Lady Catherine Connelly is a girl different from the others: courageous, confident, assertive. But not even the ones closest to her would ever call her a conventional beauty; a title she wouldn’t crave either way. All until the pressure of Society and her parents will imperatively start demanding that she compromises with the standards a typical debutant of her age should follow. Soon enough she … she finds herself trapped, away from London, with an obstinate aunt, aching for the comforts of home. How will things evolve, though, when she comes back, totally transformed?
Oliver Garrison has experienced unique moments alongside Catherine, as her brothers’ best friend. When she leaves London without letting him know, the only way they could communicate with each other are the countless letters they exchange. But when she returns, there is something changed in her… How will he deal with feelings of jealousy when his childhood friend will now be approached by every eligible bachelor, even by a despicable Duke? Will he dare to even risk his reputation in order to save her from the prison of her beauty?
Catherine finds herself in the midst of a budding war, unsure of how she should proceed. Should she uphold her parents’ wishes and marry for title and position? Or should she listen to Oliver’s advice to ignore other people’s opinion and just follow her heart?

A fascinating read!
A fascinating read from start to finish awaits you in Ms. Agar’s book. I loved the Connelly family. Catherine and Oliver’s friends and neighbors were amazing characters and I loved how the author showed their growth into adulthood. Catherine’s mother may have been upset that her daughter was 23 and did not fit, but fate had something planned for her. I adored the book it was a lovely read and I highly recommend it.
Lady Catherine Connelly grew up playing in following her three brothers Marcus Thomas and Peter and Thomas is best friend Oliver Garrison. During the summer whatever the boys did Catherine did too. When she grew up was not conventional beauty she didn’t know how to act like a lady she did know how to flirt to get along with women she found herself trapped in London. Oliver had been her protector all of her life and she thought her brothers and Oliver would simply go along is that always got along. Then her youngest brother Peter got engaged her next youngest brother Thomas was courting the young lady and who knew when Marcus was going to fall in love she pulled one stunt too many and her parents sent her to live with her mother sister her aunt Teresa. Now to discover what happens in Bristow were her aunt recently of and what happens when she finally gets to come back to London you have to read the book. It’s a good book…
Ms. Abigail Agar took a Regency period story in a unique and different direction. The Connelly family siblings were fascinating, agreeable, affable and personable. There was Marcus, Thomas, Peter then Catherine and Thomas’ best friend and neighbor Oliver Garrison. From the time Catherine could walk she would follow her brothers around wanting to join in their fun. Most of the time her nanny had her cooped up in the house training her to be a lady. But there were times that she would escape and join the boys. There were times when the boys would set up a ruse to get the nanny out of the way so they could break Catherine out of the house. All the fun times they had. There was always a special bond between Catherine and Oliver. The author did an excellent job describing the way the group matured. Catherine just wanted to be accepted for herself. She was not talented in the female arts to her mother’s dismay. Now at twenty and three, Catherine was still unmarried and did not fit into society. After an unfortunate public embarrassing display, Catherine’s parent had had enough and shipped her off to her mother’s older sister’s home for etiquette training in the female arts. At first Catherine was sure her Aunt Theresa and her would never get along. However, after an outing for a poetry reading things definitely changed between them. For the first time with her aunt’s help Catherine started to understand how to stay true to herself and still behave like a lady. Aunt Theresa had such a positive influence on Catherine that when it was time for Catherine to return home, she wanted to stay with her aunt. When Catherine returned home, everyone took notice of the positive changes that Catherine had gone through. Some people could not believe their eyes that she was the same tomboy changed into a lady. There was this duke who had his eye on Oliver’s sister and Catherine. That was a volatile situation between Margery, Catherine and Oliver. This is an excellent story. Full of fun, humor, love and loyalty. This is a must read. You will not be disappointed. I loved the way the story ended and then the extended epilogue really pulled all the loose ends together nicely. I highly recommend this book.
This clean Regency romance is very different from any other I have read. Catherine is a complete tomboy who runs with her brothers and a friend every chance she can get. Growing up as a lady just isn’t in her future.
I thoroughly enjoyed every page!
ONE FANTASTIC EXPERIENCE!!!
Man! Talk about a gripping experience! One skillfully laid storyline with an thrilling plot that rocks this jewel from the git-go. Abigail really brought out the big guns in this tough as nails, on point realism that spins so intense, bursting with emotions bringing this gripping tale to life perfectly. The tension is thick, the heartbreak justifiable and the danger is skyrocketing. Twists and turns, ups and downs, along with a few bumps and bruises bring this baby together flawlessly. The characters are authentic, relatable and so realistic with depth and qualities its easy to get swept away. The scenes are so graphically detailed and descriptive it paints a wonderful backdrop that gives the illusion your right there in the middle of ground zero with them. Fantastic job Abigail, thanks for sharing this little jewel with us.
