FULL DISCLOSURE: Mrs. N edited this book.
Okay, now we got that out of the way, I can tell you how much I loved this book. Not only is it a diverse romance but it’s a powerful story about what happens when life throws you curveballs. Julia is the heroine and she’s suffering from a disorder that’s robbing her sight from her. Yup, she’s going blind. She’s also desperate to have a child. She tries out a sperm bank and meets Emilio. They connect right away and before Julia knows what hit her, she’s gained an instant family. It’s what she wants but not in the right order. She wants a baby. But life has a way of working itself out, if only Julia lets go of her fear and accepts love.
So that’s the gist of it. What I loved about this story is the intricate details about Emilio’s and Julia’s life. You discover Emilio is a strong man who feels immense guilt and it comes out in strange ways. I loved the tenderness and awkwardness Emilio shows while raising his three nieces. I cried when Julia cried and the three little nieces became a part of me.
This is so much more than a romance. . . it’s a story about life, dreams and falling in love. It’s a story about family, both biological and emotional. It’s a story of healing hurts and letting go of fear.
Highly Recommend!

Julia’s Wish is book 4 in this author’s The Wish Series and it can be read as a standalone. As with the heroines in the previous books, successful business woman, Julia, makes a wish of what she would like to have accomplished by her following birthday. She has decided it is time to stop waiting around for Mr. Right and fulfill her dream of becoming a mother. I like Julia as a heroine. She is brave in that she is facing a future of blindness, but she isn’t letting that stop her nor the fact she is single be a roadblock in becoming a mother. Emilio is the perfect book boyfriend. He is caring, sexy, and an amazing uncle to his nieces. It was so sweet in watching him interact with his nieces – trying his best to be a good, supportive guardian to 3 preteen/teenage girls. I imagine that can’t be easy!
One of the things that I like about this author is that she always adds that extra element that make her books standout. In Julia’s Wish, she has a strong character who is losing her eyesight. It is clear that the author has done her research and I like how she illustrates that Julia’s impending blindness doesn’t define who she is. Julia’s Wish is a heart-warming , slow burn romance involving an older woman-younger man that has likable, well-developed characters and an entertaining storyline. If you liked the previous books in this series, then you will enjoy Julia’s Wish!
Kay Harris, ‘Sylvia’s Wish’.
As a ARC reader I received this book for free. And promised an honest review. Here it is.
English isn’t my first language. Sorry for errors.
Rating: 4,5 stars (of 5).
Main characters:
– Julia Wall (38).
Vice-president of the Tranquility Candle company discovered that four girls of the firm had the same birthday. The four decide to annually celebrate their anniversary together. During the meeting each girl has to make a wish for the coming year and tell the others.
Thus far this resulted in three books by Kay Harris: ‘Amy’s Wish’, ‘Maya’s Wish’ and ‘Alice’s Wish’. So ‘Julia’s Wish’ is the last book in the ‘Wish’-series.
– Emilio Thompson (28).
Company lawyer of Knowing Your Matches Services, a company organizing sperm donors for women having problems getting pregnant in the usual way.
Julia’s anniversary wish is to conceive before her next birthday. That’s a bit difficult for she has no partner. Yet she’s in a hurry:
1. She is 38 years old, so her biological clock is ticking.
2. She has eye problems. Because of a hereditary trait her doctor’s prognosis is that she’ll lose sight, growing older. She wants to see her baby before she will be completely blind.
So Julia becomes a client of Knowing Your Matches. Normally intake-interviews are held by the two leading women of the donor firm, but for Julia’s intake they aren’t available. Emilio is their replacement. He’s immediately very impressed by the gorgeous, intelligent Julia. And she likes him too. But both don’t want to fall in love, for there are a lot of complications: the age difference, Julia’s coming blindness and Emilio doesn’t date clients and he’s the guardian of three nieces, daughters of his sister who was killed by her abusive husband the father of the lovely, but sometimes difficult teenagers.
The author, Kay Harris, describes with a lot of feeling and sometimes humor how Julia and Emilio overcome all complications. Sweet dialogues, interesting teener activities and a lot of wonderful, credible other characters make the book a page turner and a pleasure to read. It’s a pity that this book is the end of the ‘Wish’-series.
R. Huiszoon.
It wasn’t a page turner but it was entertaining.
I enjoyed Julia’s Wish very much. The girls won my heart. It was an emotional story well written and thought provoking.
Secret Intentions is a unique take on friends, by way of enemies, to lovers romance! Stella June Yates left the small town of Temple as soon as she could after graduation. This was a beautiful love story of second chances that was so well done; it was entertaining; but also was heartwarming and emotional.

It took a little while to really get into it, but it was interesting.
I thought this was a unique plot line and interesting characters. A good romance but not the typical and predictable romance.
Good, not great
So this book was a bit bitter sweet. I was excited to finally gets Julia’s story but she was the last of the four girls so we won’t be reading about these couples anymore.
I have to say this book definitely puts the the term slow burn to the test. I felt like we spent the whole book wanting to reach into these pages and knocking their heads together so they would finally give up this just friends garbage and gets their happy ending. You will fall in love with Emilio, Julia, Hayley, Chelsea and Lexi.

Julia’s Wish is a very different type of romance
Julia is 38 years old. She has a condition that is going to leave her blind in a few years. She’s had so many unsuccessful relationships but she wants a child, and she wants to be able to see that child, so she’s looking for a donor.
Emilio is working at the very unconventional sperm bank, but even he is not without baggage. He has custody of his deceased sister’s 3 teenage daughters. The girls a wonderful and a bit of a handful.
There’s a definite spark between Julia and Emilio from the very beginning, but somehow a friendship grows out of her determination to find a donor.
That relationship isn’t easy, as Julia is older than Emilio and she has issues with the age gap as well as her health issues.
Emilio has the charge of his deceased sister’s three daughters and that makes things more interesting, especially as they love Julia and really want the two of them to get together.
I loved all the missteps along the way as the two found their way to love. The ending is definitely one that will give you warm fuzzy feelings.
This was a beautiful book with characters you couldn’t help but root for.
