Two Shattered HeartsBrody Murphy feels as if he’s lost everything when his best friend and partner, Paul, dies in the line of duty. Partners on the force for years, Paul Donovan was all Brody had. Paul accepted Brody as he was—standoffish from a childhood in the foster system, bisexual in a police force that wasn’t entirely welcoming, Brody is now adrift. Wracked by survivor’s guilt and grief, … grief, Brody devotes what’s left of his heart to help Paul’s widow and her children. And when his partner’s oldest child returns home a grown man, Brody is torn between what he thinks he should do and what his heart wants.
Grief Binds Them
Cooper Donovan is in his senior year of college when the unthinkable happens. His father dies, and Cooper returns home to be with his family, and help his mother with his little sisters. So many things were left unsaid between Cooper and his father, a fact that weighs heavily on his heart. College helped Cooper learn more about who he was and what he wanted from life, and with Brody Murphy comes unexpected feelings and complications.
Hope Leads Them Home
Brody and Cooper forge a connection that leaves Brody conflicted, Cooper determined, and both men wounded by their shared grief. While Brody struggles with why he lived, and Paul died—he had no one and nothing, and Paul had everything to live for, Cooper sees a man who deserves love and happiness under the grief. Tension rises when Brody and Cooper can’t deny what’s happening between them. Both men are picking up the pieces of their previous lives and putting together a new future, one where hope and love heals, and home is in each other’s arms.

When Cooper returns home from college after his father lost his life in the line of duty, he never expected to fall in love with his father’s partner, Brody, and Brody never expected to fall in love with his partner’s son.
My emotions were all over the place as I read this book. I laughed and smiled, but I also cried like a baby at times. This is a wonderful story of discovery, love, loss, and acceptance – one that I will re-read often.
Oh this was good! MM romance with an ugly cry at the start. This book really gets you in the feels. Main characters are Brody and Cooper. Told from duel POV and with an age gap. Brody is a police officer and Cooper just finishing college. A massive journey for everyone including the secondary characters.
Get the Kleenex out because you might need it. I sure did while reading this book. Brody’s world is turned upside down when he loses his partner and best friend in the line of duty. Cooper must return home when he learns of his father’s death to help with his family. Brody and Cooper develop a friendship that turns into something more. The connection between Brody and Cooper is amazing. The perfect age gap in my opinion. Plus you also get my father’s best friend in the mix too. It was a little bit of a slow burn between Brody and Cooper, which hit the spot for me. I do enjoy that from time to time. When I picked up this book to read, I was totally caught off guard with the emotions that I felt while reading it. The “Last Radio Call” left me a total mess but in the best of ways. Annabella Michaels is an amazing storyteller and I’m always floored with each book of hers that I read. I loved the fact that there wasn’t the usual angst over Brody and Cooper being together that there usually is sometimes. I found it refreshing. While there is some angst reading this book, and it may not be for everyone, I totally loved this book and recommend giving it a try.
Healing can take many forms!
Wow! Exactly! What a start! Ripped my heart immediately! I had to mentally prepare myself before I started this journey, I knew it would be devastating, as losing someone you love usually is! It is breaking my heart to read this part of the story, and in only a few chapters in.
Brody and Cooper, bound by tragedy, bound by family! Healing takes a lot from a person, it can bring you to your knees, can cripple you even, but with family to support you, it can be hard at first but eventually you will get there. This story tells us how to heal, how to move on with our lives after a tragic situation, because that is what our loved ones would want for us.
This story has brought so many feelings with it, I absolutely adored how Ms. Annabella Michaels went through every aspect of the story, especially how each member of the family tried to heal; although it broke my heart several times over! I can feel the loss of both Brody and Cooper, I can literally hear my heart breaking whenever they go through any remembrance of their loved one.
Congratulations Ms. Annabella Michaels, once again you have shown us the beauty of love and family!
