I absolutely loved, loved, loved Better Than Me, book two in Kimberly Kincaid’s Remington Medical series. This amazing story features best friends who become lovers while they accidentally become temporary roommates is a magical, moving and emotional story that pulls out all the stops for Natalie and Jonah finding love together. Jonah and Natalie are both surgeons, she with the kids in pediatrics, he with the adults at the same Remington Hospital. Handsome and sexy Jonah was determined to stay single, believing that love was just not for him. Natalie although being best friends with Jonah, was the only female known to be immune to his panty-melting charm and good looks. After a freak accident occurred in her apartment, Natalie needed a place to stay and ended up sleeping on Jonah’s futon. As these two spend time together in the close quarters of Jonah’s apartment they begin to open up, sharing their deepest, darkest secrets. Secrets you would never expect from either of them. Helping as well as being there each other, pushes them to be each other’s cheerleader, encouraging the other that they can do or be what they need. They are stronger than they give themselves credit. One major problem occurs after a sizzling hot, no strings attached night of giving each other pure, sexual pleasure. However, what started as only one night, turned into more nights, then a friends with benefits arrangement, which as it continued, found Jonah and Natalie falling for one another. As Jonah and Natalie find themselves faced with unexpected and life threatening problems, their love and feelings are tested, forcing them to find their inner strength before those obstacles break their spirit. Making grand gestures and stepping out of their comfort zones will definitely define whether or not their love will endure.
Ms. Kincaid provided an emotional tale rich with sexual chemistry, amusing banter, strong connections with family and friends as well as endearing characters; providing Jonah and Natalie a chance at everlasting love. Warning, you might need to keep tissues nearby while reading. I highly recommend Better Than Me to other readers and look forward to the next book, and couple, in this series.
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.
Kimberly Kincaid is a new author to me and I have to say after reading Better Than Me I’m amazed she hasn’t crossed my radar before now and I will certainly be going back to read book 1 in this series as well as other books by this very talented author. This may be book 2 in the Remington Medical but I’m proof this book can be read and enjoyed as a stand-alone.
Dr Jonah Sheridan and Dr Natalie Kendrick work together and are friends and when Natalie needs a place to stay while her flat is being repaired the obvious choice is to crash on Jonah’s futon problem is neither of them realise how their life’s will change when they spend so much time under the same roof……
A stand-alone with no cliffhanger set in the world of hospital drama namely Remington Medical, a friends to lovers romance with so much more, a story that will captivate you. I loved the characters, I loved the plot and I can’t wait to read more from this author because I love her style of writing.
This is a good friends to lovers book with a few twists involved! All I could do was laugh at Natalie’s luck! The underlying level of comedy in this storyline was so worth it! Jonah is Natalie’s best friend but wasn’t necessarily willing to help her when she becomes homeless after a freak accident. She somewhat inserts herself into his personal space, and the chemistry starts to grow from there. I really felt for Natalie and her past and how it paralleled to the patient she was working with. The more time Jonah and Natalie spent outside of work and in his personal space, the more chemistry that developed and the more they fought it. When they both find out things about each other that nobody else knows, they develop more than a friendship and I was totally rooting for them! When Natalie’s past threatens to ruin what they’ve started, the question is how both of them will handle it and if they will make it out together. Overall, this was a good read with a HEA that we all needed.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
As a huge fan of Grey’s Anatomy, I loved this book! I felt like I was reading a book version of the show. The hustle and bustle of the life of a surgeon was beautifully displayed as well as the emotional attachments of Natalie along with the cast of doctors and nurses that she works with. Natalie and Jonah’s story is different yet has a hint of a cliche. It’s different because of Natalie’s sheltered background–at first, I really struggled with the fact that she was a 32 year old virgin but her rationale did make a tiny bit of sense even if I felt that it was a bit far fetched. It’s a complete cliche that Jonah is a player and that the quintessential player falls in love with the virgin who by no fault of her own becomes his temporary roommate. A sweet friends to lovers romance complete with a swoony worthy book boyfriends and comic relief in the form of Connor.
Although speaking of Connor, I struggled a bit with the epilogue changing to his POV. It is a terrific lead in to his book which I presume is the next book in the series, but I wanted to hear more from Jonah especially in light of what Natalie was enduring. How is she coping? How is she surviving both physically and mentally? Connor’s POV the reader on gets a fraction of it. The epilogue is more Connor focused.
5 Star Review of Better Than Me (Remington Medical #2) by Kimberly Kincaid
Kimberly Kincaid is a new author to me and I have absolutely no idea why that is. This story had me engaged from the first chapter until the last, in fact I couldn’t put it down.
This is a friends to lovers story featuring Dr. Jonah Sheridan (a.k.a. The Orgasm Whisperer,) and his best friend, Dr. Natalie Kendrick.
When Jonah comes to the rescue of Natalie and allows her to stay at his apartment, he has no idea how his life is about to change. Even though Natalie is immune to Jonah’s charms, he is not as immune to hers which makes for major complications in their friendship.
Forced to live in one another pockets the chemistry between them builds despite them both trying to deny it. The fact that Natalie is off limits to Jonah just adds to the intensity of his feelings. The genuine friendship between them was sweet and as it morphs into love it was interesting to watch them both struggle to get a handle on their feelings.
Jonah is smoking hot and has a brashness about him that I really enjoyed; Natalie is a perfect counter to him with her sweet and generous nature.
There was plenty of humour, chemistry and emotions that made this story one heck of a read and the secondary characters were also well written and interesting. This may be my first book by this author, but it won’t be my last..
One click on release, you won’t be disappointed.
You will not be able to put this friends to lovers romance down once you start it. What starts with a apartment renter’s nightmare ends up being the perfect timing for Natalie when she is forced to spend a few weeks on her best friend’s couch. A best friend who just happens to be a sexy alpha-male and also a top notch surgeon. So while the two friends think that living together and working together will not change how they feel, a simple spark brings out beautifully written chemistry. Once a line is crossed the result is heart warming. But of course new love also has some bumps in the road and when an unexpected diagnosis happens will the two be strong enough to get through it together? With lovable characters and a storyline that had me hooked from the opening pages this book was a great read that I highly recommend.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. This is a beautiful story of Natalie a pediatric surgeon and best friend Jonah a trauma surgeon now roommates after her apartment damage and there many challenges.Awesome
**4-4.5 stars** I love reading the friends-to-lovers genre and if it’s written by Kimberly Kincaid, even better!
Jonah Sheridan, a trauma surgeon and Natalie Kendrick, a pediatric surgeon at Remington Medical have been best friends for years. When Natalie’s downstairs apartment is damaged from an upstairs apartment’s bathtub falling through her ceiling, she moves in temporarily at Jonah’s place until repairs can be made.
Jonah is known for his wild ways and “no relationships” policy and even having his best friend stay at his place is big deal, since he isn’t used to sharing his space. As the two spend more time together though, things go from “just friends” to more, even if both are trying to keep things casual.
I loved the growing relationship between Jonah and Natalie. They both have personal things they’re dealing with in their lives, but the support they give each other was wonderful to read about.
Sexy (as always with Kimberly’s books!), sweet, emotional, and heartfelt. Be sure to put this one on your TBR!
While it’s the 2nd book in the series, it can be read as a standalone.
So looking forward to the next book in the Remington Medical series!
Better Than Me was a delight to read and Natalie and Jonah were true book heros that melted my heart. A trauma surgeon and a pediatric attending both working at Remington Memorial. Two friends who work tirelessly to save lives, which is already endearing, but when Natalie and Jonah eventually fall for each other in the loveliest way possible, I couldn’t help but love each of them even more.
Natalie’s apartment is damaged when a bathtub comes crashing down from the second floor to the first floor, making her home uninhabitable until it is fixed. With no where else to turn, her best friend, Jonah (her commitment-phobe-doesn’t-even-allow-one-night-stands-to-spend-the-night-friend) concedes to Natalie’s desperate situation and she becomes his new roommate. Against his better judgement he offers up his futon to his best friend, knowing it’s only short term. That is until he sees her lacy lingerie, not once in all the years he’s known her did he think about her satin or lace, or what Natalie was wearing under her scrubs. Soon all Jonah can think about is what she’s not wearing under her scrubs, how soft her skin might feel, and how she’d taste. He is in more trouble than he originally thought and six weeks until her apartment is finished won’t come soon enough. He can’t jeopardize his friendship with Natalie she knows him better than anyone and he can’t lose that over thinking about her sexy panties.
Natalie and Jonah are best friends and she really appreciates crashing on his futon for the next several weeks. Even better, she feels that they are growing closer since she’s moved in. They are able to talk about cases on their down time, they drive into work together when they work the same shift, and Jonah actually comes with her when she volunteers at the clinic. He probably has better things to do, but she will take his help and enjoys the extra time with him. He has always been a great guy and their friendship is stronger than ever, which leads her to thinking about asking him to help her in another avenue that has been plaguing her for quite some time. Jonah might be perfect for helping her out of an awkward situation, but can they still be best friends when all is said and done?
Kimberly Kincaid was a new author for me and the Remington Memorial world is filled with wonderful secondary characters I look forward to revisiting again.
#friendstolovers, #remingtonseries, #amazingwriter, #sensational This was an anticipated read for me, so much so I set up a timer on my phone! I am happy to say I was not disappointed, not that I ever thought I would be. Kimberly wrote a phenomenal friends to lovers book and I am super excited to read more to come in this series. Jonah and Natalie drew me in in the first book Back to You, they were such great friends and I wanted to know more. You find out secrets even the friends didn’t know about each other. This helps you feel as though you are living the day to day right along with them, the relationship growing before your eyes. I can not say enough about this fantastic book! Please, please go pre-order now so that on May 7th you can start reading! ***I was given an ARC copy for an honest review***
I absolutely loved this book! Natalie and Jonah are so great together both in friendship and in love. This story was both sweet and sexy. Each one is struggling with their own issues, but they figure out sometimes it is better with someone else to go through them with. You will not be disappointed with this book, or anything Kimberly Kincaid writes.
New book boyfriend…CHECK! Dr. Jonah Sheridan…swoon!!!
Better Than Me, written by one of my very favorite authors, Kimberly Kincaid, gave me all the feels! My heart…oh my poor heart!!! This story made me laugh, smile, love, cry…I HAD TEARS!!! I stayed up way too late and didn’t regret it the next day…not one bit!
Dr. Natalie Kendrick never would have expected to be displaced by her upstairs neighbor’s bathtub falling through her ceiling. Natalie’s best friend, Dr. Jonah Sheridan, Mr. “Orgasm Whisperer”, Mr. One-Night-Stand, Mr. I-Have-Never-Brought-A-Woman-Back-To-My-Apartment (you get the point…right?) never expected to be approached to share his apartment with anyone…especially not someone whose wardrobe consists of lace bras and panties. There. Is. No. Way. Even if it is for only six weeks or so. Especially not a virgin who believes in long lasting relationships and marriage based on love. Especially not someone who watched When Harry Met Sally more than a handful of times. Nope. Not. Happening…
“I believe in the kind of love where you give the other person the last bite of cheesecake without thinking twice…”
Dr. Kendrick is sidetracked from her temporary housing situation by a young patient whose cancer is being ruthless. She can personally relate to her struggles, but since Natalie is 18 years in the clear, she can focus on Annabelle.
The characters in Better Than Me are a continuation from book 1 (Back to You) in the Remington Medical Series…and they are AMAZING! I love the banter, the friendships, and the relationships that have formed at the hospital. I love the visual descriptions author Kimberly Kincaid has written of the scenery! The storyline gave me insight into the lives of patients as well as the medical field that I had never seen firsthand. I am already chomping at the bit for the next book in the series…Between You & I.
You had me at orgasm whisperer. Oh my gravy, I’ve been waiting for Jonah and Natalie’s story and I was not disappointed. Now I am not going to be giving away any plotlines to ruin the fun for the rest of the world. But, let me tell you, it is everything I was hoping for and then some.
Jonah and Natalie are best friends and co-workers, who are each kick ass doctors in their own rights. Jonah has quite the reputation around the old water cooler as a ladies man. Natalie will neither confirm nor deny this rumor as being the case. All she knows is he is her best friend and she would have his back to the death.
You must, MUST, grab your copy of this novel asap, you absolutely will not be sorry. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advance reader copy, all opinions expressed are my own.
This is second book in Remington Medical series.
This book is about Jonah and Natalie. This book is awesome. Wonderful story, beautifully written.
You will laugh, you will cry.
LOVED IT.
We are back in Remington Medical with another wonderful story. This time, we get to spend our time with Jonah Sheridan and Natalie Kendrick. Both well respected physician’s at Remington Med and best friends.
When Natalie’s apartment is damage by a bathtub, yes, a bathtub, she ends up staying with Jonah. A man that has been hurt deeply. One who’s loved ones seem to always leave him.
As time goes on , they go from friends to those with benefits.
As entertaining and engaging that the plot was, it’s the interactions between Natalie, and Jonah, as well as between their friends that makes this story. All complex individuals with a history that makes them come alive. The story is also a reminder that our experiences as children and how our parents behave , do in fact affect us as adults. For better or worse.
It’s a sweet, and touching story . You will at times laugh, at others, tissues are required. In the end, will Natalie and Jonah find their HEA or will fears and love keep them apart?
Another winner by this talented author . I can’t wait to see what else is in store for us in this series.
I was entrusted a copy of this book. The opinions expressed are solely my own.
OMG, I literally could not put this book down. I truly enjoy all of Kimberly Kincaid’s books, but Jonah and Natalie have stolen the spot as my favorites,
Jonah, who is sexy as hell, (that’s how I picture him) and has lots of snarky comebacks to his peers and his best friend, Natalie. And Natalie, with her sweet and generous spirit, is just adorable and you can’t help but cheer for her to get her HEA.
This story literally has it all….. wit, humor, laughter, angst, and plenty of sexy-time.
Truly a best friends to lovers romance. Jonah and Natalie go through it all along with their best buddies from Remington Memorial. The storyline catches you up on a few characters from Back to You, but not in enough detail to take away from Nat and Jonah’s romance. They remain front and center in this story.
This book is insanely good! Jonah Sheridan and Natalie Kendrick have been best friends for years. The playboy trauma surgeon and the sunny pediatric surgeon have a fantastic, platonic relationship. Then Nat desperately needs a place to stay and Jonah reluctantly agrees to become roommates and suddenly everything changes.
I wish I could give this more than five stars!! Jonah is my favorite kind of book boyfriend: gorgeous, sexy, cocky and when he finally falls, you know he will fall hard. Natalie blew me away, sweet and kind but oh so strong. I loved that they started out as best friends and turned into so much more!
The attraction between these two is oh-so-hot but there were so many sweet, swoony moments too. Add in some funny banter, the Remington Memorial staff, plus some surprising twists and Better Than Me is one of the best books I have read in a long time.
