Who is threatening the Duchess, and WHY?
The trope of the young house servant falling for the Duke’s son has an interesting twist in this well-written romance—threats to the Marquess‘ s Mother propel the household into battle mode, and a search for the person responsible. Well thought out storyline, good character development, and multiple mysteries surface to pull the reader into the story and take them to the end. There is at least one character whose mystery remains, leading me to hope he will appear in a future book. A clean Regency Romance that readers of all ages will enjoy.

Have you ever pulled out your favorite recipe, made it and ate till your hearts content knowing the recipe came out the way you wanted it and it tasted so good you could not get enough of it? Well this story is just like that. The ingredients of this story unrequited love, dark secrets, revenge and the revealing of confusing truths come together that you cannot put this book down. You must turn page after page and read till the end. There are surprises and shocks. The story takes you through twists and turns and has you guessing the entire time and ends on a satisfying note. I especially liked the fact that the H/h were mature, kind and wise adults full of love and compassion. Their actions were extremely realistic as was the rest of the characters. This is a must read. You will not be disappointed.
Josephine Murton had been in service of the Hadley family and smirk. She had loved Frederick the Duke of Chescrown’ S son whom she had been in love with all her life. The two grow up together as children and were very close until Frederick’s grandfather died and he became the Marquess of Pentford and he decided that he could no longer be close to Josephine, invoking the fact that she was a maid and he was a nobleman. Then letters begin to show up sent to his mother threatening her if she didn’t tell somebody something and she wouldn’t tell anybody what the letters were about. Frederick had poachers on his property that had already killed seven dear and he needed to catch them for taking his dear without his permission he thought he had them caught there were three gutting a deer they came upon them pointed their guns Adam and told him to stop what they were doing and they just kept on doing it then one of them turned Lieut. turned around and motioned to the other two to turn around and there were three men behind him with pistols pointing at their backs needless to say they didn’t do anything. This was when Frederick found out about the letters to his mother and she became hysterical every time anyone ask her about that he had to go back and take care of this poaching business which made his father a little angry. To find out what he did with the poachers how he caught them, did Josephine discovered a new love, to see if Josephine survived an accident and illness you have to read the rest of the book. It’s a good book…
Wow, this is a good one! It kept me up reading late every night. I had to find out what the secret was and who was threatening them! Josephine and Frederick’s story is one of friendship, love, intrigue, family, and honor. Josephine, the daughter of a maid, is now also a maid in the household of Frederick, the Marquess. They have been friends since birth, but their stations keep them from admitting their true love for each other. Or at least Fredrick’s stubborn honor does. There is also a threat to the Duchess, Frederick’s mother. What is the secret she holds and who is threatening her life?
The descriptions of characters and settings was wonderful. I felt like I was there as the story unfolded. I especially liked the extended epilogues with a glimpse into their futures. Well done, Emma Linfield!
