Wow. OMG wow. This book was just brilliant. Will the six become eight or perhaps even more? Cassidy is a singer with her own band. Finn is from Guardin and a fae prince. When they meet and touch, sparks fly. Literally. What does it mean? And what evil is Niamh going to bring down on them all. Absolutely brilliant with a very satisfying ending. I will read ANYTHING this author puts out. Nothing she writes ever disappoints.
Red Dawn Rising was at the top of my must-read books for the second half of 2019. I was anticipating this book. I had so many questions from the previous books, and I was hoping that they would be answered in this one. Oh, boy, were they!!
The plotline of Red Dawn Rising was fast paced and engaging. It answered every single question that I had from the previous books, including who Finn was. There was zero lagging of the plot and no dropped storylines. I loved it!!!
Finn’s backstory was heartbreaking and surprising. I would have never figured out that he was a Fae prince. I also wouldn’t have figured out that he was Niamh’s nephew. Which made what happened at the beginning of the book even more heartbreaking. I loved how patient he was with Cassidy (she wasn’t easy to deal with). I loved him.
I wasn’t a fan of Cassidy for a considerable part of the book. Something about her rubbed me the wrong way. She left a bad taste in my mouth during the first few chapters of the book. She kept denying what was right in front of her face. Until she came face to face with Sloan. After that, she became more likable but still. I wanted to shake her and say, “Listen, girlfriend, these people have been through stuff and know things. Listen to them.” By the end of the book, though, she came through. More than came through!!
Finn and Cassidy had intense sexual chemistry and attraction. The author kept them at such a high-level of sexual attraction/chemistry that I was almost expecting them to combust when they finally had sex. Then she amped it back up. I loved that she made them wait until halfway through the book to have intercourse. The reason why it was interesting. Finn and Cassidy were melded. Let’s say that it was intense and magical. Of course, Niamh feels it, and of course, she sends out her assassin to deal with it.
Naimh was someone that I wouldn’t mess with in real life. She was scary. I mean, she killed her FAMILY because she felt that she was the rightful ruler. She was unhinged by the end of the book. I did feel bad that things had to go down the way they did. But it was the only way to stop her. She was insane.
The end of Red Dawn Rising was intense. The whole battle scene with Niamh was intense. It had me on the edge of my seat the entire time I was reading it. There was a death that I didn’t see coming. Talking about breaking my heart!! The epilogue was bittersweet. But it was fitting for the series.

Red Dawn Rising by Margaret Watson
The Four #4
The storm was upon them.
Three corners of the square were completed.
Three couples joined together.
Fire and water.
Magic and sorcery.
Spells and wizardry.
The six, joined together, were formidable.
They defeated a powerful wickedness.
They thought they had won.
They relaxed their vigilance.
But Evil was watching.
Smiling at their ignorance.
Waiting for her opportunity.
Terrific conclusion to this paranormal romantic suspense series!
In each book some of the people that make up the four necessary corners required to thwart an evil fae are met, two (one male and one female) are sent on a quest they succeed in and in the process meet their mate. The eventual eight, and a few more, have special abilities which come in handy as the story unfolds. The evil is indeed worth fighting and the end of each story does provide a HEA to the main couple. In this book we learn more about the beginning and source of the evil that is being fought.
Cassidy Drake, musician, has a talent that will lead to success but when her mother is attacked everything is put on hold. While she is at the hospital she meets Finn Brody who steps in to help out and though she is leery she begins to trust him. One touch and they both realize there is more to their meeting than they first thought…colorful sparks fly and that is not all. As the story unfolds Cassidy learns more about her mother but also about family members she did not know she had. Finn and Cassidy must work together and with the other three couples to make sure the world is safe.
What I liked:
* Cassidy: she was talented, smart, resilient, warm, caring and feisty
* Finn: though a bit conflicted…wise, warm, strong and loving
* The way the book tied everything together
* That evil was thwarted
What I didn’t like:
* Exactly what I was not supposed to like…there were some baddies and I was thrilled they were handily dealt with in the end.
Did I like this book/series? Yes
Would I read more by this author? Definitely.
Thank you to the author for the ARC – This is my honest review.
5 Stars
The exciting conclusion to this series by Ms. Watson. Cassidy Drake has no idea that she is Fae, the daughter of a Witch and a twin. Up to this point, Cassidy has concentrated on her mother, her music and the success of her band. When her mother is attacked, she has no idea of the evil that has targeted them. Finn Brody, former SEAL and member of the Fae, has found Cassidy…the missing twin. Cassidy has no idea of her power and the evil Fae Queen who must be stopped before she kills “The Four”. Although there is a definite paranormal element to the stories, they are wonderful romantic suspense stories with characters that find love in the most unusual way. I would definitely recommend reading the first three books as not only are they great reads, but provide so much of the back story of the group as well as the exciting lead to the final chapter in the lives of “The Four”. An excellent paranormal twist on love, romance, suspense and danger by Ms. Watson. I received an advance review copy at no cost and without obligation from the author. (by paytonpuppy)
Cassidy Drake has denied her true self all her life until the night her mom is attacked. Finn Brody is searching for Sloan’s twin but finds so much more. Cassidy and Finn reluctantly form an alliance in order to ultimately prepare for the final contest to protect the human and fae worlds. But will they be strong enough to succeed and at what cost?
This is a heart-wrenching end to this exciting tale, filled with emotional twists and turns, drama and steamy passion. The storyline is absorbing and fascinating, and the action is fast-paced, lethal, and will keep you on the edge of your seat from beginning to end. It’s an intriguing finale to a most amazing series. I highly recommend this very captivating and engaging paranormal romantic suspense story and series!
