somewhere and try to let go of the past. The company the next door neighbor gets is great eye candy too.
Oh my gosh, this book was great. I would have given it 5 stars if it weren’t for all the little editing errors. There was something happening on every page. Ava was the wounded one, but she ended up training him. The menagerie of pets and their antics had me laughing out loud several times. These big bad bikers gave lots of feels, Pops had me in tears with his big announcement towards the of the book. The ending was wonderful. I’m hooked! I’ll be reading the rest now!
Close to a four star.
The heroine is a superhero.
She’s a type 1 diabetic, song-writing singer, club-slut slamming baker with mad skills at martial arts, and the patience of a saint dealing with the dumbest MC gang Prez EVER. He promises fidelity, but keeps forgetting as he lets the club girls snuggle up to him then worries the heroine has seen him. Yes. Every time, dude. Every single time. He doesn’t cheat though.
His house…
It’s a Cape Cod style, dark gray with white trim. It has four bedrooms, three bathrooms and great closets. I especially like the open floor plan between the living room, dining area and kitchen. A long slate grey granite counter top in the kitchen separates it from the dining room and living room areas. The appliances are all top of the line and are a cooks dream. And everything is surprising neat, orderly and clean.
That’s some biker dream house. So, he may be gay. Not that there’s anything wrong with that.
When she says something, she means it.
Katey makes a sudden grab for Ava and Ava catches her wrist before it gets to her.
Holding Katey’s arm in between them, Ava calmly states looking Katey in the eye,
“It’s only fair to warn you, before you do something stupid, that I don’t fight like a girl. I don’t pull hair and scratch and scream. I punch, strike and go for the most damage possible. I would end up…..
Nobody touches me. Nobody hits me anymore without feeling a shit ton of pain.”
Some of the writing is incredibly crude and harsh which I wasn’t comfortable with, but it does add punch to the character, literally and figuratively.
Odd, weird and just doesn’t make sense:
The word “ok” is used at the beginning of a sentence several times and not once is it capitalized. Huh? Here is the tip of the OK iceberg:
“ok Prez. Be there soon.
“ok, I’m going to bed.
“ok Ava.
“ok, ok. Stop!
“ok, cool.
She’s a type 1 diabetic but can go 40 hours without insulin.
She has a pig, a 190 lb “Native American” dog (don’t know what that is), and a macaw that calls her Mom and carries on conversations. He waves at the bikers with his wing.
Her pig…First thing I spot when I hit the main room is Gee riding his skateboard around the room wearing a t-shirt that reads: I only ride Hogs!
She’s 26 and owns a bakery that employs 7 people.
Is Denver the center of the MC universe? How many MC’s are there?
There is a Petey. Is he related to KA’s Big Petey?
She’s actually smart about her safety.
I decide to put them in a cart, rather than carry them, following the advice from a former self-defense instructor who said not to weigh your arms down in case you needed them for protection. I know I sound paranoid. Don’t judge me. I ignored my instincts once and paid dearly for doing that. Never again. I may not be able to save myself someday, I can’t control other people’s actions, but I can do my best not to put myself in a bad situation or be unaware of what’s going on around me. Be aware, be prepared my instructor used to say.
Final thoughts
Despite its grammar issues and bizarre characters, I loved this. The heroine was a kickass, take no prisoners sweetheart, and the H was appropriately besotted pretty quickly. Birds don’t twitter about her head or braid her hair, but it’s close. The biker gang is about as threatening as a gaggle of Golden Retrievers on a play date, and I think they may have actually converted one of the rival gang members instead of offing him. Just a fun and silly read.
No cheating, but quite a bit of violence and some crude language. I have a low threshold for violence so there you are.
Lola Wright needs a good editor because she has a fun voice and can string together a story. In her comments she writes that she started writing because of her frustration with all the idiot heroines out there. Ava is a little too eye-rollingly perfect, but not to the point of aggravation, and she definitely is not a traditional tropey h.
What a fantastically hysterical book! I laughed so much at the antics of not only Ava’s animals, but the crazy MC members. Lots of I between Ava and Gunner. A great story. I laughed, shed a few tears and cheered for Ava and Gunner. Can’t wait for more about this cast of characters.
This is my first book by this author and I think she has real promise. I’m not saying this wasn’t a good book. I enjoyed it once I got into it and was able to read it quickly. I liked both Gunner and Ava. Ava was so strong and I really respected her. Gunner was great and made me swoon a lot.
I don’t think the cover really fit the story. Normally I read based off covers and I wouldn’t normally have read it if it wasn’t for a recommendation just based off the cover. I’m also going to add that it seemed that the author just kept throwing things at the heroine. Some things were brought up once and then just never talked about again. Like the singing. Why bring that up to not show us her singing. It just seemed like unnecessary filler.
Overall it was a decent book and I do plan to read more in this series. It was pleasant, I liked the banter and the off the wall characters. It was a good start to this series and this author career. I am going to say that this book would have benefited from a better editor. Normally grammar and typos don’t bug me but this was riddled with quote marks in wrong places, tons of no capitalizations at the beginning of sentences. It’s something that really stood out to me and I thought I would mention it.
So; for this being the authors first book I think she did good. Loveavle characters, great banter between the characters, a good plot that moved forward at a great pace and just a great setting. I look forward to reading more. 3 stars #2OCCJD
My intro to author Lola Wright and I was impressed with this MC story with heart. I admire the heroine Ava, she is pretty incredible and I fell in love with her crazy pets! Gunner, prez of the Devil’s Angels MC meets his match with Ava. Their ride to a HEA will make you cry, laugh, fall in love with all the brothers! I have already one clicked the next book in this series! Highly recommend this book!!!
Ava Beaumont has a past that she keeps safely guarded and to herself. When her crazy neighbor makes waves and calls the cops on her because of her dog Loki, she ends up receiving help from Gunner, the President of the Devil’s Angels MC. Gunner is a one and done type of man, he has enough responsibility with his club to form any attachment to a woman let alone get himself an Ol lady but one look at Ava he knows he wants her.
Ava isn’t sure she can trust Gunner but he claims he wants to try a relationship with her. Will the biker who is set in his ways be able to be trusted? Ava quickly finds herself becoming part of the MC life but a threat is out there she thought was in her past and Gunner is determined to keep her safe. Will he be able to?
Wonderful read. This author was recently recommended to me and she did not disappoint. Loved Ava, she is a terrific heroine who has risen when she could have easily failed. Gunner is pure alpha male and the others in the club are fascinating. Loved the animals in this story, they bring a lot of humor to it. Excellent read.
4,5 stars
Okay, let me start with saying that I loved this book!! I was looking for something funny to read and I got my wish with this story. It was funny, crazy but also emotional at times.
‘The Devil’s Angel MC’ is the debut book of the writer Lola Wright. I discovered this book through the MC readers group where I’m in and this book was (and still is) a hot topic in the group. The readers there really loved it very much, so that got me very curious about this story. Especially, because the reviews on the different book websites were a bit of a mix between ‘love’ and ‘hate’. So I decided to see what I thought of it myself.
And after reading it, I can understand why everyone is talking about this book! I loved this story very much but I can understand that it isn’t for everyone. Because yes, this story was a bit over the top (and not really realistic at times) but I enjoyed every second of it. Ava was a sassy, fun character with a lot of love to give and Gunner was this sexy alpha man who was very protective of his woman. I loved their chemistry together and the banter between them. Gunner has never been in a relationship before so he made little mistakes but I liked the way that Ava handled this and Gunner was always very sorry and importantly, he learned from them. But what made this story especially funny, were the animals and the guys of the MC club. They had me laughing out loud many times.
The only thing that I had a little bit trouble with was that the editing wasn’t perfect, there were a few typos and there were a few times that I had to reread a sentence to understand it, but that didn’t bother me really.
The story was told from both POV’s. The sex scenes were steamy.
If you are looking for a dark story, this is not the one. Although Ava had something terrible happen to her in the past, the scene wasn’t told in specific details.
So…. if you have read and loved ‘Enough’ by Danielle Norman or the ‘Bad habit’ series by J.T. Geissinger or ‘The rock chick’ series by Kristen Ashley, then you have to give this book a try too.
ThIs book is full of action and humor. Ava is sweet, funny and one tough woman. She completes Gunner and the club. This book has several laugh out loud moments. I love all the characters especially Ava’s pets. On to the next book.
If I’m not mistaken, this is Lola Wright’s first book & she hit it out of the park! This is an MC tale but a sweet MC. This is the story of Ava, Gunner (prez of MC), & her pets. One of Ava’s neighbors is a member of the MC & that’s how they meet. Ava has tragedy in her past, possible triggers, but nothing that happens in this book. These tragedies have made her stronger & she is an amazing character! Baker, caterer, lover of animals, does martial arts, love her! Gunner has been the president of the MC for a while & has had his eye on Ava but he’s not interested in an Ole Lady. It’s kind of insta love & Gunner does make some mistakes but no cheating. I was good with his mistakes because of who he was, he’s not going to be perfect. I know I’m being vague but I don’t want to spoil anything. Lola Wright has built an awesome world & is developing some great characters. Along with meeting Ava & Gunner she has set herself up for books about Axle, Chubs , Vex, Cash, & more. I’m really looking forward to the second book about Axle & I highly recommend this one!
Love a book where the heroine is an extremely strong woman coming back from tragedy. Not one to cry about how life was unfair, Ava works hard to get what she wants and to get the feeling of safety back. Gunner and the MC brothers are right there with her and have her back. Thank goodness Ava has learned from her previous tragedy and has taken precautions to never be helpless again because her survival instincts are pushed to the limit in this great MC story!
I loved this book it’s the first time I’ve heard of this Author before but ill definitely read more from her. This book was funny and action packed sad and entertaining. There where lots of laugh out loud moments and moments that nearly made me cry. I hope to read more in this series by Author Lola Wright.
I enjoyed that Ava was written as a logical and kick ass heroine and didn’t wilt under pressure. The relationship between her and Gunner was great to see evolve. I can’t wait to see what is next and hope that Chubs will get a kick ass girl who can cook.
I am going to do my level best to be as coherent as possible, just warning you. I say this because I don’t think I can contain how much I LOVED THIS BOOK! Lola Wright is a rock star author of epic proportions! I picked up The Devil’s Angels MC for two reasons; one is that I love MC romances and two is that it was recommended by some other readers. The tidbits they shared really hooked me and I snapped it up. I read it in a day, laughing and biting my nails in anxiety totally wrapped up in Ava, Gunner, Chubs, Axel, Petey, Mac, and Loki. The dialogue is amazing, the chemistry between Ava and Gunner could start a bonfire and the danger that looms in the shadows was intense. This is one of the best books I have read this year. I need another book by this amazingly talented lady asap! Ten stars for The Devil’s Angels MC!
