Welcome to Book One in the fabulous new Book of Love series. A dingy old book tucked away in an old Regency London bookshop holds magic and love for those who use the ‘recipes’!When Lady Olivia Gosling finds The Book of Love in a musty bookshop, she is most eager to try out its love “recipes” on someone safe. Did she say safe?Well, Beast isn’t really safe, but with her odious guardian about to … safe, but with her odious guardian about to marry her off to one of his unsavory friends, Olivia needs her childhood friend to fall in love with her… fast. If Beast can love her, then any man she chooses will surely do the same.
Alexander Beastling, Duke of Hartford, is known as Beast among the ton. He is big and muscled, and there is a dark aura of mystery about him that he makes no effort to dispel. Now that he’s returned from battle, he’s appalled to learn of the marriage plans Lady Olivia’s loathsome guardian has for her. Beast has decided that he will help her find a proper husband, even if it means putting up with her ridiculous experiments taken out of a book she refers to as The Book of Love. Olivia calls them magical recipes for love.
Is it possible they actually work? Because suddenly, Beast can’t seem to get Olivia out of his mind… or his heart.

A magical book that leads its readers to find the scientific meaning of, and path to love. When Lady Olivia (Goose) finds the book and needs to experiment on a ‘frog’ her only choice is long time friend (and secret love) is the Duke of Hartford (Beast). Even if she can’t have him for herself, he’s the only man she trusts to learn from the book and test the information it contains. Well, you know where this leads. Beast begins to see Goose in a new light and romance and farce embarks. I’ve bought the whole series and just can’t get enough. I recommend that you start in order with this book and just keep reading. You won’t be disappointed.
Nice read.
I have enjoyed the entire series so far.
This was one of my favorite book that I have read during Covid. I really enjoyed the characters and it held my attention until the end!
Not quite realistic or amusing.
In this day of being housebound with covid this book is a joy. I laughed out load several times. Loved the ladies studying the book and them men not aware of what was happening to them. What a fun read!
Enjoyed the book, read it in one sitting.
Loved it.
Lady Olivia Gosling finds The Book of Love in a musty bookshop, and she is eager to try out its love recipes on someone safe. Her odious guardian about to marry her off to one of his unsavory friends, Olivia needs her childhood friend to fall in love with her. The friend, Alexander “Beast” Beastling really is not safe. Beast decides he will help Olivia find a proper husband even if it means putting up with her ridiculous experiments taken out of the book she found. Perhaps they work because Beast cannot seem to get Olivia out of his mind or heart. – This is sweet historical romance. Olivia enjoys life and never angers. She and her two bet friends like to have fun. The book of love that Olivia purchases gives them lots of laughs and speculation. Beast and his two best friends are also fun. The six of them have fun together. I am surprised that Olivia and Beast have so much time together without a guardian. I liked when Beast called Olivia “Little Goose” or “My Goose.” This is a good read with a variety of good characters.
What a wonderful adventure is waiting for you in the pages of Meara Platt’s newest Book of Love Series. The first book is concerning the exploits of Goose and Beast. Goose is Lady Olivia Gosling and the Beast is non other than Alexander Beastling, Duke of Hartford, a war hero. Olivia is shopping in an old book store, when a book falls off the top shelf, not once but twice. As she is wondering why, the Duke finds her in the store, and they are reunited. Beast saved Goose’s life when she was 7 years old and was happy to find her in London. As they catch up with each other, he discovers that her parents have passed away and she is under the guardianship of a cruel cousin. He also finds out that the book she bought is called “The Book of Love.” Just what does that book have to do with Olivia and her friends? This is a delightful read and a wonderful adventure. I cannot wait for the next journey to come along.
