SONATA is the third and final book in the explosive trilogy with Samantha Brooks and Liam North. It should be read after OVERTURE and CONCERTO.

This book was in part melancholic and part euphoric and altogether gripping. It was a real page turner and I could not put it down. The tables seem to have turned and it is now Samantha who is the one driving the relationship, Liam has no faith in his worth and blames himself for everything bad that has happened to his brothers and Samantha. We learn about his terrible childhood and understand him so much better but want him to, forgive himself. Samantha is able to penetrate his armour and they do indeed get their happy ever after. Josh and Bethany’s relationship also begins to unfold and their story is next. However, I was a little perplexed that there was no “ending” to the suspense, no denouement if you will just more questions about who is after Samantha and why.
Book 3 in the series – you MUST read books 1 & 2 first!
This final instalment gave me everything I wanted for Liam and Samantha’s story. Plenty of suspense and the chemistry was out of control. I loved the dynamic between the two and the ending made VERY VERY happy!!! I have to say I’m looking forward to Josh’s book.
If you’re looking for a well thought out romantic suspense series with that added dash of older man, younger woman this one’s for you. Definitely recommend.
What an ending pure perfection in every word the passion and give and take is incredible I loved the push and pull and the intensity that comes along with these two, they have you on the edge of your seat holding your breath that is pure possessiveness and god the feelings the emotions between Liam and Samantha are so real, Liams every thought, his actions I loved how expressive he was they just jump off the page as we see Samantha becomes the woman she needs to be. So well written I couldn’t get enough I loved it.
The third and final book in the trilogy that surrounds Samantha Brooks and Liam North is finally here in Sky Warren’s latest release Sonata. As always Warren shows the ability to capture the readers attention with her incredible writing. With heart break and betrayal spread through the pages of this series you can’t help but be drawn in. Wonderfully beautiful characters that are full of so much emotion that the reader is compelled to feel right along with them. I was a disappointed that the ending was a little anticlimactic and some questions were not answered, but I would not pass up reading this book or recommending it. 5-stars for Sonata and I just can’t wait for the next story, Audition that will tell Bethany and Joshua’s story.
Liam North swore he would do what ever it took to protect Samantha Brooks when he took her out of a Russian orphanage and brought her to live on the North Securities compound. Now years later the violin prodigy is a grown woman that is in love with her former guardian and he loves her back, but his past demons won’t let them be together. Recovering from a bullet to the chest, Liam and Samantha are on the run from Samantha’s thought to be dead father and the men he works for. Liam knows that the only true way to keep Samantha safe is to use her as bait to draw out the criminals that want her dead. The problem with the plan is that Samantha hasn’t picked up her violin in the many months since the shooting, the shooting where the bullet was meant for her but hit Liam. They both carry guilt and regret but now they must uncover the plot to kill her and try to live another day so that she can once again play another beautiful Sonata.
One gunshot wound, one prison that’s not a prison, and life isnt full of roses for them.
Hiding in plain sight until it’s time.. time to face life, time to face the world.. time to face the music.
This is the final book in the Trilogy and you do need to read them in the right order Overture, concerto and then this.
Liam and Samantha provide more angst, and denial. Submission and admission along with suspence action and drama.
A strong bond walking the tightrope of definition.
I must admit the ending of this has shaken me a little, left me unsure and full of questions, it felt a little rushed, a bit of an anti climax after everything they went through.
I was expecting everything to be answered and cleaned up neatly and to me that wasnt the case.
Still worthy of four stars, with or without the ending I craved.
Will be interesting to read Josh’s book when it comes out and explore his mind.
They are in hiding! Samantha has abandoned playing the violin to take care of Liam. Hiding is the best way for them to regroup and allow time for Liam’s injuries to heal. No easy task there, as he is always doing more than he should and his wound keeps reopening.
As far as Samantha is concerned, he should finally face the fact that he loves her and forget about everything else. This back and forth is driving her crazy. The more she learns about his past, the more she falls for him. She also realizes he never had anyone really care about him , so how could he know what love is like?
Danger still follows them. One final stand is all they need to flush out those who are looking to murder Samantha. Secrets must be revealed. They are all about to be exposed to the murderers and hopefully they will be able to stop them once and for all!.
I am voluntarily reviewing this book. Thanks to the author for sharing a copy with me.
I can’t remember the last instalment of a trilogy making me feel so anxious in a long while. But that’s Warren for you; she a master at winding her readers up in the best possible way. She got me ridiculously hooked from the very first line in Overture and wasn’t going to let me off it until the last page was turned in Sonata. What a read and what a send-off, ladies! Fast-paced, intriguing characters and a storyline like no other kept me guessing what the next pivotal moment would be. In every book the author sowed seeds of doubt and I blinking well loved it. And the narrative isn’t just compelling, it’s mind-blowing.
‘Only when I see her can I breathe again.’
When Samantha Brookes was able to take control of her life and prove she was capable of living without the security Liam North had given her since childhood, she flew the nest. No longer her legal guardian, Liam’s feelings for his ward cause unrest. He’d watched her grow into a beautiful young woman but deep down, Samantha’s heart is tied to his like the strings on the violin she plays are tied to its wooden bridge. After a close call, there’s no option but to learn what the true definition of sacrifice really means.
‘I’ve always been at the mercy of men.’
Liam put his life on the line for Samantha and would do it again if necessary. Nothing will stop him from keeping her safe. His sole objective is getting to the bottom of it all which I might add, had me sitting on the edge of my seat. Clues there are. Help and unquestionable loyalty from the team—his brothers, he has. It’s just putting the pieces together. Liam. Goodness me, I thought I’d fallen for him in the previous books. Nope, now he owns my heart lock, stock and barrel.
‘I’m fighting a formless enemy—the past.’
I felt strongly about Liam not being happy with Samantha. I thought his attitude unfair, seeing that the choice was hers to make and I, personally, would have done exactly the same. I’m convinced it upset him more because he had no say in the matter. One of Warren’s writing talents is how she conveys her characters’ emotional swings that the reader can easily discern.
‘She’s beauty in a world of violence. Without music, there’s no point fighting a war.’
Another thing I really liked after what had happened was their lives took a one hundred and eighty-degree turn. Liam gradually opens up to Samantha. She’s a good listener, knows when to hold her tongue and so very perceptive. Get your tissues ready here gals, it is heartbreaking.
She’d stopped practising her instrument daily for a comprehensible reason until, of course, something convinces her otherwise. Yeap, the Samantha I knew before the tragedy has now come into her own, is stronger and ready to face the music come what may.
‘Love isn’t a weakness, Liam. Look at me. I’m strong because of you…’
Ooh my, the chemistry accelerates to allegro, pitching a harmonic cadence like no other. Decadently written in its utter perfection, I was more than ready for them to move forward; for Liam to break down that moral barrier he’d built so high and give in to his true feelings.
“I’m tired of being your punishment, Liam North. Make me something else. Show me what it would be like if you took what you wanted, no guilt, no regrets. If you did anything to me. No restraint.”
Loved, loved, loved Josh and Bethany’s unexpected and shortish account. His sarcasm was most welcome and ooh boy, has he got a dirty mind or what! Hers is a real eye-opener and I can’t tell you how happy I am that they’ll be getting their own book towards the end of October.
I devoured this novel in record time and then ran to my pc at daft o’clock to write down my raging thoughts. The conclusion to the North Security Series came to its crescendo ending, leaving my heart singing. Warren’s delivered a unique masterpiece. Angst-ridden drama evoking all the feels and scene after gripping scene had me rereading the passages. The musical trivia at the beginning of each chapter not only did I find fascinating, but also highlighted the immaculate research done for the entire trilogy. Warren’s style cannot be ignored and I can’t thank her enough for giving me abounding reading pleasure. Bravo!
I don’t want it to end
Have you ever read a book or series you love so much you don’t want it to end, you read it deliberetly slow just to prolong but end up finishing it in one sitting because they won’t let you go?
That’s Liam and Samantha’s story does to me
Five star for this trilogy! I can’t wait to read Bethany and Josh’s story, but Liam and Samantha definitly won’t be forgotten. Amazing and brilliant and full of passion story telling, I applause you Ms. Skye Warren
